"Not a property worthy of Swissotel"
Having stayed at other Swissotel properties, this one is not of the same standard. Though the service was good, that unique quality I found in the warmth of the staff was present, though lacking a surprising percentage of the time. I felt as if I could have been in any big chain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great family hotel"
A nicely appointed hotel 5 min walk from the beach. The 2 BR suites are fantastic for families with heaps of living space. The staff we all very friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again without a doubt. We had a great time in Kamala Beach and the Swissotel Resort. The resort also has single BR suites that are good as well.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel for families, not for couples"
Nice resort for big families, disspoinentment is no views of sea, four storied resort!, small bathroom but good continental food, very good staff, large swiming pool.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good family hotel"
The hotel was really comfortable and had a spacious living area with nice kitchenette and good air conditioning. It was close to a nice beach and the pool was great. The buffet wasn't very good, lots of food but poor quality. IT was too far from anything though and it was extremely annoying to get a tuk tuk back from Patong to the room. The staff were […] very friendly. It was a little bit quite though and the atmosphere was boring. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"huge sitting room but bathroom is too small"
Near the quiet Kamala beach. Clear water, nice sand and excited water activities, like parachute, banana boat. Teenagers have much fun. The suite is alright in every area, except there is only one tiny bathroom in a two bedroom suite. 4 persons need to line up for shower and toilet, very inconvenient.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice, family friendly hotel, close to the beach"
Spent 5 nights at this hotel. The apartment was on the third floor, be aware there are no lifts. The apartment was a good size, clean and very spacious and the beds are comfortable with TVs in each room and AC. The bathroom is nice, but small if there are more than 2 of you in the apartment. The apartment had a small kitchen - kettle, fridge, microwave […] and sink. Water is given by the hotel. The hotel pool is very nice and mainly full with children - but the beach is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Breakfast was really good, lots of variety, traditional breakfast, Thai food and fruit. There are great eating places one minute from the hotel and also Thai massage places which are very cheap. The mini mart is good and very cheap too. The beach is very nice with lots of market stalls, bars and eating places. The staff at the hotel are excellent and speak English fairly well. The hotel also provides a free shuttle service to Patong daily. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great family resort"
Distance from beach was disappointing and the walk and end facilities 'rustic'. The isolation add-ons the surrounding shops charged (eg laundry 70B per kg when 50 everywhere else in Kamala). The taxis, as everywhere in Phuket, are frustrating and metered, regulated taxis are needed there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic for big families. Two rooms for less"
For less than the price of one. Great breakfast. Good location. Need a car or at the mercy of taxis.4 minute walk to beach. Of kamala. 3 minutes from phantasea.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Swissotel is great for families"
Our 3-night family vacation stay at Swissotel surpassed expectations. Service was good (staff assisted with a birthday surprise), rooms were spacious and well maintained, staff friendly. The pool and kids club make it an awesome place for kids of all ages with scheduled activities. Food was good too. Kamala beach area is not too crowded yet close enough […] to Phuket town (1/2 hour taxi). I would recommend Swissotel to friends and family and will certainly stay with them again on my next trip to Phuket. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Resort was lovely and had everything we need. My only issue was the bedrooms were a little small and the living room overly large - so our luggage ended up in the living area. Staffs are very helpful and are quick to respond in every query. They always have a cheerful smile. On the other hand, the buffet breakfast are quite boring,we stayed there for 4 days/3 nights, they always serve the same menu which is not nice especially if you"re staying for days on a hotel. For me and my family food is very important as much as comfort […] and cleanliness of a hotel. They should have changed at least 5 of the menu each day.And before I forget, they only give 1 shower gel for 4 people, luckily I bought our own toiletries.Overall ,hotel is a nice place to stay especially for the family. "Nice hotel but poor service"
The service was poor and didn't match the hotel standard. Coffee wasn't ready until 7 though breakfast started at 6:30, they only started cleaning the coffeemaker when we asked for coffee. It took a long time for the orders to arrive and lunch and dinner weren't good. We weren't told that a trip was cancelled because nobody else wanted to go though […] we had to sign up one day in advance. Response by Swissotel Resort Phuket Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your feedback and for choosing our Resort. Please accept our sincere apologies in regards to the disappointing service at the Café, not being informed about the cancellation of the trip as well as for the unpleasant smell. Please rest assured that necessary actions have been taken with the respective departments for immediate improvements. Rest assured that we will be working hard to further improve our product and services and sincerely hope to have the chance to welcoming you back again.
Stayed in the swissotel for a week and a half in March 2013 and generally found it a most pleasant experience. Main gripe was that we were given a much smaller room than expected so had to ask for the bigger room (which was pictured on the website) which we were duly given. As we did not have children with us we spent most of the time on Kamala Beach […] which had the perfect balance of restaurants and bars etc whilst not being too busy. Overall the hotel was fine but had an annoying live act that played loud music in the restaurant. The food (and eating experience) is far better on the beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"If you're after a quiet place to stay.."
Swissotel at Kamala Beach is a great place to stay. The front office staff are always ready to help with a smile. It is a little out of the way from the Patong and the Phuket town centre but taxis are always readily available to take you there. I think it's catered more to families but having said that, it would be a nice place for couples as well.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Place to stay."
Very good Hotel, great service, very clean, good food and great clientele, fantastic location. The only negative was the power went out at night for quite a few hours, the hotels generator power does not extend to the room therefore was left in absolute darkness. This was late at night and didn't affect my stay. I would recommend this place.Genuine Expedia guest review
This was the second time we'd brought the kids here but we also stayed at the Katathani and Horizon at Karon. For a family, this place really stands apart. The rooms are lovely (big 2brm plus kitchen/living with 3 LCD TVs) which are tough to find in Phuket plus rates were lower than we paid elsewhere for the normal 'all-crammed-in-one-room' deal. Also, […] best hotel breakfast ever, kids loved the pool and slides and top-notch restaurant with varied menu that caters brilliantly for kids with pricing that's only mildly extortionate. People are absoutely lovely which is probably helped by the fact that it's not a huge resort, good beach 5mins walk away, Patong is 5min/400baht in a tuk-tuk, great massage & tailors just out front. We're already talking about going back - this time, only to Swissotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We experienced a tsunami evacuation during our stay and the staff were exceptional. Even the general manager was hands on. Took care of us with food, water and towels while up the hill. The staff were the friendliest we have ever met. Loved our children. This is a great family hotel. Only things were the kids club smelled damp and they took ages to […] remove room service trays when requested which started to smell after being outside for a full day. Also instead of changing a bed sheet that my daughter had spilt something on, they turned it over. Was earlier Courtyard by Marriott, name changed from 1 April 2012. Since Phuket is hot round the year, I wish the Swissotel had public areas (bars, restaurants) with airconditioning. Ideal for families with a great kids club and water slide that kept them occupied for long periods. Shops near to the hotel were useful to buy bits and bobs as well as local trips. Spa in hotel was great and gave a discount before 11am. Whilst breakfast was pricey - about 400 bht each the lunches and evening meal were reasonable and varied though. "Good quiet family hotel"
3rd time in Kamala and this hotel for us. It's a good hotel for people / families that don't want the hectic life of Patong but still want to be close enough for shopping while enjoying the Kamala beach and what it has to offer. Unfortunately our feeling is that hotel and the rooms specifically is getting old and is in need of a refurb. The bathrooms […] are just to small. In a 90sqm 2 bedroom suite which can take 6people the bath room isn't larger than 6sqm. A disappointment for us also was to see that the state of the beach has gotten much worse. The last couple of times 2 a 4 years ago it was neat and really nice. The beach in Kamala is ~1.5km long - so really nice to walk along. This time it was so much garbage on the beach and in the ocean that you had trouble walking barefoot there sometimes. Though where the Swissôtel have their "Sandbox" they try their best to keep it clean and tidy for their customers. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This is a lovely hotel, not big, not luxuary, but basic stuff satisfied basic needs for a tropical resort. it's about 30 mins driving distance from phuket airport, at kamala beach, very close to the Phuket Fantasea park. only 1KM, 200BHT single way by a taxi or tuk-tuk. Hotel has a nice swimming pool, but kind of small considering its room amount. It […] would be better to stay on the ground floor, room facing the swimming. hotel doesn't have elevator. I stayed in a 2 bed room suite, unfortunately it only has 1 bathroom which is very unthoughtful. And the hotel doesn't have private beach. you have to walk outside about 500M to the public beach. Right outside of hotel, there is a small street that offers massage shop, small super market, restaurant and souvenior store. I like that. "Spacious 3 bedroom family suite "

