"Quiet Stay at Reasonable Prices"
We had a corner room, so there were plenty of windows to let in the sunlight and breezes. The day was hot and humid, though, so we used the air conditioner, which worked fine. The bed was large and comfortable and the night was quiet. There are plenty of common areas where you can mingle, or cozy up with a book. The breakfast was good. The views from the front are gorgeous! We did have problem logging on to the wifi, and were never able to connect to the internet. If you get a second floor room, be prepared to carry your luggage up the steps because there is no elevator.

"A cute little place"
Such a sweet & cozy B&B! My husband and I enjoyed the pool and playing shuffleboard with our morning coffee. The grounds are well-groomed which I think helps keep the summer bugs at bay, but bring spray if you're sensitive it's a rural area. The small town is only a few minutes away which has a few restaurants, general store and ice-cream shop. (I didn't see any vending machines or anything, so if you get the late night munchies be sure to have bought items in town) Also note: The place is BYOB, but they have wine glasses etc available to use. Shower takes several minutes to warm up, don't be alarmed! We are from NYC, so we enjoyed being 'out in the middle of no-where'. It's quiet, come here to relax, play some tennis and be outdoors not to party.

"sweet escape"
dexters was a nice getaway. We will be returning for sure! The rooms are very small and basic but the price is right and the room was clean. The hotel manager was accommodating and allowed us to relax and not rush us out right at check out. An the blueberry breakfast crumb cake was amazing and the best part was I got to sit an eat it peacefully with a cup of coffee overlooking the mountains :)

"Cute Place"
The staff was really attentive and pleasant. John made sure to tell us about the Inn's facilities and gave us directions for a place to eat that night. The room was pretty nice, and the only thing I could have wanted was a bigger bathtub. Overall, I was really pleased with the stay, and I wished we could have stayed longer.

"New Hampshire get away"
Stay was great, John the innkeeper was fantastic, and the hotel was as described. It's not the hilton but nor is it supposed to be, it's a great old farmhouse from a time long ago. I would recommend this place to anyone. My only regret is we couldn't have stayed longer

"Hotel der besonderen Art"
Das Dexter's Inn liegt abseits der Hauptstraßen ruhig gelegen mit wunderbarem Blick in die Berge von Vermont. Die Zimmer sind verteilt über das Grundstück. Eine alte Scheune ist ausgebaut zum Freizeitbereich. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Pancakes und Bacon werden "to your order" frisch zubereitet. Das war sehr lecker. Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir können es auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

"Delightful getaway"
01/21/16 Alex D New York City, New York
My girlfriend and I sought a quiet getaway close to nature, and were met with a well-kept, traditional B&B, and an excellent, highly value-for-money weekend. John, who runs the inn, is phenomenal, patient (taught us rudiments of skiing and snow-shoeing, and gave impeccable directions), and very accommodating. The rooms are cozy, clean, elegant decor, and extremely restful. Their cook made a mean curry, and the BYOB is very fun, actually! The property possesses numerous summertime diversions: tennis courts, swimming pool. The grounds are a peaceful and bucolic treasure-trove, and we loved roving around cross-country skiing! The place is very kid friendly, has a playroom, and also libraries and fireplaces with cozy armchairs and couches to roost after daytime activities. Very affordable and truly a place to return to. Don't miss out!

"A Bit of a Disappointment"

We had stayed at the inn several years ago, and although it was showing it's age, the Innkeeper was very personable and helpful, the chef personally served your breakfast and the room was comfortable and you cannot beat the views! Also there was a heated pool and a lovely outdoor seating area. This time, our room and the common rooms were a tad shabby and breakfast was served as a typical hot buffet. The innkeeper, views and amenities hadn't changed. In fact, there were some fabulous improvements to the outdoor seating area and the walkway to the inn, but the interior needs some serious updating and a good cleaning.

"Cozy, comfortable and fun for groups!"

We stayed here for a wedding this past weekend. The location is amazing! Rooms are cozy and comfy! It's an Inn...don't expect more! Everything was convenient and lots of activities for the large group attending the wedding! Just bring mosquito repellent or coils! The Mosquitos will eat you alive!!! Beautiful place, lovey location, I would come back for a different type of adventure !

