"Very pleasantly surprised"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 1, 2012
On a previous trip I had stayed at the Tabacon Springs resort in the Arenal area. It is quite pricey so I thought I would look for something else. I found the Arenal Lodge and was very pleasantly surprised. The location of the property is high atop a mountain and the views are stunning. The ride up to the top is very steep and quite twisty but was no problem for the econo front wheel drive Toyota I had rented. The rooms are very unique with a full beautiful view of the volcano. Horseback riding is included with the stay and was a real treat. The staff is phenomenal! Rebecca at the front desk was the best! Extremely sweet and very helpful! We saw quite a few parrots flying around and had a chance to feed a giant blue Macaw that stopped by for a visit. I will come back to this hotel for sure!
"A good place to stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 30, 2012
This is a good place to stay in Monteverde region. The price was right, the room was comfortable, the staff outstanding! Jose, the manager, was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The breakfast was good basic food that got us going for the day. The sheets and bed could have been a bit more comfortable, but that said, we slept well. The location is near to the downtown area that we could walk everywhere.
"Away from it all"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 22, 2012
This resort is beautifully located north or Mt. Arenal with views of the volcano from nearly everywhere on the property. Where you can't see the volcano, the lush gardens easily make up for this. There are flowers, hummingbirds, and other tropical birds everywhere. There is no lava on the volcano now, but that did not detract from the experience. We had a problem with the door not locking correctly one night (drunken guest at the wrong door!), but the staff quickly fixed it the following morning. This is a VERY romantic and relaxing place to stay! Highly recommend.
"Nice Little Hotel"Reviewed by Sue N of "Southern California" on Apr 9, 2012
Close to town. Not the Hilton by any means, but it is a nice little hotel. The owner and staff were very friendly and always willing to help with daily plans. Two small blocks away from the main street that runs through town.

"Far from Relaxing"
Thought Baldi Hot Springs was going to be a relaxing getaway at the end of a great trip in Costa Rica. This couldn't be further from reality. They are a spa hyoping mineral enriched thermal baths. It all sounds nice and relaxing but with an on premises helicoptor pad and hourly sightseeing take off and landings this is hardly the case. In addition, […] it was ealry in the high season and many repairs were under way, many of the available amenities were not yet opene or staffed and the "free" dinner was barely edible. Throw in the nickle and diming they get you for when drinking and eating outside of the included dinner and your bill will quickly inflate. I would not recommend Baldi nd instead would point new and return travelers to the area to the Arenal Observatory Lodge. The Arenal Observatory Lodge was a far superior experience for $40 less per night. Read more
the other hot springs hotels are probably nicer, this one was the cheapest and noisiest. Also lots of day tours tourists buying day passes there caused it to be crowded. also expensive drinks!
"Not what you would expect"
This is not someplace one would want to stay overnight. It is basically an adult waterpark that closes at 10pm. There are very few rooms and the entire hotel is full of day pass visitors all day. If you like water slides and bad food buy a day pass...if you are looking for a hotel try another place.
"incrible"
