We had a two bedroom suite and loved it. It was perfect for the amount of people. The only downfall is that there is no pool or anything indoors for your stay. You'd think for the price the amenities might be a little better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice place, but...."
The hotel itself was very nice, clean etc. Unfortunately, the hotel was undergoing some construction and they decided that it would be fine to start working on the rough outside of my window at 8:30 am. Not only were they working, but the way the hotel was laid out the workers could see directly into my room and I could see them eye-to-eye. I went to […] the manger and told her of my concerns and she apologized and gave me meager 20% back on my room. I didn't want to argue with her in front of guests, but the situation was horrible. Nothing like waking up to a man that can see directly into your bed first thing in the morning... ugh Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Decent hotel. Okay continental breakfast (muffins, cereal). The staff is very friendly. The area is kind of lame; lots of chain restaurants and you need a car to get around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is extremely nice especially for the price of the rooms. I was attending 3 nights of concerts at Hampton Coliseum and I was only 8 miles away at the location. Many good mid priced restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend staying here and will do so myself when back in the area!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel in perfect location and comfortable."
I stay the TownePlace Suites by Marriott every time I come to town wether it is for business or visiting family. The hotel is in a very good location to access all the best sightseeing opportunities. It is also nearby many of the bases in the area where I conduct my business, but yet far enough away to seem like you are in the country. The room is very […] comfortable with a full kitchen that you don't see in many places these days anymore. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"all good for last minute stay."
The area perfect. The hotel clean and nice but one exit door was broken but fixed by that night. The mattress was a little to soft bit the sleepy was great. The front desk was knowledgeable and hospitable plus made great cookies. Woke up too late for breakfast so missed out. Great stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The bed was very comfortable!"
The staff was great. The room was spacious & comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not up to Marriott's standards"
I was quite disappointed in the quality of this Marriott property. While I was looking for something a little less expensive than a Courtyard, I ended up paying more than I should have for this room. The room was very dated. You could not see the TV from the bed. The shower was falling apart. The Internet access was wired, not wireless. The room was […] clean. There was an 'Eat and Run' breakfast, not a continental breakfast. Next time, it is back to a Courtyard or Hampton Inn. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Choice of accessible rooms"
01/22/14 CCC_wanderlust Alexandria, Virginia
I had two two-night stays at this property over two months: the first was over the Thanksgiving holiday and the second over the Christmas holiday. Both stays were with a family member with special needs, so I requested an accessible room. Room 103 (Christmas stay) was better suited for our needs than Room 105 (Thanksgiving stay) because Room 103 had the walk in shower. Although Room 105 had a folding seat like the shower in Room 103, it was a bit difficult for someone with mobility issues to climb over the bathtub. Both bathrooms had hand grips along the walls, which was helpful. Both rooms had a pull out sofabed and the kitchenette was well-stocked with cleaning supplies, dishes, pots/pans, and utensils. Both rooms had a nice view of the pond. The reception staff were welcoming and let me know that there would not be any housekeeping service on major holidays. Nevertheless, there was always someone at the front desk available if we needed anything, and breakfast items were stocked. The property has a nice location. There is a Japanese and Mexican restaurant within walking distance, and a Kroger grocery store across the main road. It is also within five miles of other retail stores. I will be staying here again next time I visit relatives in the area.
"Good location and good value"

This was the closest we could get to Williamsburg for a long weekend getaway and it worked out fine. Maybe about 20 minutes away from Busch Gardens. The breakfast was a good deal. The area around this place is quiet and there are many eating places close by for lunch and dinner. And, if you don't want to go out, having a full kitchen gives the opportunity to make meals right there.
"I am just about THROUGH with this raggedy chain!"
07/11/13 THERREN D Spring Lake, North Carolina
This was supposed to be a 30-day stay; i couldn't keep my family in this dump more than ten nights because of the cigarette smoke permeating through the walls. My wife and I complained for THREE NIGHTS RUNNING about the smoke coming through the vents and the most we got was a shrug. I'm sorry; I thought that placard warning guests about a $250 fine for smoking in the rooms meant something. Thanks for proving to me otherwise, and now I can take my family to an establishment that will actually get off their backsides to handle complaints. I don't care about the condition of the room, the dated furniture (WARNING: this place hasn't been renovated in 11 years), or the weak internet access, or even the joke they call a fitness center (two treadmills and mirrors in a closet). All of that would be bearable if the customer service was better, if the front desk staff showed they cared with actions instead of words. This hotel exemplifies just about every problem I've had with TownePlace Suites, and perhaps it's best that I disassociate myself (and my money) from this chain. I can't deal with the song and dance anymore. [To be fair, one of the FD staff did offer to move us into another room, but I have a pregnant wife and a toddler; if I'm going to endure the inconvenience of moving to another room, why not just move my family to another hotel, especially if I feel they had all the opportunity in the world to handle this?] Everybody has different experiences with different hotels; many will say this is the best-kept secret in Hampton Roads. I'd like to see what they were smoking (pun intended). Bottom line, another trucker-quality hotel that disappointed me greatly, and I'm thinking seriously about following this up with a letter to the CEO of the chain.
"Priced well for suite with kitchen"
01/01/13 Susan S The Villages, Florida, United States
Hotel is conveniently located off i64 by a golf community offering wooded and even golf course views. Plenty of restaurants and shopping just a short drive away. The standard suite includes a queen size bed and sleep sofa sitting area with flat screen tv. The kitchen is sufficient for cooking and longer term stay. The overall room area is small with no divisions so we heard the refrigerator run all night. It was not my usual comfortable Marriott room. We stayed 2 nights and looked forward to the breakfast. There was an array of sweet cereals and some fruit. Seating was limited to a small couch and couple of stools. We did not bother our second morning. We did not consider it adequate.