This is a lovely and welcoming place! We went there as an eight members family, ranging from 7month old to 65 years old. Each one of us had a great time! The suite is very comfortable. The size of the suite is huge! I loved sitting out in the balcony. The kitchenette is called so only because of the equipments provided and definitely not in terms of size An added advantage is it's closeness to Kamala beach which is just a 2 minutes walk. We loved our family time on the clear, uncrowded beach. It appeared like our private beach! Overall, great fun! Highly recommended!!
"A bit outdated & boring resort with very friendly staff"
09/01/14 Tooshkin30 Melbourne
We stayed in this resort for 2 weeks, it was our first time visiting Phuket with 2 little children. The Negatives: We stayed in room 1215 and I have to firstly point out that the front of the hotel is all done up, the room itself is outdated with cracks in the walls and the curtains have holes in them, so when putting the kids for a nap though the curtains are block outs the holes in them let the light right in. The master bedroom is actually pretty small, but it did the trick. The pillows are terrible and the mattresses (in all beds) are pretty hard. The resort description clearly states there are 3 restaurants & bars ... there is 1 restaurant and 1 bar. The description also states that there is a spa ... I am not sure what happened to it but it wasn't there. The schedule of activities - well some of them just didn't really happen. It is in the middle of nowhere! You have to cross a busy road to get to the beach and walk for around 15-20 minutes to get to restaurants and some type of civilization. The Positives: The staff are amazing!!! They are all so friendly and very helpful! There is one staff member at the bar - Tiger - he is AWESOME! Lots of fun to talk to and is very attentive. The kids club was great! The staff there were pretty cool as well Kamala Massage 2 - amazing! These ladies are great! The swimming pool was fantastic! Always very clean and enough room to accommodate a full resort. Overall we had a good time there, we do wish it would be a bit more central and I think that they should fix the curtains and maybe upgrade some rooms... and open these restaurants and spas that they advertise.

