We had a slight problem with the toilet and the Hotel changed our room with no problem. It was a great location and if I went to Fredericksburg again I would gladly stay at this hotel.

"Nice but No cold water..?!"
Hotel was exactly as we expected but the 1st room we were assigned had no cold warter. No cold water for the shower, no cold water for the sink, even the toilet tank was hot after it was flushed! Can't under stand how the hotel has been there for 3 years and no one else complained. Can't understand how a plumber connects the wrong pipes..? !! "Split review"
The decor was inviting and the room accommodations were comfortable. The staff was average polite but minimal in effort. The pool was unusable the door open bugs floating, and the tile dingy. "Perfect in every way."
The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was just the right size, with an accompanying spa. The breakfast was very nice. I would have liked some fresh fruit to go with it. "Very Disappointed"
I expect a Holiday Inn Express to be a higher quality and it usually is but this hotel was not! The sheets on the bed looked like someone had already slept on them. They were wrinkled and not straight. The bed was as hard as a rock. We woke up with back pain. The hotel cleaning staff was knocking on the door at 8:15 to see if we were still there so […] they could clean. This was a Sunday morning and check out was not until 12!! Location and cleanliness are always prime considerations. This hotel was near a winefest at the Lake Anna Winery. The room was spacious and quiet. Breakfast was availabIe. I love the convenience of a microwave and fridge in the room. Several fast food spots within walking distance. Italian restaurant and grocery within a mile. This is a good place for a one-night stopover. It is located conveniently just off I-85 and (inconveniently) not very close to much else but a gas station and a Burger King. Good location an hour north of Richmond, exit has nothing but fast food, but drive 10 minutes north on Route 1 and you'll find a great selection of casual restaurants. "Best Place in Thornburg"
We needed to stay at a hotel near Lake Anna and the marina places are all a bit sketchy. The HIE was definitely the best option available. The room decor is nice and our room was very large--plenty of space. There are few restaurants in the area so we made use of the microwave and refrigerator in the room, which were great. Breakfast was standard fare […] but good. The room condition was excellent and it was very clean. My only complaint is not the hotel's fault--the doors to each room automatically shut for fire safety reasons. None of my fellow guests (and the place was full) seemed to be able put their hands on the door to prevent it from slamming shut so we heard nothing but doors until everyone settled down for the night at about 10:30pm. This is our second visit to this hotel and will not be our last. It is the perfect half way spot for a regular trip we make several times a year. I made the reservation only 2 days in advance and got a terrific price. There is a heated indoor pool, spa and exercise room. There are elevators. There seemed to be good sound proofing. The hotel appeared clean and the room was spotless. The bathroom area was large and easy to move around in. My room had a plasma tv and a king sized bed.