Another ball tournament, another place to sleep. Very good location, Texas Roadhouse very close, close to interstate. Worked well for me, priced well, good location, and excellent experience. Thumbs Up !!! Would stay there again.
"Made moving a little easier, thanks"

We stayed in one of the two bedroom suites for two nights. The second room is so nice when you have teens. Check in was amazingly easy. Justt spent 12 hours packing the house and we were exhausted. It started raining very hard as we pulled in. We were made to feel very welcomed and were given delicious cookies and milk. Brightened our moods for sure. I was surprised there was not wifi. I was tired so was not a huge deal but if i was staying there long term that would have been a problem. The room was good size with a kitchen, living area, two bedrooms and one bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. Breakast was sparse, cereal, yogurt, muffins and pastries. It worked. Check out was a breeze. Danita was great throuhout the entire stay. Thanks for making moving a little easier.
"Very Nice & Affordable Hotel Suite"
07/22/11 QueenAT5010 Clinton, Maryland
The hotel is in a very convienent location, quiet & peaceful. The room was nice, and the staff accommodated our request for ajoining suites. The staff was very helpful and overall, I would say, you get alot for the money. I thought it was priced great. Also, It was close to all of the major venues in the Hampton area. The only drawback, and I use the term loosely is the pool is tiny.

Our car was stolen from this hotel parking lot. Horrible management were very unhelpful. Local shariiff warned that it happens often here to cars with out of state plates. Don't let the neighborhood fool you. Hotel is not corporate owned and doen't have security nor camaers outside. camaera only point in the office . Did I mention the horrible management?
"Staff nice, GM not and hotel filthy and broken."
02/13/11 railmaj San Antonio, Texas
I was in the Towneplace for 5 weeks during a trip. When I walked into the assigned building, the carpet was absolutely filthy in the hall. There was an enormous stain right outside the door to my room. It took me a while to get into the building because the key scanner would not work to unlock the outside door. That stayed broken for 4 of the 5 weeks of my stay. The VERY OLD refrigerator kept peeing all over the kitchen floor, and I was told that I had to keep the tray empty and keep things off of one of the three shelves. Then about half-way throug my stay, the VERY OLD electric stove shot sparks past me (within about 2 inches) and hit the wall leaving a scar on the wall. When they gave me a key to utilize the room next door, the refrigerator in THAT room had peed all over the floor there too! There is no WIFI, and after I had to go and purchase a CAT 5 cable, the internet was down for about 3 of the 5 weeks. One of the employees families had a wedding or something one weekend, and many of the guests complained about the noise going past 0300 in addition to complaining about the blatant use of drugs in and around the building. They gave me a room in another building so I could get some sleep, but they did nothing about the problems for the rest of the guests. The housekeeping staff seems VERY FRUSTRATED as they cannot seem to do anything. They had to bring a board in because there was a definite concave (on both axes) shape to the mattress. (When they put me in the other room for a night, the bed looked EXACTLY THE SAME!) Apparently, this hotel was up for refurbishing 2 or 3 years ago, but they do not plan on fixing anything until one of those stoves actuall hit someone when the sparks fly, and they get sued.
"Excellent CustomerService, Best value on behalf of TownePlace Suites by Marriott - Newport News Yorktown"
04/26/09 cjsmitty Clinton, Md
I would like to take a moment to recognize the excellent customer service that the staff provides , at this Marriott. Mr John Chisman, Ms Shonda Johnson. The staff was working at a another hotel, I stayed their to my dismay, I was quite upset to find that the two most exceptional employees was no longer working at that hotel, We checked out, told the GM, I would not return th thast hotel again (Candelwood Suites) I searched around until I located Mr Chisman and Ms Johnson. I feel as thought we receive the best customer service at this hotel that you would ever want on your vacation or business trip. When you are in the Newport News area, check out this hotel you will return for your future stays. We love the environment for my family and friends, It is also a good location for military families or a single soldier. John and Shonda has proven to be true professionals, Thank You for making our stay at Newport News Marriot warm and welcoming. We will see you for our family vacation in June 2009. Respectfully, O.A.Wilson & Family Clinton, Md
