I usually do not post reviews but I must say I was impressed with our stay at Holiday Inn Express. The location was perfect. We were looking into staying near La Rambla but the hotels were too pricey, heard lots of complaints of it being noisy, and most did not include breakfast. At this hotel we were in an industrial district and it was clean area […] and a 10-15 minute walk to a nice mall in Glories, we loved the food court there. The metro was only a 5 minute walk and it took maybe 5 mins to get to La Rambla from there. Note there is no free wifi but I would rather have a free breakfast. We would always come back late and ready to go the next day anyway so we had no time to be online with all the stuff there is to do in Barcelona. Overall I enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it. Mattresses was terrible and the early morning manager didn't know the room was paid in advance; mot too much knowledge of the reservations system, I guess. Location is in the old industrial part of town very far from downtown. Better choices for the price in better areas of the town.

It wasn't a real welcoming looking hotel. It looked like a hole in the wall, there didn't seem to be part looking like a hotel until you went in. Everyone inside were very helpful and did their best with english. That was all.

It is ok. Fair price for quality. The only weak point is related to the breakfast which is a little poor - nothing is cooked and the only fresh vegetables are tomatoes but only every three days. There were only a few good things about this hotel. 1 - We got in really early - 4 hours prior to check in and were able to store our luggage in a secured room. 2 - The breakfast that was included was phenominal. 3 - It was easy access to the city. On the flip side, when i asked the desk clerk, whom I believe was a manager, how to get to downtown to […] see things (yes I was speaking in English and she spoke fluently herself) gave me a map and told me where to get the bus downtown. My friend who speaks spanish and is from Peru is with me. We head out, find the bus stop and everything is good until we have to get back. Back on the same bus to get back but it goes all around the city. After spending an additional 45 min on the bus and asking the locals who looked at our map and told us we were given a subway map, we finally get back. Upon arrival back at the hotel, I see the same manager giving local people from Spain the correct map, local tour info and discount cards for tours and eating. She grabbed these documents from a place behind the counter which I had seen prior to her giving us the wrong map and info. - The bed was a "rock" and very uncomfortable. - The room was not the cleanest or even very clean for that matter. it was very dusty and the air conditioning didn't work. one nice thing is it was next to a walking area of shops and places to eat along with a grocery store. We stayed here for only two nights. You can walk to the beach in around 10 minutes. That is pretty much the highlight. The hotel was clean and comfortable. If I was going to Barcelona again I would choose a hotel closer to stores and restaurants. Like most hotels in Europe parking and the internet is not free, but it was average for the area.

Stayed at this hotel August 2012 in room 335. Modern hotel in good location, only few minutes walk from local shops/restaurants and 10 minutes to the large sandy beach. La Sagrada Familia within 30 minute walk or 4 minute walk to nearest metro station. We were given a room kitted out for a disabled person so probably had a bit more room than normal. […] The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There is not much storage for clothing - a small wardrobe and some shelves, no drawers at all. Hairdryer provided in room. The bulb was missing from one reading light and the socket covers tended to become detached, exposing wiring, so watch out for this if you have small children - but that is all there was to complain about. Breakfast from 7 to 10.30 was great - self-service choice of cereal, yogurt, toast, croissants, pastries, fruit, cheese, ham and fruit juice and coffee/tea. There was also a luggage room which we made use of on the last day when we had to check out at noon but weren't flying back until late evening. Read more

This Hotel is nothing grand but is perfectly placed for a good value visit to Barcelona. My one disappointment is that I booked a double room ( 1 Bed as confirmed by Expedia) and for reasons still not explained, ended up in a twin. As it was also my wife's birthday, she was none too pleased to find out that this weekend was going to be spent in single […] beds! Hotel is only a 3-4 minute walk to the metro "Llacuna", which itself is only a 10 minute ride into Barcelona. A "T-10" ticket is a must for the Metro as it is so cheap and easy to use. Just behind the Hotel is 'Little Ramblas", full of Bars, Restaurants and shops. It is also a lovely 15 minute stroll down to the Beach. A good place to spend the evening if you do not wish to stay in Barcelona too late. We have stayed in this area before and were just as impressed as our last visit. Hotel is very near to metro and easily accessible from local Rambla. Usual H.I.X. standards with the only problem being fuzzy tv but we didn't come to Barcelona to stay in the room. I will be staying at the same hotel in a few weeks so that speaks for itself.

Located quite far from the city center, but only a couple of blocks from metro station. Some nice restaurants and supermarket close by. Our room was clean and cozy, but walls, surfaces and even the ceiling had some permanent stains. Quite peaceful, some traffic noise. Good basic breakfast.
