"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

comfy bed, nice bathroom, great staff at front desk, wireless access easy, computer in Lobby new and rapid. Parking garage reasonable rate. Great spot nearby:EatIly--check it out for restaurants and goodies to bring home. Only improvement that could be made is quality of towels.

Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. Once seedy, Times Square now hosts ABC, MTV, and NASDAQ.

"Dirty hotel"
Everything about this hotel is dirty. The elevator didn't stop on my floor. Wasn't sure if the sheets were clean.

"Good service"
Since we arrive, to the front desk we were recibed with the sentence "you are in your home" the best part was the breakfast, delcious and complete. Probably the use of the elevators was the worst part but indeed it was very well compensated with the service of the staff in generally. In my case I found that many people spoke spanish and it was very […] confortable for me. Really I recomend this hotel at a good price and very well situated, near from everything Read more

"Service"
I enjoyed the service, support and breakfast Our only concern was the room was very small everything else was very good. Thank you
"Elevator follies"
Well, other than the elevator situation, you'll probably like this hotel. It is quite modern and everything looks new. The rooms are quite small, but I was not traveling with anyone, so that really wasn't an issue, but two folks with big suitcases would be unhappy. There are 36 floors on the building and there are only two small elevators and the staff […] use one of those all the time ... so you could find yourself walking up or down a lot of flights of stairs in a very narrow stairwell or standing around the elevator for greatly extended periods of time. I was on the twelfth floor and I walked down half a dozen times (not that exercise was a bad idea mind you). Breakfast room was nice and the usual Holiday Inn Express breakfast was very good. The location is quite near to the Port Authority Terminal and so easy to get to trains, subways, buses, etc. The neighborhood is not the best ... but I've seen much worse. Nearby restaurants are rather hit or miss -- one would think the 4 or 5 large hotels on 39th street would provide more clientel since they all do not have restaurants inside. Anyway, bed was fine but room TV defaulted to Fox Noise ... now that won't do!!! They need to change that immediately if they want me to drop in again. Read more
"Lifesaver"
I had my car towed and could not locate it at the time so I called hotels.com and got a booking fast and easy. The hotel clerks were very kind to me given my stressful situation and even charged my phone for me because it was dead. Very friendly and helpful staff!
"Saint Patrick's weekend"
We spent Saint Patrick's weekend in NY. The hotel was great except for the pillows and the breakfast could have been a little better. We would go back though. The help was extra friendly.
"Service with a SMILE"
After traveling all morning we were greeted by staff at the front desk that couldn't have been nicer. He let us check in a little early so we could drop our bags and take advantage of the glorious day. He gave us directions, restaurant recommendations and was very helpful with all kinds of information. I don't give praise lightly. I think you will […] be pleasantly surprised. Read more

"I hate Holiday Inn"
I arrived early in the morning from taking a red eye to New York. The hotel staff refused to check me in until 3pm. They told me that's their check in time. I told them I came in on a red eye and wanted to take a nap shower and go to my meetings they couldn't care less. They told me Holiday inn does not work like other hotels and I was more than welcome […] to stay somewhere else. I spoke to the manger and he said they don't have any clean rooms to give me as soon as the first one is available they will get me in. I kept checking with the front desk and nothing they claim they housekeeping people don't come in until 10 am. I didn't get a room till 12pm. I get in the room it's tiny and unconformable. The bed was all springy and nasty. The towels where rough like sand paper. I will never use Holiday inn again. For a little more I could have stayed at Marriott and checked in when I arrived. My fault for being cheap. Read more

"Very Nice Hotel and Friendly Staff"
I travel extensively for business and stay in alot of hotels. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Very clean, great location and very friendly staff.
"Holiday Inn Express on 39th"
Great location, 15 minute walk or less to Times Square and the Theater District. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Excellent service and friendly staff. Clean rooms and complimentary hot breakfast. Planning to stay again next time we're in the city. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good place to stay!
"Very Satisfied"
We stayed here over a weekend adventure in the city after a week of work in New Jersey. The front desk staff, the room, the location, everything was over and above what I was expecting for the very reasonable price in the MIdtown area. Near subway and bus stations to airports, and to get around NYC, in Theatre District. I was very very impressed. Thank […] you for a great experience, location and place to come and rest after a busy day!! Read more
"nice stay"

"In town for trade show at Javitz"
I had a great hotel stay at the Holiday Inn Express. It was an easy 10 minute walk to the Javitz Convention Center which was perfect for work. Breakfast at the hotel was not bad. It was nice to have hot food in the morning. My only complaint is that there are only two elevators for a 20+ story hotel. On top of that, there is no service elevator so the […] staff makes the wait for an elevator extremely painful at times. Despite the wait, I would stay at this hotel again for work. Read more
"Holiday Inn Express near Times Square in NY"
There are 2 best things that I noticed about this hotel. Number 1, I have to say is the Location. It is just 15 mins walk on foot even on the most busy day from Times Square to this hotel. Number 2, will be the breakfast that the hotel provides. It is really very good if you compare it to what you will get in other hotels and also it comes for FREE. There […] is only 1 bad thing that I cant help bringing up to notice of other people here is the LIFTS in the hotel. They are really cramped up for space and a maximum of 8-10 Healthy people can go in once. If you talk about a 36 floor level hotel with these kind of 2 lifts and you are living above 5th floor anywhere, on a busy day it will look like you are always waiting for a empty lift to come and open. When you book try to book near the ground floor so that you can save time waiting in hotel aisle for the lift and spend that in wandering in the city :) As I got my room on 8th floor and I am quite young so it was not a big deal to take the stairs for me. But Overall, I will still give 5/5 to this hotel for the services, cleaniness, staff services etc. Next time also, I will try to book it there only !! Read more
"Nice Hotel for NYC"
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and WiFi a big plus! Rooms are on the small side, but the furnishings are excellent. Nice big flat screen and good mattress. Location is convenient to Time Square. City view was mediocre. Would stay here again for the value.