"FABULOUS!!"

My family and I stayed at Dexter's Inn in Sunapee, New Hampshire. Some of us were there for 3 nights, others for just 2. There were 10 of us in all. John Augustine, the Innkeeper accommodated all of us easily in very comfortable, cozy rooms. The grounds are beautiful, with a fabulous view of Mount Sunapee. The pool is cool and crisp, there is shuffleboard, croquet, tennis, and walking paths. In the Annex, there is a large game room with a pool table, foosball, air hockey, and table tennis, as well as a TV. In the main house, there is a cozy dining area for breakfast. Breakfast is made to order with eggs (your choice of preparation), pancakes with fresh New Hampshire blueberries, juice, fruit, anything you want. There is also a large, lovely living room and a separate children's room with games and paper and crayons for coloring. On the last evening we were there, we had a delicious meal prepared by the Inn's caterer, Rolf. We had been in contact with him prior to our trip to plan our menu and he was the perfect chef and caterer. John Augustine was a wonderful host and made us feel welcome, as did Helen, another member of the staff. If I could give Dexter's Inn millions of stars on his rating, I certainly would,

"An Idyllic Location"
05/18/15 Jim M Center Ossipee, New Hampshire
Perched on a hill with stunning views this inn begins your stay with temptations. The main house is large and accommodating with dining, TV room, children's room and sitting areas. Breakfast is served as part of your fees and the potatoes tempt you to get more. Outdoors, a new stone patio leads to recreation areas including tennis and a pool. The staff is friendly though overworked and they provide a nice complement to the ambiance. The only shortcoming is a lack of funds to upgrade the rooms though the innkeeper is certainly making every effort. I'd go back.

"Perfect for winter family fun and our reunion"
04/04/15 CeCe S New Gloucester, Maine
I have a large group of friends--like family, but we have not been able to gather for many years, with small children, ever growing responsibilities and more miles between us.  We were able to organize to come together at Dexter's Inn this winter and it was the perfect location.  Casual common rooms to gather, breakfast and dinner right on site, as well as groomed snowshoe and cross-country ski trails.  Mt. Sunapee was very close by, only about 5 miles.  John and the entire staff were extremely accommodating and the inn itself was perfect.  You can tell it would be quite lovely in the summer, too, with tennis courts and a sprawling property, so we will have to return soon!

"Quaint hotel in lovely location"

We stayed two nights recently and found this to be a quaint and unpretentious place from which to explore the surrounding areas. We had dinner one night and found the food to be a little on the pricey side but good. The gardens were covered in snow but looked like a lovely setting.

"Rustic!"

I probably would not go back. It was way overpriced - but I understand the owners problem. How do you keep up a big old building that has had poor renovations and a low occupancy rate without charging a big price. On the same trip we stayed in a B&B in Hanover NH. It was a little more expensive but about ten times the value experience. Breakfast is very average.

"Comfortable, unpretentious Inn"
10/06/14 bikegem Bay Area, California
Our bicycle group stayed here in September and had a wonderful time. Dexter's Inn is an old property that is lovingly maintained. It is not luxurious but very comfortable with a lot of amenities....a pool, tennis courts, lawn games, and a sweet little room for children to play in. We stayed in the annex, which was not fancy but very comfortable. Someone else complained about the noise on the road outside the door, but we never noticed the noise and I am a light sleeper. The owner is gracious and easy-going and fun to talk to. This would be a GREAT place for a family reunion or wedding....

We stayed in the annex, which I don't recommend. It's RIGHT ON the road so the occasional car goes by at 45 mph 21 feet from your head. Also, the sun comes streaming in the windows-with-blinds like a spotlight, so this is not the place for sleeping late (note to inn-owners: please put up some room-darkening curtains -- the shades don't work at all!). The decor is sweet but very dated, the bathroom floors are linoleum -- there is a neat O'Brien cartoon in the lounge from 1956 and I think that's the last time the furniture was changed. That said, the grounds are spectacular, the location lovely, the outdoor recreation super-fun (badmitton, tennis, outdoor pool, shuffleboard, horseshoes) and the breakfast was fine. I can see this as a great place for a family reunion, but only put the brother-in-law you DON"T like in the Annex!
