Super cute bar in hotel lobby and cozy courtyard. Room was modern and bathroom was upgraded.

The pictures of the hotel as presented on website do not accurately reflect condition of hotel. The hotel is currently undergoing construction and my room was musty, had unpleasant odors and generally not well kept. For the money spent on this stay I would have been better off spending a few more dollars and getting hotel with a better rating. The staff […] were not accomodating to my needs and the reservation manager was not cooperative with helping me resolve concerns. Also the hotals cancellation policy is a joke and quite frankly I was so concerned that Hotels.com sells rooms for this establishment. My trip was for business nearby and I did not find the room business friendly with only 1 outlet in the bathroom near the light switch. The walls and windows are thin so you can hear people talking in the next room and outside in the courtyard throughout the night. We got a great deal on a nice room in a great location. 1 block from the beach. Clean room. I liked that old school design of the room phone. It felt like we were in Havannah or just your typical tropical type of room. The hotel had a bar and an outdoor courtyard. This okace had great character and ambiance for South Beach. It is within walking distance of all the shops and restauran. Also a very affordable price for the area.

I didn't listen to the reviews before booking my room. I saw the website and I looked at the pictures online and I couldn't believe that this place was anything but perfect. I WAS WRONG. I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED AND READ MORE CAREFULLY WHAT PEOPLE POSTED. PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING!!! First: this place is owned by Beach Place Villas, which books for […] a lower rate. They are adjacent to each other but this place charges more online. THEY ARE THE SAME HOTEL. It is a scam. The moment you walk in you are disgusted by the old building, old furniture, cheap decor and DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY surroundings. Second: Check in was horrible. The front desk receptionist is the rudest most unpleasant person to deal with. He would not allow me too look at the room before I even checked in. ROOM: Once i got my room i immediately called the front desk to change it. i want to leave immediately. The room had a king size bed, with an old duvet comforter, a 22" inch tv [not a 32" plasma like they advertise] and the room was the size of a CLOSET. THERE LITERALLY WAS NO ROOM.There wasn't even space for the ironing board. WE TRIED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY AND CALLED HOTELS.COM. We spent the first 2 hours in miami after driving 4 hours to get there DOING NOTHING but arguing and switching rooms which only got worse as time went on. HOTEL BEDS DIDIN'T HELP US AT ALL. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS OUTSIDE THE US. The Front Desk DENIED US our money back. We asked for a manager, who were told is Ingrid, but she was not there ALL 2 NIGHTS WERE THERE. The only person at the hotel was the front desk guy [who appeared to never leave] THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE. THE LOCATION IS GREAT BUT THE ROOM IS GROSS, DIRTY AND OLD. YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING FROM THE STREETS. I could barely sleep at night with all the noise. We got a completely renovated room during our recent stay, very clean and good size. Comfortable room with flat screen TV. Completely renovated bathroom with nice size shower, very clean. Room service changes sheets every day, which is great. You get free beach towels and WiFi in the room and outside sitting area as well. For the price, this is very […] good value and very conveniently located. The only inconvenience was the recent renovation of the property going on during the day, which was very noisy. Very good proximity to the beach (2 min. walking) and walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. Included in the price is the continental breakfast which is okay, but I would prefer more variety (in addition to OJ/coffee/tea, bagels, muffins and fruit that you get -- I would have liked to have an option on maybe cereal, eggs or other usual continental breakfast items). The staff was very nice and professional. The breakfast is served at 8am-9:30am, which is late if you are staying for business, but should be fine if you are on vacation. Check-out time is 11am. You can catch Bus 150-Airport Flyer which stops 2 blocks from the hotel (it picks-up passengers on the 16th street b/t Collins Ave. and Washinton St. to the airport on your way back). I am on my 2nd night of a 5 night stay - on both nights I have had NO HOT water!!!!! While yesterday the front desk was approachable - this evening the front desk person - Eddie or something is absolutely ridiculous and unhelpful!!! South Beach Plaza Hotel is the perfect place to stay before or after a cruise or for a quick getaway. The location is perfect- so close to center of SB and beaches as well as all of the restaurants and happenings on Ocean Dr. We appreciated the continental breakfast and happy hour out on their front porch, which was relaxing and great for people watching. […] Room was fine too- nothing luxurious, but perfectly comfortable. We knew we would be out at the beach and bike riding and wouldn't be longing for a hotel pool or places to hang, but the front porch was plenty for the times we did. Great value! I usually stay at the hotel, but this time it was a mess. A/C in my room don't work. Front desk try to accommodate switch room, it was worst. I spend over an hr. Finally, I decided to change hotel. It was a nightmare.

Clean and comfortable room with great location. A good value for a Miami Beach stay.

My 5 day stay here was great. I was given a spacious room that had a couch and full kitchen and dining area, including microwave, and full sized fridge. People's reviews complain about the bathroom size, but it was decent enough for me. I've also seen reviews about the room size. Like I said, I was lucky to walk into the spacious room. A friend of mine […] was given one of those smaller rooms, and they truly are small. Definitely not for no more than one person. Another friend was given a spacious room like mine. So I guess it's the "luck of the draw" when it comes to if you will get a spacious room, or one of the tiny rooms. The hotel was in a great location. Just one block away from the beach. The hotel provides free beach towels if you forget to pack your own. It's also a block away from Ocean Drive, where all of the restaurants are. Good walking distance to just about anything while staying here. Did have to catch a cab to Walgreen's to get some things, but that was only like 4 bucks. And FYI, a Walgreen's is being built directly across the street. The staff was very nice and courteous. The bar/lounge has hookah, and me and my friends got to enjoy that while lounging out at night. The internet speed was not a problem. Slowed down a bit one rainy night. Could've been weather. Or could've been everyone was indoors online since it was rainy out. Being located in Collins Drive is a big plus. The hotel is 2 block from South Beach and a block from Ocean Drive. The room that we booked is big and has a lot of wasted space. The bathroom is tiny. They could have expanded the bathroom and make good use of the wasted space. When we checked in, we were told that there is a complimentary wine at the bar […] which wil open in about an hour. However, they did not mention that it is only good from 5-6 M. Also, not mentioned when checking is that there is a complimentary breakfast. Unless, you read the key card protector. The room was a little small, but for the price and location it can't be beat! There were no hidden fees and they can set up tours for you.

