"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel in the theatre district. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic room accomodations but very clean. Would recommend.

"Loved it & will go back"
Reading reviews about the train noise made me a bit iffy to book, but -surprise, surprise- we got the best sleep ever in NYC! Why? Since we didn't hear any emergency vehicles or loud drunk people. Rumbling thunder of trains worked as white noise while we slept, can't say the same about Chelsea or Theater District. Also, room was nice size for 4 people. […] Loved the proximity to Chinatown, Little Italy & East Village. Hint; since there is hot water for instant coffee, bring your own gourmet tea or hot chocolade. As dinner dessert, we bought goodies from Chinese bakery and made our own drinks. This took care of waiting for your turn to take a shower :). Staff was very nice. Read more

"Subway noise"
Beware of rooms facing the Manhatten Bridge. Noise from subway trains can be unbearable at times.
"Don't stay here if you want a good night's sleep.."
Oh my - this was the worst hotel experience we've had in many years....why didn't we realize that being close to the Manhattan bridge might mean that you would actually be NEXT to it, and could hear the traffic from the bridge? And why hasn't anyone else commented on how LOUD the trains are - no kidding it was like trying to sleep through a hurricane […] or under a jet plane engine. My husband started counting how often the trains would shake and BOOOOOOM by and he got to about 2 minutes of silence and then the next one would thunder by. To top it off the smoke detector started to beep loudly around 5 am and we had to get the desk person in to change the battery. After that 30 minute interlude we realized that the trains were stepping up their morning schedule and it was a constant vibration and noise. Not sure how much I slept, but the only upside was that we were only 10 minutes from where the symposium was that I was attending. Unfortunately I wanted a nap at around 10 am and again at 3 pm - yes, maybe the WORST nights sleep since my son was a baby 21 years ago....or since I had major surgery - at least there were good drugs to sedate me after surgery. And - the room was small and the walls are badly in need of new paint. The bathroom was new and clean, but that is hardly worth mentioning and should no way be taken as any kind of recommendation for staying here. The staff wasn't willing to compensate us in any way, as we had already paid through an online booking site. I can't figure who would give this hotel a positive rating - who are you who gives it 3 stars??? Honestly, don't stay here if you would like to sleep at all. Read more
"Hotel 91 in Chinatown, NY"
The hotel itself was nice, location great but I felt like I was sleeping on the train tracks.
"I like this hotel!"
This was my second time staying at Hotel 91 and I have been satisfied both times. It's only a 3 star hotel, so there's nothing fancy to be expected. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable. The rates were very reasonable for the size of the rooms and location. It's in China Town, which I love. It's not a part of Manhattan that is too busy. It's […] a short walk to the 6 and F trains, so it's a quick ride to Brooklyn and upper Manhattan. There is also an amazing vegetarian dim sum place close-by that was a godsend to my vegan buddy who was rooming with me. Both times I have stayed at Hotel 91 I have had my windows facing the Manhattan Bridge, and I never found the noise from the train problematic. It sounds sort of like low, quiet thunder and the trains don't run very often at night. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The only problem is that there is no coffee in the hotel. There is hot water and instant coffee near the lobby, but no real coffee and no coffee makers in the room. I have become a tea-drinker, so it's no problem for me, but it would have been an issue if I were at the hotel in my coffee-drinking days. Read more
"Hotel is under a subway bridge, very noisy"
The location is great for the NYC 1/2 Marathon (near Seaport) and great for Asian food lovers (at the heart of Chinatown). But we did not realize how close it is to a subway bridge. A train roars through every 7 minutes even in midnight. The hotel room is relatively new and spacious by NYC standard. We got a room with 2 queen beds. However, the floor […] was not thoroughly vaccumed. I found food residuals around and one half-empty water bottle when I first checked in. I don't think that I will come back again. Read more
"Hotel 91 - really convenient location"
The Hotel 91 was really great. It was really close to the subway, and was a really great middle point for Manhattan and Brooklyn - which were my 2 main places on interest. Staff was really nice and helpful, I would totally go back. The only real draw back was not having a coffee maker in the room, but the many pro's of Hotel 91 very much outweighed […] this tiny detail. Read more
"Save your money dont go"
Don't go here for sleep the bridge is at your window so cars trucks and the loud train is annoying plus it's no smoking in your own room when I asked for smoking rooms and the fine is $250 if they feel you smoked plus the "wifi" didn't work tv had two channels plus someone knocked on my door and told me to turn my tv off. I couldn't wait to check out. […] This hotel ticked me off not to mention I never got my deposits for the three room I rented!!! Read more
"A terrible stay at the Hotel 91"
One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. When I arrived at 8:30pm I walked through the abandoned corridor that leads to the hotel. The reception is on the 2nd floor, and when I went to the front desk, there was nobody there. So I waited and waited and waited. I then called the hotel's number on my reservation slip and the phone rang and rang […] and rang. Finally 20 mins later (I was keeping track of the time) a guy shows up at the front desk. No apology no explanation. When I told him, I had had been waiting for 20 mins to check in, he gave me a nasty look, then refused to make eye contact with me as he rattled of the perfunctory info about the hotel. My actual room was quite small and had a musty smell. The bathroom floor was spotted with grime and the TV didn't receive several basic channels. The room faced the subway tracks and the noise from the passing trains was quite audible but I'm a heavy sleeper so it didn't really keep me awake. I will never stay at this hotel and I feel I must warn others of this terribly run establishment Read more
"Good For the Lower East Side"
Good place to stay if you're doing things on the Lower East Side. Not too far from the Subway, walkable to a good amount of places. Clean, standard sized room for NYC. One issue: There's no secure entry to the hotel. Anyone can just walk in and hop on the elevator. I didn't ever feel unsafe, but something to consider.
"perfect"
Good alternative ;-)
"good local very simple stay"
very clean, staff was helpful. building is next to train station, but actually enjoyed the sound. close to east broadway stop on metro. great restaurants close. $2 day to store luggage. i would stay again

