Horizon at 77th - Myrtle Beach

The problem I had with the hotel was that I arrived at 10:00 am. I did not expect to get into our room at that time but they said to come back in a few hours. We arrived back a little after 1:00 pm and were told that the room would probably not be ready until about 4:00 pm (regular check in time). We made reservations on the way to Myrtle Beach and when we arrived we were confused about the whereabouts of the lobby. The young lady at the desk was very nice when we ask if we could look at the room before committing. We enjoyed our stay here. Two things , the warning signs at the beach to not swim near the hazards of the runoff from rain drains […] and the indoor pool didn't seem very desirable. We'll try another one of their resorts in the future cause we we're greeted very kindly by all the staff members. Oh and we had a fun time in the river pool.Great for the children. Read more

Our room was very big but we were next the to pool on the first floor. YUCK! The screaming kids and smell was too much for me. Only a few of the wall outlets worked. I was not impressed.

Awesome stay at this hotel. Parking was so convenient- the parking deck is on the same floors as the rooms!! Large kitchen and living areas. Bedrooms are nice and spacious. Hotel staff were really nice. I do recommend this hotel and would stay there again!

The room was in poor condition, the microwave was dismantled with the face removed and wires exposed. The room was in poor condition, carpet dated, floor tiles with cracks and stained. We could barely turn the water on in the shower. The 2 bedroom ocean view room about is great - updated appliances , nice granite counter tops, comfortable beds. The tub was jetted but rather small. The 2 bedroom suite we had for the weekend was beyond our expectations. The rooms were clean and stocked for a stay. Paper products such as napkins and paper towels were not included so you may want to get these as well as creamer, sugar, coffee etc from the Food Lion down the street. The bedrooms were spacious and the only complaint there was that […] the pillows were a bit flat and hard for our liking. The over-sized balcony held a table and 4 chairs as well as one lounge chair. Although,The Horizon at 77th is non-smoking, there were several people smoking on other balconies which can be an issue for those of us with asthma. The pool areas were adequate. This seemed to be a quiet week so the pools were not overcrowded but that could be an issue during busier times. But the view we had (7th floor) was beautiful! The property is angled so that each room had a view. The beach and ocean are a short walk away. We happened to go when it was "bike week" so there was a bit of motorcycle noise at times, but nothing outrageous. Plenty of dining choices nearby if you don't feel like cooking in suite. The rooms are nice and clean. The indoor pool was not clean. The indoor pool ceiling is all torn up with asbestos showing. The hot tub outside was not cleaned well. The front desk employees were not always friendly and did not explain details of the hotel. The workout room is very small.

1st room was suppose to be oceanview but we were in room 104 which was swimming pool view, we couldnt open curtains without everyone looking at us, carpet was dirty and stained they moved us to room 703 the 2nd day and the room had a horrible smell that I cant describe I had to stay out of room as much as possible to keep fm vomitting , carpet dirty, […] ceiling fan sound like it was going to fall down at any time and when we informed hotel of problem they said no other room was avail and sent maid up with deodorant spray which didnt do a thing. The Horizon at 77th was very comfortable...it was the size of a condo, with a full kitchen (granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, stove, coffeemaker, etc.). 2 full sliders facing the ocean to access the outside balcony made this stay very pleasant. The cost was a lot less than the Disney/Marriott resort right around the corner (and no charge […] for parking) . Of course the Marriott had more amenities, however if the intent of your stay is to enjoy the ocean and other activities, who needs the amenities? The only thing that affected the stay a bit was that they seem to have issues with their fire alarms going off when humidity hits the fire sensors. Not a problem at night generally, however it still can be an inconvenience when it occurs (which it did once while we were there). Also, the noise level from construction going on all around was high, although we were there during off season, which may account for all of the collective construction noise. Despite the few glitches I would recommend the Horizon at 77th as I was very pleased overall. Read more

We spent a week at the Horizons at 77th and had a wonderful time. We had a 2 bedroom suite that was spacious and comfortable with a big enough kitchen and large living room area. The cleaning staff was polite and friendly. The came to change the towels and make the beds every day and kept the room clean. We were over the pool which was a little noisy […] but we also had a splendid view of the ocean which more than made up for the noise.
