The Somerville - Torquay

Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfasts were fantastic! Owners were very helpful. Good restaurants were within walking distance. Highly recommended!

We booked to stay at the Somerville based on the glowing internet reviews - we were certainly not disappointed. The owners make you feel most welcome from the moment you arrive with everything you need to know explained in detail. This, however, is only the precursor for the delight that awaits when you are shown to your room. We stayed in a “standard” […] room, which was anything but. The opulent traditional décor coupled with contemporary facilities far exceeds the traditional British sea side resort bed and breakfast monica. There are many thoughtful touches that make you realise that the owners have given great thought to how to make your stay memorable - from luxury toiletries in the bathroom to a fridge in the wardrobe to a dish of jelly babies on the refreshments tray, it all adds to the Somerville experience. We were particularly impressed with the breakfast selection which includes everything you would expect and some you wouldn’t like smoothie shots, breakfast trifles and from the hot selection, Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale. Put simply, if you appreciate the good things in life and can afford a modest extra outlay there is little point staying anywhere else when visiting Torquay. Read more

We have stayed in Torquay before - this was the first time we'd been to the Somerville, and we shall certainly go again, and will tell our friends. We loved the hotel's location, and were warmly welcomed on arrival. Every attention was detail was much appreciated; the breakfasts were magnificent and the location was excellent. Parking is often a problem […] in such towns - but here there was ample parking. it's all these small things that add up to making a three day stay - for a milestone birthday - one to remembe. It was truly wonderful. The owners made each guest feel that we were amongst family, they took a genuine interest in everyone's day. The rooms and decor were fabulous, the bed was so comfy I didn't want to wake up, except that I didn't want to miss breakfast, which was more like a banquet, I would pay to just go for the breakfast. Fabulous hotel. Decor is beautiful with some superb pieces. Rooms are delightful and include great choice of hot drinks including fresh coffee. There's always fresh milk on hand and a selection of cookies. Breakfast was excellent, great choice and quality food. We will definitely be back.

On arrival at the hotel the staff were helpful with both advice on where to eat, and what to do. The suite we had was just as it was on the web site, and what a room. We would recommend this hotel as a place for couples, and possibly business travellers.

We had a very nice stay at the Hotel Sommerville, having booked it for two nights very recently. The love and time that the owners had lavished on the hotel really was evident in the care they had taken in terms of decor and attention to detail. It was my partners birthday and I had emailed beforehand to arrange cupcakes, massages etc. This was all […] taken care of, and once again the attention to detail came into play!! The English organic toiletries, the decor (although slightly traditional for our taste but lovely nonetheless), combined with an amazing breakfast and friendly, attentive service made staying here an absolute delight. The breakfast was excellent but the room was cramped (too small and too much furniture). Milk for morning tea was provided in a fridge in the corridor but had run out and there was no milk sachets in the room . Overall I would rate the hotel as 4 stars out of 5, where 3 stars is average, 4 is good, and 5 is outstanding.

This was our first trip to Torquay. We chose the Somerville due to the excellent reviews on Expedia - we were not disappointed. The whole building is exceptionally clean and well presented. We stayed in one of the suites (which are very reasonably priced) and were amazed by the cleanliness, and high standards of decor. In addition, the little extras […] like the fresh milk and cookies proves that Adam and Grant truly think of everything to make your stay as pleasureable as possibe. Close to all the sights in Torquay the hosts of the Somerville gave us a warm reception and a great stay. The decor was lovely, the hotel extremely clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was included and was very filling, tasty and well cooked. I would highly recommend the Hotel!

No complaints other than that the standard rooms can be a little on the small side. Fabulous B&B and would visit again. Complimentary cookies, milk and fruit was also a bonus. Beds were amazing cosy.

sommerville er et meget hyggeligt sted med en venlig betjening. morgenmad laves på bestilling af gode råvarer. stilen var meget engelsk. til det værelse vi havde, var der en minigårdhave med en lille bænk. stedet ligger praktisk i forhold til by og spisesteder. kan anbefales
