"A BREATH OF FRESH AIR"
Returning from Florida on this route to the Cape May Ferry many times. The hotel is a breath of fresh air as far as accomodations on this road. Well-mannered personnel, and near fast food restaurants as well as stores that might be useful to families.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Best Hotel In Eastern Shore"
The Holiday Inn is a clean hotel with high speed Internet access. Everyone there is super nice and tries to accommodate your request. They are the most advanced of the hotels on the Eastern Shore. However, the location of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. There are not a whole lot of businesses around the area for food (except fast food) and the […] hotel doesn't have a kitchen. They do serve breakfast, but it is pretty standard in that a lot of it is pre-packaged and looks like it is heated in a microwave or by a heat lamp. In short, this is the nicest hotel on the Eastern Shore (Northampton and Accomack counties), but it isn't the Marriot or Hilton. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is really clean and convenient for our group. We stop here on the way to the Outer Banks to take a break in our trip, since we are on our motorcycles. We will stay again. The breakfast is great also.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"This is pet friendly hotel....not clean"
08/12/14 Robert B Ambler, Pennsylvania
On our way to OBX we decided to stay at this HIE in Exmore. First thing I noticed when we walked in were two dogs in the lobby. I did not realize that this was a pet friendly hotel when I booked (my fault). I have family members that are allergic, so I am sensitive to it. When we arrived the lobby looked clean, but on our way to our room we noticed a smell and the hall floor was not clean and looked like it had not been in sometime. The room was OK, but there was a smell a mix between a must and cleaning solution smell. I did wake up a few times at night hearing a dog bark, nothing major just an annoyance. At breakfast the food looked like it had been there for a while, the eggs had so much salt on them they were inedible. The bacon had what looked like hair on it. We passed on breakfast. Lastly, there is not much for restaurants in the area at all.

We were looking for a place to stay on our way south. It is right on Rte 13 south. All of the people we met at the hotel that evening were doing the same as us. The front end staff was very friendly and did a good job of checking us in quickly. The room was clean and presentable but average. Unfortunately, their is little to limit the noise between rooms. We had to wait until the kids above us settled down to fall asleep. They offered a breakfast that could have been much better if the staff did their job. There was always something that was not available: coffee, eggs ..... At one point I checked in the service room to let them know of the outage and the server was sitting down eating while patrons were waiting for items to be refilled. NOT A GOOD MOVE. This hotel is not inexpensive and based on the nightly rate their value should be better than it was.

We stopped on our way to the Outer Banks. It is only about 2 1/2 hours from here to the bridge. The hotel is located right along route 13. The rooms are fine and the desk clerks were very friendly. The breakfast area is very nice and was open at night for coffee or just watching tv but the breakfast itself was VERY disappointing. The eggs tasted like powdered ones. The sausage and gravy ok. The workers were very slow on refilling things. So all in all the place is fine but don't count on a "Great"breakfast
"They may have a mold problem"
07/19/14 vasaintsfan Richmond, VA
I was traveling with a coworker and chose this hotel due to price. My room was okay, but smelled like pine-sol. My coworkers room smelled like mold. The checked the coils on the room HVAC unit and they were covered in mold. They checked a second room which was worse. I woke up during the night and all I could smell was pine-sol where maintenance had cleaned the coils I guess. Next time I am in the area, I think I will be staying at the Hampton Inn or Best Western.

Horrible experience lve been to this hotel before however the sevice and facilities have gone way down. a walk in receives better rates then frequent customers that belong to aaa, aarp, and best westerns rewards program. no hot water no attendants to maintain the breakfast buffet. Reservations were screwed up
"Eastern Shore Hotel"

We were driving to Jacksonville, NC and decided to stay on this side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel because we figured it would be less expensive than VA Beach, also I have a friend that lives in Exmore and she recommended this hotel. All in all it wasn't a bad spot to spend the night, but it wasn't anything special either. Fortunately we were just looking for somewhere to lie our heads for the night, and it was adequate for that purpose.

We've been staying here for the past couple of years on our way to the Outer Banks, yet this year was such a bad experience that I feel the need to let people know what they are getting into. I booked back in February for a stay in July because I was searching for a specific room. My husband and I were taking his 14 year old daughter and her friend with us so we really wanted to have a room that had a separation for them. I booked through their website and thought I was all set. Well upon arrival we were given a basic 2 double room. I called down to the front desk and they told me they would look into it. After five minutes they called back and apologized that that room was not available and they don't know how I was able to even book it. I booked through their specific website!!! 6 months ago!!! They told me that they couldn't reimburse me any money because I was already given a lower rate than what they were offering tonight. Well of course it's a lower rate.... I booked 6 months ago!!! I was very frustrated and didn't want our vacation starting this way so I decided to just take the king suite (which was handicapped) that they offered to us. The shower was only a handheld shower and the phone didn't work but whatever. However upon our departure I received my bill and was charged an additional $35 for a pet fee (which I thought was already included in my rate) and some other miscellaneous charges. I understand having to pay for my pet when staying at a hotel, but really? This is how they could have compensated for their mishap, and I would have left happy and stayed here again as well as recommending to all of my Outer Banks vacationer friends. The hotel itself is a nice average place to stay for an overnight visit; however we will be staying elsewhere from here on out.

The rooms were spotless, but I felt the common areas could be better. The lift carpet is very dirty and in my opinion would benefit from being changed to a tiled floor. Breakfast disappointing no milk for cereal and no plain bagels. I would have thought someone would have gone out for milk as there is a supermarket virtually next door. 1 of the washing machines broke down when we used it but no refund given. Limited places to eat if you arrive late. Staff friendly but on the whole not a memorable experience.
"Nice halfway point"

We always travel from Philadelphia area to the Outer Banks and we usually stop for an overnight outside Chesapeake off of route 64 but we didn't want to drive that far at night. So we looked for a hotel along route 13 that was closer and settled on this Holiday Inn Express. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, the bed hard but okay and they had a nice continental breakfast. The staff was helpful because a baseball team was staying there that night and the staff made sure we were far away from them. It's a great stopping off point for the price.

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times on our way to or from the OBX. It has always been clean and comfortable and the hotel staff is courteous and friendly They have provided us in a timely fashion with a crib when necessary and any forgotten toiletries at no extra cost. It's a good night's rest with peace of mind and a simple continental breakfast before heading back on the road in the morning.
