We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. It takes a while to get to from the airport but we rented a car. Took about 2 1/2 hrs to drive from Nadi. Very secluded, you have to go on an unpaved road for quite a while to reach the resort. However, once you get there, it is absolutely beautiful. The rooms were nice but there was a bug problem. Our room must've […] had a wasp nest because we had the door closed but during the day wasps would keep appearing in the room and we had to open the door to shoo them out. We notified the staff but the next day the same thing happened. They also didn't change our towels even though we left them on the floor. They just hung it up again! The food was ok but can be a bit pricey although our room reservations came with free breakfast. It is about 30 minutes from Pacific Harbour so if you have a car you can always drive there to eat. The beach was absolutely amazing and next to a Fijian village. The village had a store which sold bottled water and snacks. There was also massage on the beach and horse back riding offered, both for very reasonable prices. The hotel lets you borrow their kayaks and snorkeling gear for free. I grew up in Fiji (since 87 living in the USA) but never had the chance to appreciate its beauty until this trip back with my family. We stayed 6 nights and what an amazing trip. My kids (3,8,10) and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the tranquil setting, beautiful beach & pool. Management and staff were very attentive, accomodating and friendly. The resort's surronding is really nice I must admit. It is the location that amazed us and it felt very private. But otherwise the resort's small restaurant is very expensive. Some of the staff was very friendly and helpful, some just not. I don't think I would want to stay there again, there are much nicer resorts elsewhere.

The place to go to totally switch off and relax. Small, quiet resort with nothing to do but kick back and make use of the spa, snorkel or canoe . It is somewhat isolated with a fabulous beach, worth the 3 hour bus ride. Recommend you pre-purchase all meals as otherwise it can get quite expensive. ENJOY!

This resort is located in a serene, secluded spot on the Coral Coast. It is small and intimate and such a nice change from the big popular resorts in Fiji. This hotel provided us with exactly what we were looking for - peace and quiet! The staff are very friendly, their english is excellent and they are more than happy to help answer any questions. The pool is great, the kayaks and snorkel gear are free to use. There is a small book library and some board games to help keep you occupied. There is also […] a local village which is very welcoming just five minutes up the beach, and another hotel another minute from the village if you fancied a change of scenery. As it was very quiet the staff seemed bored and didn't know how to occupy themselves e.g. walk from the resturant to the beach to see if anyone wanted drinks, take in the sun lounge mattress when it's raining, some staff also treated the stereo like their personal belonging with the music volume forever changing from very loud to barely a whisper, and the songs were skipped if the staff member didn't like them. A quick training guide on customer service would save some basic complaints. The only other thing I would say is that the beach bar should open earlier than 4pm, as most people were hanging out at the beach rather than the pool. I would stay here again. Read more

It was a reasonable value for money accommodation, but not anywhere close to 4 star. The staff were exceptionally helpful, the hotel grounds is really nice and I can see it as a great romantic wedding venue. What i found below average was the quality of the rooms. The rooms are lovely, however the details listed on Expedia are incorrect and need updating. I booked a state room, which mentions there should be a 32"TV; bathtub and separate shower, wireless and wired internet in the room. Unfortunately there was no TV, no bathtub and no internet in my room. These are all minor details; however if they are listed […] on a website, then it's expected they would be in the room. Terrible access to the resort from the airport(2.5 hrs of driving) and the main road (4 km of unsealed road from the main road), very pricey meals and small selection, no activities in the resort, no pick up from outside providers for activities due to distance from the other places. Awesome experience staying for one week in July 2012. The rooms were great, we actually got upgraded free of charge and enjoyed breakfast in bed while watching the Olympics opening ceremony on our final morning! Before booking this hotel I read the reviews below, and was aware that it's not close to amenities, that the the food wasn't exceptional and that there are no activities or entertainment. But it was ok, because that's what we where looking for, a relaxing holiday. However, when we got there it was a bit dissapointing. We arrived at 22:30 and the hotel […] was closed. A lady was waiting for us and she made sure to remind us that she stayed late just to wait for our late arrival. There was a tiny little sandwitch and a small platter of fruit in the room wich we thought was a nice gesture because we where hungry, what we didn't realise is that they where going to charge us $28 dollars for it on check out. The staff wasn't very friendly at all. As I read in previous reviews, you get the feeling you are disturbing them. Everything is extremely expensive. Internet is a minimun of $10, a plate of food costs between $30 and $38, coctails $21!! The beach is far away, there is nothing in the beach (chairs, towells available) There was a bar, but it was always closed. If you aproach reception to ask for the weather forecast they would answer "The weather? Oh no, we don't know the weather". It was just a lot of little details that added up for us NOT to recommend this hotel. If you want a real taste of Fijian hospitallity go to any resort at the Islands. It ends up being cheaper (dinner plates between $14 and $30, internet $2, coctails $15) and the staff usually is incredibly friendly! Read more