"basically fine"
This hotel is fine for using as a base when you visit New York City. Don't expect too much though. The rooms are quite small -- but that's fine if you are elsewhere for most of the day and use it primarily for sleeping.
"Great Location. Small Room."
Location doesnt get much better for visiting mid-town. The room was small, but that's New York. Overall, it's tough to beat this location and you shouldn't be hanging out in your room anyways except to sleep. I'd stay there again for sure.
"Holiday Inn Express Times Square"
After reading a couple negative reviews I was skeptical about stay but the service was excellent and staff was very friendly. Great location especially for the price. Room was very small but that is what you get in NYC. I would go back again especially if traveling alone. Not sure about family of 4 in the rooms! I will say they must have expanded breakfast […] eating options as their was plenty of room to eat even if a little chilly in expanded room. Great value choice hotel! Read more

"Holiday Inn Express Times Square"
Holiday Inn Express Times Square When we arrived in hotel room, heat was blasting away. At least 90 degrees in room. No knobs on wall unit to adjust. Unable to adjust on wall. Housekeeper unplugged wall unit and opened windows. Called for maintenance who never came. Unplugged and open windows made room more comfortable but made room noisy. One of the […] two elevators was down much of Saturday. Staff were pleasant. Bell staff helpful. Read more
"Times Square"
It's really the Garment District hotel. Hotel totally unresponsive to repairing bathroom sink which had a very slow drain. I asked two time in fiur days to have it fixed. It never was. they may have looked at it. When I checked out there was no acknowledgement of a problem.
"Holiday Inn at Times Square"
it's good hotel and not exactly at times square but it;s about 3 blocks, the food its really good the room y comfortable but they dont clean very well the rooms every day. Also i will stay again there

"Met my expectations"
Was surprised that our room was pretty comfortable for both my husband and I. It was pretty updated and very clean which was my main concern. Bed sheets looked new. The girl at the front desk was super nice and helpfull asked her for a room with view and she did. I liked that they had a variety of drinks, warm /cold like coffee, hot chocolate even apple […] juice etc.very close to Timesquare. Easily access to cabs on 9th or 8th avenue. Coffee/bagel shop on same block. Pretty safe area. Didn't get to enjoy breakfast though after walking so much didn't want to wake up so early, but was available from 6:30 am -9:30am. Would visit here again for sure.oh and also the room came with a coffee maker which was nice Read more

"Good Hotel fpr the Price in New York near Time Sq"
It is a good hotel for the price in NY city. Breakfast included. And as you can imagine you will have to find the Parking on your own. But there are many options very near by. You don't have to travel that far for the parking. After reaching there at 12.30 in the morning, I was able to find the Parking Garage in the next street.
"Holiday Inn near Times Square in NY"
I got this hotel for a very decent price and the best part in the deal was the location of hotel + the complimentary breakfast they provide + the good nature and helping hand of the hotel employees + other services like if in case you want to check out of the hotel in the morning, they will keep your luggage free of cost till 11 PM that night. Other […] than this, just if in case you are visiting new york on a Saturday evening (say 4 5 PM ) and you are lucky like me ;) if you get some parking space in front of hotel you can park your car in front of hotel for 3$ per hour from the time you reached till 7 PM in the evening and then it will be free from 7 PM of saturday onwards till 12AM Monday. So you get a cheap parking as well. The breakfast that was provided by them was very good and also you get complimentart juices and tea/coffee round the clock. In all, I had the best experience in this stay of mine. Read more

"Great location at a great price"
I had only 2 complaints and the first was outside of the hotel's control. 1 - the corner of 39th and 8th had trash strewn all over it the entire length of our stay. More a comment on their neighbors and the city than on the hotel. 2 - the dining area used for the continental breakfast is very small for the number of guests in the hotel and there was […] no microwave available either in the dining area or in the rooms; otherwise, the hotel was fantastic, it was close to the subway and Times Square as well as Bryant Park. The wait staff at the continental breakfast and the hotel staff were both very nice and helpful. My wife and I would definitely stay there again. Read more

Just what you'll need in NYC. Staff was great, friendly and helpful.
"Holiday Inn in Times Square - Definitely recommend"
Staff was very helpful and accommodating, everything we asked for they provided without question. Location was great, close to train station, bus station, subway, times square, theaters, and restaurants! Room was cold and thermostat did not appear to change the temperature. I did not ask for assistance, so I can't complain. The rooms were not large, […] but plenty for 2 people and a comfortable nights sleep. Only real downside was minor, but they appear to paint the bathtubs, and the paint was pealing off during a shower. After each shower, I had paint chips on my feet. I also saw them painting the bathroom next door to our room during our stay. Read more
"Holiday Inn Express Times Square"
This hotel was very clean, comfortable and close to everything. The front desk staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The room was small but typical for New York. And be prepared to pay quite a bit for parking.
"Holiday Inn Express"
The Hotel staff were very friendly and imformative about sites and used the internet to help us with questions. The handicapped room was good except the show bench would not reach the on/off controls or the shower head, I was with my girlfriend otherwise I could not use it alone.
"Great Location!!!"
Went to NYC for Thanksgiving 2011, stayed at Holiday Inn Express 4 nights, it had a Great Location, my 18 year old neice and I were able to walk to everything! The Subway is sooo close, Times Square, right around the corner, easy access to the town! The breakfast was a nice start to the day! Would stay there again...the rooms were small but as my neice […] would say...were only sleeping here!!! Made our vacation very nice and easy with the location, price was great for Thanksgiving Week and the Staff was great & very helpful! Read more