This hotel was in a secluded area in Kamala Beach but still remains family friendly. The food was excellent and staff very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay in Phuket a very memorable one. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to all travelers. There is also a free shuttle to Patong for shopping for those who want more of a selection than. Kamala provides. The location is excellent with local laundry services at the front of the hotel.
"A Great Choice"
08/28/14 Melanie B Adelaide, Australia
This was our 1st trip to Phuket and I had done so much research and looked into so many family resorts that my head was spinning before we actually booked one. What sealed the deal with this one was that it ticked all the boxes for us in that it was kid friendly (our kids are 10, 8 & 5), it could accommodate all 5 of us in the one room (family suite) so no interconnecting rooms, yay, and we got it for a fantastic price for 7 nights. It was an easy trip from the airport in our private transfer, it only took about 30 minutes. The hotel is off the main road and is reached by a side-street that has a few restaurants, about 4 tailors, massages parlours and a mini-mart. There is also a convenient ATM as well as taxis/tuk tuks. The staff at the hotel are lovely and after checking in we were escorted to our family suite and our luggage followed soon after. The suite was lovely and spacious, the bedrooms weren't huge but big enough and the living/kitchen area was a large open area. The bathroom was surprisingly small for such a large suite, but we managed ok. The pool area is really great and it was easy to get a sun lounge as the hotel was relatively quiet while we were there. We spent many fun hours at the pool and were able to have lunch there one day and enjoyed happy hour by the pool some evenings too :-) The water slide was great fun for the kids, and adults too. Our kids used the kids club a few times during our stay and really enjoyed it. One day they did an activity there, but mostly they were happy to chill out and watch a movie or play some games. I attended yoga at the gym while we were there, my first time at attempting yoga, so quite funny! My husband also used the gym and went jogging in the local area as well. Although the hotel is outside of the main Kamala township it is an easy and pleasant walk along the beach to get into town. We just ambled along with the kids so probably took 10-15 minutes to walk there. We had breakfast included with our accommodation package and it was great. There was a good choice of both cooked and continental breakfasts. We also ate lunch and dinner at the restaurant a few times during our stay. No complaints, the food was lovely and reasonably priced too. As mentioned earlier, there are shops close to the hotel which is very handy, especially the mini-mart. The people that work in these shops, restaurants and tailors are all lovely. My husband had 2 business shirts made by 'cheap Charlie' at Krish Tailors and we had dinner at both Baan Mai and Sam's Restaurant, all excellent. We went on a few tours while we were in Phuket and the tour buses were able to pick us up and drop us off at the hotel, which was very handy (even for the Fantasea show which is only just around the corner). The hotel also offers a few shuttle bus service into Patong in the morning and afternoon. We went into Patong on the morning shuttle and then caught a tuk tuk back to the hotel, cost 500 baht. After spending the day in Patong I was glad we had chosen to stay at the peaceful Swissotel, any thoughts I had harbored about wishing to stay closer to the action were quickly banished and I was thankful to return to our piece of paradise! I would definately recommend this hotel for families and for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing hotel.