We read all reviews of the place before booking and shortly afterwards, and checked out the satellite imagery ;) To make things clear: whoever put that thing about bed bugs was obviously slanderous, nothing of that sort noticed, and we've been through three rooms in five days And the beach is fantastic. Not as good as marine reserve near Apia in Samoa, […] but one of the best coral reef snorkeling experiences I've had. The snorkeling gear hire and kayak hire are free, so we were happy. The place is tidy, quiet, beatuful secluded location, staff friendly, and reasonably prompt with service by Fijiean standards. Negatives: poor communication with Expedia, our booking was messed up, but they fixed everything promptly; Isolation and distance: 2 hr drive from Nadi, rental is a must, but expensive. And dont' be tempted with cheap local rentals. Had a terrible experience with sharmarental, avoid like a plague! Nearby Crusoe is somewhat more fun, and the village is cute, but not much else to do. Taxi charges are high. Food: quality was good, but portions small, and it was outrageously expensive!!! Go to Pacific Harbour for your meals #20-30 min drive# Definitely a no self-catering setup, just basic kettle, couple of cups, complimentary tea and coffee. Fridge, but no microwave. TV broken. I stayed in the hotel for New years Eve and it was just fantastic. The hotel is 2 hours and a half from the airport, just 30 minutes to Pacific Harbour and 1 hour and a half to Suva. The service and the food were great. During our stay they have problems with the internet so we didnt have acces to a computer but at the end it was the best because it […] force us to relax and stop worrying about emails and work. The only cons that I found is that the activities advertised in the hotel website are not organise by the hotel itself so you have to drive to other resorts or areas for the activities (the resort offers transportation at all times, you just have to book it and ask for the price). The New years Eve celebration was amazing, the food was excellent and we have the opportunity to share with people from the village close to the resort. Wayne and gail who are the owners and live on site went out of their way many times to make us feel welcome. you max think you are getting more at a larger resort in Fiji but I assure you you are not. You are totally cut off from mainroad and alternative both in chocie of restaurants and shops. There was a way of thinking on this hotel that we liked. They have a plan to employ the lokals so they had an opportunity to learn a trade. Both the gardener, the waitresses, the cook and others from the village worked at the hotel. They also took good care of the surrondings and the area round the hotel was wonderful. As they thougt about the nature they also had a policy not to change towels every day. But we were there for 5 days and had the same bath towel for all days and I think that was little too much of saving for the price we paid for this hotel. FIrstly we were put in the wrong room which was the size of a shoe box and had no TV. The next day we were put into the right room but no appoligy made for the mix up. The description of the room and servicces was incorrect, no bathrobes, no mini bar. The towels, although clean, were all staineded. The shower in the first room spurted water everywhere […] and in the second room had an exust fan at head height with no guard over it. My husband's hand got biten by it a couple of times. The showers were moldy and were in serious need of a good scrub. The first room my husband flopped down on the bed after a big day and almost choked on the dust that came out of the decorative cusions. I found a brochue at the reception that stated the Wellesly was rated the 8th most romantic honeymoon resort in the world. I would like to know when that was because it must have been 20 odd years ago. The food was less than average. We stayed 5 out of the 6 night we had booked and ate there most of the time and we had only 2 good meals between the both of us while we were there. My husband even left with a upset stomach. However I was very glad we had rented a car because there is nothing near by so without a car you are pretty much stuck there. The place needs some serious maintanance, only one light worked in the pool, and many other path lights were broken too. Overall quite a disappointing experience other than the scenery which was undescribable, amazing, making the visit worthwhile. Read more

