Happy Village & Camping - Rome

This is a little bit of paradise near to everything a tourist goes to Rome for. It's rustic and the daytime front desk lady is exceptionally helpful. So is the restaurant staff and everyone we had contact with. Can't wait to return to Rome so we can stay here again!

We stopped here for 1 night after flying into Rome and renting a car on our way to Siena. The room was incredibly clean, cute and well-maintained. We arrived late and didn't have a cell phone to call the attendant, but thankfully, some passers-by walking their dog called for us. We rented a little cabin and enjoyed it. The birds woke us up in the morning. […] We were there in mid-April so the pool was not yet filled with water, although looks like it could be nice in the summer. The restaurant looked recently renovated as well. There is a Happy Village bus that transports people daily to the metro line into Rome. Overall, we were very satisfied and would consider staying there again. I think it would be ideal if you had a family, wanted to visit Rome on a budget, and wanted to leave the chaos of Rome behind at night. Read more

Happy Village is a very appropriate name. Located on a very isolated country road north of Rome, it's a combination of camper parking and very nice individual cabins. Owners/staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, the cabin was very comfortable, there was a free bus to the train station into Rome, and they had a nice restaurant with good food […] and a decent wait staff. Prices there were quite good as well. There was even multitude of songbirds chattering happily away outside our window at 6 AM! One drawback is, there's no box at the office to leave your key if, as we did, you have to leave early (it was left in our room), and the exit gate doesn't officially open until 7:30AM, so we had to open and shut it ourselves; not a big deal. Great rooms, clean and well fitted, huge double bed, mini-fridge, loads of storage space if you need it. The surroundings are truly stunning (it is pretty much in the country side). I found with my room that it was by some sort of machinery/processing plant that ran literally throughout the whole night it was all I could hear. (Avoid Room 20 if you […] can). It is pretty far from Fiumicino Airport and the centre of Rome but there is a free shuttle bus service to and from the camp, it takes you to Prima Porta station and from there you get the train straight to Flaminio and from there you can get a metro (tube/subway) train to Termini which is only 4 stops and very central. Overall from Happy Village to Termini the journey is approx an hour. The last shuttle back is at 9.30pm which means you will most likely have to stop your activities an hour prior in order to make it. Staff were very helpful, there is always someone on the desk and they will call taxis, open internet room etc. The Restaurant and pool at the top of the hill are also great, you can get coffee and pastries in the morning. Prices are good and there is also a little shop attached to the restaurant where you can by everything from toothpaste to italian sausage, beer to cotton swabs. Really beautiful well-run place in a stunning location. If you like nature and a slower calmer pace you'll love Happy Village. If you want to be in the swing of things 24/7, staggering to your room drunk, this is not for you. Read more

NOT a resort! Rooms are cabins, hard beds, bad pillows, no hot water in shower. AC / heater didn't work very well. Bugs in rooms as door had crack in it. After asking multiple times to have things fixed or moved to another cabin, nothing was done. 2nd pool is a kiddie pool, not another full pool. Internet is flakey even after you pay to get it. Me and my other half chose Rome as our first holiday together, and our stay in Happy Village did not disappoint! Having not learnt the language before hand, finding the Village did prove a little difficult, but once we knew where it was it was it was just a metro ride away from anything! 1 Euro gets you 75 minutes travel on train/metro/bus around Rome, […] which we found to fit into our plans perfectly as 75 minutes can get you anywhere in Rome you need to be. The location of the Village was fantastic, as it's just out of the way of the centre of Rome for you to enjoy the peace and quiet, yet the facilities on site make it feel like a home from home, whether staying in a mobile caravan or a Tevere like we did. With a small market which caters to every day needs, to washing facilities and washing machines. The room had everything we needed, though understanding the language does help as the only English tv Channel was CNN. Although not part of the Village itself, the Morabeza restaurant on site sells fantastic food at low prices, and we found ourselves eating there every night. All in all i recommend Happy Village as an alternative to the city hotel experience, as i feel we received far more from this holiday than if we had stayed in one of our previous hotel choices. What a fabulous place this is. Ok its a bit of a trek from Rome but it makes a real nice change to jump on a local train and mix with the locals, get a free lift back in the shuttle bus to the campsite and then while away the evening in the bar restaurant in the beautiful hills surrounding Rome. Very nice place to stay although quite a long way out of the centre of Rome - around an hour from Happy Village to the centre. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes for the Happy Bus which takes you to the local Prima Porta station where the trains are very frequent and very cheap. Det var inte ett hotel utan ett campingområde med övervägande delen campingstugor/bungalows. De var små och mycket enkelt inredda men det var rent och prydligt. Ganska hårda sängar men väl fungerande luftkonditionering. Läget var perfekt för oss som hade bil. Det var väldigt enkelt att köra i till Rom och ville man inte ta bilen ordnade hotellet gratis […] buss till och från tågstationen (det tog 20 minuter med tåg in till centrala Rom). We arrived so late first night that last shuffle bus (21:45) had gone from Prima Porta. So we took a bus, but had to walk about 15-30 minutes from the nearest busstop to camping. Breakfast, two good bread, marmelade, butter and teapot by 3,5e was ok. I quess can be got more breakfast food by more money.