The service is great. The staff are friendly and willing to help. Pros: hotel has wonderful facilities. Gym was great, they had an instructor if you wanted one (to conduct some free classes too). Pool is free-form and big. Activities for kids too, like a kids water slide and play room which is next to the gym. They have daily activities (some free, some not) which one may book in advance. Ie: yoga, morning runs, cooking class, etc. I had a 1 bed room suite which was very comfortable, clean and big. Beach is about a 5-7min stroll away. Morning buffet spread is pretty good. International cuisine. Cons: it's really out of the way. Getting to Kamala town on a cab is 200 baht per-way & un-negotiable as all the cab & tuktuk drivers have monopolized this. Getting to Patong is about 400-500 baht per way. It's 20-35min drive away depending on traffic. It really isn't that close. Stayed in last week of August (low season) most shops were shut and the whole place was deserted. The town was also dead by 8:30pm. Nothing to do around the area at night, or if it's raining.

We booked a two-bedroom deluxe - huge lounge and pantry, decent size bedrooms and one small bathroom which was very inconvenient given that there were four of us. Breakfast spread was good and service staff was friendly and full of smiles! Kids like the pool with the slide and there was also a pool bar. Beach is about 5-minutes walk away via an underpass and there was a couple of restaurants outside the hotel. There is also a free twice a day shuttle to Jungceylon Mall Patong.

"Started off bad but ended on a high note"

When we arrived after approx 20 hours of travel, including travelling to airports and stop overs we were exhausted. Having a 3 and a 5 year old all we wanted to do was get in our room, have a shower and a sleep. We were told by reception that we may need to wait till midday for our room to be available. This was a shock to us as we have never had to wait for a room when we have travelled internationally before! Needless to say it was painful sitting in the lobby with 2 tired and unhappy children but there was nothing we could do to change it. To further my disappointment we could see people checking in after us and they were getting taken to their rooms. At approximately 11am I went to reception and asked if they could give me an update, the lady looked it up on the system and told me it was ready.... why didn't anyone let us know???? After the initial disappointment I must say we had a wonderful time staying at the hotel. The rooms were just what we needed (we booked 2x 2 bedroom suites as we were travelling with 4 adults and 4 children). We had breakfast included and we are glad that we did it as there were lots of options available for all of us. We loved the breakfast but for lunch and dinner preferred to get out and taste all the beautiful food Thailand had to offer. I have to commend Tiger one of the staff members at Swissotel, he really looked after us and made sure everyone was happy... All the food and beverage staff were also lovely... The hotel is out of the hustle and bustle of Patong but only 400Baht (approx $12 AUS) to jump in a Tuk Tuk to get to Patong to shop and eat. The only other issue we had was a leak in our air-conditioning which caused a puddle in our kitchen but when I advised the reception this was fixed promptly... Overall I would highly recommend this hotel for families as the pool (with waterslide), kids club and activities they have available are fantastic...

We stayed at the Swissotel for a week and I have to say the staff there were super friendly and helpful. That is what makes this hotel unique, the staff. The hotel itself was pleasant and clean. Food was average but service great. Breakfast was a big could do better but as long as you like eggs, bread or traditional Thai breakfast you'll find something decent to eat. The facilities were great. Evidence of multiple leaks on the ceilings and the air conditioning spent in our room which leaked all over the floor in the lounge. It was fixed almost immediately though which was pleasing. The bathroom was seriously small with a massive lounge. That didn't make a lot of sense to me. Location wise, it's a little walk to a number of local restaurants on the beach and a 20 cab journey to Patong where all the action is. The hotel has a free shuttle bus which make it easier. Only reason why I wouldn't go back is the location. We had to walk back from a good local restaurant in the dark as all the street lights were broken on the beach. All the near restaurants were empty which didn't appeal to us so we quickly learnt out options. Either, eat the food at the hotel restaurant which was average, go to an empty near restaurant, go to a good restaurant and walk back home in the dark or spent £40 on a cab there and back to Patong where there are hundreds of restaurants.