When we arrived a the the Wellesley (late due to our transfer waiting for another plane and then the 2 hour drive from Nadi to the Coral Coast) we were welcomed, shown to our room and then taken the the restaurant to have dinner. The vegetables were fresh, the flavours awesome and the smiling faces that served us remarkable. It is a small and intimate location and we got to know other couples and it was just what the doctors ordered. I would definately recommend the Wellesley to other people. The only downside, was the price of the food and cocktails (which we already knew). The aircon in our room was so loud that it drowned out the TV, your in Fiji what are you doing in your room. We had towels replaced and I got a towel that was stained and only half a towel supplied, the rest was wripped off. But I cannot rave enough about our time there. Before going, I knew exactly what to expect since I'd read many reviews before going. It's far from the main rd, indeed. But to be honest, there's not much near the main rd to be seen or any other place to go, such as restaurants or anything like that. It's the perfect place if you do want to go away from everything and have some peace and relaxing time! That's was exactly what my husband and I needed and wanted. The beach is fabulous! The resort is very seclued- away from everything. If you are looking for absolutely no noise/activities/entertainment- this one if for you. We did (a friend and I) go next door to Crusoe's Retreat where they had activities. There are no shops around the resort- the road is bumpy to get to and I can't understand why they (the owner more specifically) […] doesn't pave the road- few taxi's will drive up the street. The resort is about 4 km's from the main road where all cars and taxi's pass, and it's extremely hilly- probably not a good walk unless you're a hiker, even then- I still thinks it's difficult. Ensure to buy drinks/snacks before you get to the resort as they are more expensive there then in the regular shops and grocery stores. We did trips to the main cities- Suva and Nadi- took the regular city bus- which cost $3.10 Fijian dollards. The people who work at the resort are extremely nice. Very kind and work really hard. Det är lite annorlunda från de andra resorterna tex på denarau island men det gör ingenting för wellesley gör att upplevelsen blir något helt annat. I byn bredvid hotellet får man se precis hur människorna på fiji bor och dom r väldigt trevliga och lätta att […] prata med. Wellesley är helt klart en häftigt upplevelse. Jag dök också där lite och det finns en Padi dive center skit nära, bara hundra meter att gå på stranden. Och coral coast har de mest fantastiska coral reven jag sätt. det finns mycket hajar också leopard shark, bull shark, white tip, black tip reefs, grey reefs och så vidare. Åk inte hit med barn dock. Det är inget för dem! Det är bra att åka hit ett par eller några kompisar kanske! Fiji är också väldigt dyrt så ta gärna en trip till det närmsta supermarketet och köp massa läsk och chips och godis och nudlar och sånt så man klarar sig för man pallar inte äta middagen där varje dag. vi åt typ frukost (den va skit najs) och lunch (typ hamburgare och omelette och sånt) sen åt vi typ nudlar till middag, Read more

Det bør mere gå under et hotel fremfor et resort, da området er ekstremt lille og lægger meget isoleret fra byer og offentlig transport. Stedet er fint hvis man kun vil slappe af ved poolen og standen, men ellers vil vi ikke anbefale det.

Nous avons passé 5 nuits au resort. Nous recherchions avant tout un endroit calme, différent de la formule Club Med et nous avons été servi. L'endroit est très silencieux et les autres voyageurs étaient très discrets. C'est un endroit que nous recommandons si vous cherchez un moment de silence. Les activités sont limitées au snorkelling, au kayak (de […] base) et à la pêche. C'est l'endroit idéal pour lire et s'étendre sur la plage. Le seul hic, c'est la bouffe. Même si vous prenez le forfait incluant les repas, passez à l'épicerie avant d'arriver (il y a un frigo dans la chambre). La nourriture est bonne, le problème c'est que les portions sont très frugales même pour nous qui pesons 100 lbs chacun. Le personnel est attentif et souriant, est toujours à venir aider. Read more