Die Ferienanlage mit Campingplatz uns Bungalows befindet sich ausserhalb von Rom und es ist auch keine Siedlung oder Dorf in der Nähe um hinspazieren zu können. Ein Shuttlebus (8,9,10,11 Uhr) bringt die Gäste zum Bahnhof Prima Porta (10 min), von wo aus ca. 2 Züge pro Stunde nach Rom fahren (30 min). Die Bungalows sind o.k., das geräumige Restaurant gut (hatten Halbpension) und das Schwimmbad ist nach einer heissen, strapaziösen Rom-Exkursion Gold wert (schliesst allerdings um 20:00 Uhr, Badekappenpflicht!). Det är ju en camping, vi bilade runt europa och bodde på hotell överallt men det här var det absolut mysigaste stället. Vi hyrde en stuga som var enkel men det var en bra klimatanläggning och dusch och sånt. Men det som drar upp betyget är deras pool-område, med restaurangen som var där. schlechte Lage, man ist immer auf den Shuttle Service der Campinganlage angewiesen, die nicht besonders flexibel sind bzw. nicht immer zuverlässig sind, sehr kleine Camp Houses, Frühstück nicht besonders, Restaurantessen auch nicht besonders, kleine Portionen, teuer, durch die Lage, ist man aber gezwungen dort zu essen....

Wij zijn naar Happy Village geweest in oktober 2010. De medewerkers waren behulpzaam, Rome op zich super! Groot nadeel van dit hotel is dat het erg ver buiteb Rome ligt. Met een busje van de camping kon je van het laatste station naar de camping komen. Het busje ging 1x per uur. Als de trein dus vertaging had, moesten we een uur wachten op een afgelegen […] station. Daarnaast ging het laatste busje om21;00 uur vanaf het station. Dan moesten wij uit Rome vetrekken rond 20:00 uur. Dat betekent dus elke avond haasten met eten en een gestress ipv romantisch Rome bij avondverlichting. Daarnaast waren wij met het vliegtuig en vetrk ons vliegtug om 10:00 uur 's morgens. Het eerste busje ging vanaf de camping om 8;00 uur en dus moesten we met de txi. Omdat het niet mogelijk was om een gedeelte van de reis met de taxi te gaan , kostte dit ons 55 euro. Wij zouden de volgende keer liever kiezen voor een hotel wat iets meer kost, maar dan meer in het centrum ligt. Wij vonden dat we nu veel te afhankelijk waren van het busje van de camping. Read more

Wir hatten einen perfekten Städtetrip! Da der Campingplatz mit seinen Bungalows und Stellplätzen etwas außerhalb von Rom liegt, genießt man hier die Ruhe und die Geselligkeit am Pool. Alles ist ruhig, sauber und erholsam gewesen. Mit dem Happy Village Shuttle- Bus erreicht man in kürzester Zeit die nächstgelegende Metrostation. First of all,this is an camping site not an hotel. the place layes in front of an hill. when you arrive to the reception with shuttlebus you got a numbers of small cabins behind the reception. Cabins are about 10m2 with doublebed and A/C,TV, and a small refrigerator, on one side you have entrance to toilette and shower. we stayed for 8 days, under this […] time nobody clean the floor or change the towels, the camping would have extra for such service. Staff where very friendly and helpful but they could not speak so much english/german. from the reception you had to go 300 meters upwards the hill to the restaurant with nice staff and food, and there they also had an pleasant pool. The camping is not so good for children who can´t walk or older people who have problems with their health Shuttlebus was going on time to the nearest train station called Prima Porta. This local trains from Prima Porta to is called "Treno Urbano" which went to Rom (Metro-stn. Flaminio)very frekvently every day, there you get on the subway to the center of Rom,total time 45 minutes from Happy Village. The town itself was very busy, much people running everywhere, lots of cars,mc and so on.People are very friendly and helpful but they can mostly only speak italian.