Ants got into the room, suspect that there might also be bedbugs. Roomservice missed us one day. Continental breakfeast was not very attractive. Rooms should have minibars in the rooms at least, but my bad for not checking that out. Staff was very nice, except concierge who didn't keep his word. If you come for the beach only, great.

Pleasant, knowledgeable staff. Great convenience to shops, restaurants and short walk to beach. Would definitely recommend to friends.

Some of the staff was nice, and some not so nice or professional. Old building with a lot of potential to be a nice hotel, key word potential. If you are looking to relax, this is not the place for you. The clientele is very loud, and a younger crowd. Old wood floors creek, and you hear every single noise from every room nearby. Doors slam shut, shower […] and faucets are loud, bathroom is smaller then a airplance bathroom, no exaggeration! The sink area in the less expensive room is only 16 inches wide, there is just enough space for a toothbrush and toothpaste, thats it. You can't shave, wash your face or do anything in front of the sink. The A/C was a joke. Hot or freezing settings, and it stays on constantly. The curtains dont open, they don't slide on the curtain rod, so you have to hold them up with something. No table in the room, or any space to put anything on. Read more

this hotel is situated right between the two main hubs of activity, ocean drive and lincoln mall road. the staff were really nice and accomodating, the room was clean with all the amenities including free wifi. i highly reccommend!!

Everything is ok but only Internet signal is bad. I recommend for a couple or friends but not for a family because the room is kind of tiny. No space for kids and keep lots stuff. My room is very clean and staffs are very very nice and friendly

door is not close all the way. locks old and not locking properly . you can hear every tiny sound from outside. sink is so small , you can not to shave in front of it. bad's cover is old and dirty. never been washed .

The South Beach Plaza Villas is a very nice hotel just a few blocks from the beach so it is very close to bars, restaurants, etc... However when we stayed at the hotel the party in the bars and restaurants followed a number of guests back into the hotel. There was music and party noise coming from multiple rooms very audible in our room. This did not […] make for a great night's sleep. We'll take the first shot for booking so close to South Beach and expecting quiet but I think the hotel should take the second shot for allowing the noise to go on well past midnight. We had a very nice stay at the SouthBeach Plaza Villas! I was pleasantly surprised at how an older hotel can still look clean and chic! It was only 1 block from the beach and Oceanfront Ave. and so close to many shops and botiques! It was a steal compared to a lot of other hotels we looked at nearby. I recommend!

Very clean, nice deco style furnishing. Half block to SoBe. Very helpful staff. Free wifi worked in lobby and patio but signal too weak in room. This is not a Hyatt, bang for the buck was great.

The veranda and patio are worth the visit. I've had nicer rooms at budget hotels. I was in the detached building. Rooms in main hotel may be nicer.

We were only there one night, but would like to stay there again for an extended stay. The room was quite small, but this is an older hotel, so it was to be expected. Valet parking was $25/day, but was worth it because you could take the car in and out as you liked and not have to worry about feeding a meter if you parked on the street (if you could […] even find a spot). Except the convenient location of miami beech, this hotel has nothing to recommend... no place to park, slow internet speed, and bad attitude of service...

Please please take my advice, DO NOT STAY at this hotel. It was not worth your price at all. There were additional 15% fee and resort fee you had to pay per person which was additional $50 at your check out which equalivalent to $120 such as a 4 start hotel with nice bathtub and suite at SANCTUARY HOTEL. This South Beach Plaza hotel is horrible,all […] the furnitures were old. there were a chair which i sat on and the dust came out. There was a very old bathroom with extremely small bathtub that had bugs coming out from the drainer. The bed were huge, but it has bumps with sign that it had been overly used for years and never been replaced. when we pull out the sheet, we discovered some hairs on it. We simply couldnt stay at this hotel. We tried to fight for a refund. they just laugh at you saying u can only refund 3 hours before checking in.... It was completely stupid and waste of money. from my experiences and my own eyes, it is NOT rated as 3 star at all!!! its like 1 star!!! I spent 1 week at this hotel. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel to spend my honeymoon on a budget at! The customer service is OUTSTANDING!!! There was one specific front desk worker, Sebastian that treated us like royalty! This hotel is at a perfect location, one block from the beach and Ocean Drive. Overall you can't beat the price for the location. Within walking distance of everything. The rooms are'nt full of amenities, but every room is different which gives the place some character. There is really nice outdoor deck and sitting area on the side of the hotel that is great for hanging before or after going out. We had a few hours after checking […] out before our flight and the staff was nice enough to store our luggage so we would'nt have to haul it around with us. Overall, I'd recommend it if you just want a decent clean place to sleep with no frills, bells and whistles. But not a bad place at all for the location and a very reasonable price on south beach. The room had the bare essentials needed for a hotel stay. The location was perfect. The staff was nice, for the most part. There were a few times where the first scent I smelled when I walked in the lobby or hallway was urine, which was a bother.
