"Good and bad"
Overall, the hotel was nice and even impressive in some ways--pretty, clean, fairly friendly staff and one person who went the extra mile. There were two problems: 1. The noise when the guests above used their bathroom, shower etc. was a bit shocking. It sounded like water was going to pour out of the wall. 2. The elevator had some sort of problem […] that caused it to make a loud sound like drilling when the doors opened and closed, and this went on late into the night and early in the morning. Not knowing what was making the sound, I called the front desk in the wee hours to ask if there was some kind of repair work going on. "Purpose of a hotel is to get sleep!"
Paper thin walls.....and I mean paper thin!!!!! You can hear anything, anytime, anywhere. This WILL impact your sleep greatly! This hotel was LOUD! I could hear what I think was the elevator all night long, every time it went up or down. It sounded like a power drill. I could also hear the conversations of the people next to me if we were both in the bathroom at the same time - word for word. In addition, I could hear every single shower they took through the pipes in the walls, […] also woke me up. In addition to all of this, there was no remote in the room and I didn't notice it until I came in at 1:45a, I tried to call the front desk and NO ONE answered. Each time I left for the day, I came back to a terrible chemical smell (that the front desk person could even smell) and had to open the window to vent it out. "Have had better nights/mornings"
The hotel itself is clean. The front desk staff when I checked didn't go above and beyond to convey anything other than 'give me a credit card and here is your room'. When we got in the room the best part of it was that the air conditioning worked and the bathroom was nice and clean. I'd have slept on floors more comfortable than the thing decorated […] as a bed. It was like a rock and if I wasn't exhausted from being in the sun all day I would have had a terrible nights sleep. In the morning I was under the impression there was a continental breakfast, only to find out mid meal that it was $11.95! To charge that amount for everything a lesser hotel would consider a continental breakfast is ridiculous! The elevator sign said 'cooked to order breakfast', but sorry a buffet is not a cooked to order breakfast. The breakfast I got at IHOP afterwards was more food and for less money! "Nice but noisy elevators!!!"
We found the facility quite attractive and very clean! The doors on the elevators were incredibly noisy every time they were in use. Everyone was looking around and talking about the incredible noise and one could hear it all the way to the front foyer when on the main level. One gentleman said it sounded like the hydraulic fluid in the doors was gone. […] I reported the noise and the man's comment to the desk, adding that my 2-year old grandson was afraid to get on the elevator because of the noise and that my daughter had to pick him up to get him to go onto the elevator. They said they knew about the noise (by the way they responded, I could tell this had come up many times before), that it was not the hydraulic fluid, that the doors/elevators were safe, and that the company had many various folks out to check it. They added that it would take $100,000 to replace the doors and that the company would not pay it!!! The air conditioning in our room did not work quite right. When we left for the last time I went to the desk to report the problems with the air conditioner and there was no one working at the front desk at all, it was locked up tighter than a drum!!!! It was Sunday morning after July 4th, and many folks were filling the foyer and leaving and yet there was absolutely no hotel staff anywhere in the area to help anyone who had a need, questions or comments. The only thing was the noisy elevators. Someone said they had been coming there for years and the elevators, when the door is closing, makes a very annoying noise.