"Hotel 91"
resembles the local neighborhood pay by the hour hotel/motel. no lobby. heater malfunction with outside weather 25 degrees or lower.
"Kind of depressing"
Really felt stupid Booking this hotel tried to make the best out of it, but would never stay there again for the money there are much much better choices Should be cheaper for what it is....
"Not what I expected"
I feel that the photos dont really reflect the hotel well. It is in the middle of Chinatown, not exactly close to the subway, and the rooms are sparse. I actually enjoyed the sound of the train outside my window, but I don't think others would.
"Hotel 91 in New York is in a great location"
Close to all the subway stations..
"Hotel 91-- Chinatown"
This was a very decent hotel, although very dark and narrow.... sits next to the elevated train and is quite noisy all through the night. You can request one of their more quiet rooms without a window on the 7th floor which worked well, although pretty dark. Very clean and service was wonderful!
"Hotel 91- We made a good choice"
This is a hidden treasure in the middle of Chinatown. The room was spotless, all finishes brand new. Granite and tile in bathroom. Large, comfortable Queen size bed with white duvet. TV, Built in hairdryer. Minimalist style decorating. Poor reading light, bring your booklight. Lobby amenities such as drinks were OK. They have a Zorojishi hot water vessel […] for drinks but terrible instant coffee. We found a bakery in the next block with pretty good coffee. Under the Manhattan Bridge, with the train going over head, not everyone might love it like we did: White noise! Read more
"Stay Away"
HORRIBLE customer service. Misrepresented GROSS hotel. Have already told friends & family who frequently stay in NYC to stay away!!!

"Very Noisy Location"
It's under a Bridge, and as a result is very noisy (the trains run all night). If you're a heavy sleepr, this may not be a problem, however I do not consider myself a light sleeper, and was consistently woken up at 4 am by the trains.
"Cheap but nice place!"
Pros: Near subway station, we walked everywhere in NY, so it was a convenient way to travel. Ethernet cable provided in the hotel room. Clean!! Cons: The TV in the room was fuzzy on most channels, but we didn't come to visit NY to watch TV in the hotel room so it was okay. There was only one elevator for 7 floors of guests and the location was right […] next to restaurants and food markets --> streets filled with food... Read more

"Can't Miss!"
My girlfriend knows that I love Chinatown, but we can't ever get to it early enough when we stay in mid-town. when she reserved a room at Hotel 91, I thought, "what the heck, we'll try it" I loved it! The staff were very helpful; with recommendations, directions and maps to some wonderful Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants that we would have never know […] about otherwise. and it was only three blocks from Little Italy and two blocks from a convenient subway station....The hotel was affordable, very clean and with the double windows, it was totally quiet...We will definitely stay there again. "The Hotel 91 in New York"
Clean and quiet hotel. Very convenient location at walking distance from everywhere in lower Manhattan and close to the subway.
"Good location and value"
The staff was friendly and helpfull with information and suggestions about the immediate neighborhood. When the AC did not seem to be cooling our room correctly we were offered another room right away no problems!
"Nice hotel but very loud and room tired"
Hotel 91 is a nice hotel with basic comforts, but as per the other reviews, it was very loud with the trains over the bridge. The service was adequate and the room was tired. When I turned the shower on it sounded like an A380 taking off and it took a good 5 minutes for the hot water to come through.
"great stay"
excellent hotel no complains at all closed to little Italy and other subways. safe and clean.
"Location"
Though the location is China tonw, this is pretty much inside the building, which is kind of scary at late nights

The room we stayed faced the subway rail, which constantly generated a noise and made us awake several times over night. One of the staffs is really unhelpful and rude. When I asked to call a local cap for a ride to the airport, he answered, "You are on your own." as we refused to take his offer (a ride to the EWR by the hotel (probably not registered) […] cap service with a cost of $55. "Hotel 91- Inexpensive"
Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was small but had everything we needed. The Manhattan bridge subway runs all night but we found it a nice contrast to the silence.
"An awful experience"
'Hotel .com offers a wonderful economical service to travelers. However, the services provided were the lowest provided. The room was an enclosed box with no ventilation, no windows, one wash cloth and face towel for two people. An iron with no ironing board. Water spilling from the iron into the closet. I woke up with insect bites over my thighs. An […] awful night. Please review the quality of the hotel before offering these hotels that don't reflect customer care. The holding fee for amenities was a joke. What amenities? I checked after 11 pm and got out of there as soon as i possibly could the next morning. Sincerely, Ms. Brown Read more
Nice and clean but way too noisy due to the subway nearby and not well located for many touristic activities.
"Hotel 91"
Located in Chinatown, this hotel is not the most convenient for mid-town activities. The hotel was clean, but spartan. There is no food available in the hotel and no coffee in the room. For the price and its location, the hotel was what we expected.
"Clean room, helpful staff"
I would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future. The room was clean, relatively spacious for NYC, and the staff was very helpful, very professional. It was only about 2 blocks from the F subway station, which made travel convenient and the only drawback was the hotel is located on a busy street in Chinatown -- a street that is not only covered […] in trash (like most of NYC,) but smells of fish all hours of the day! I actually held my breath a few times to get to the hotel without getting nauseous! Our room was also quite noisy, since it sat just several feet away from the Manhattan Bridge. I found that I was so tired at night, that it didn't matter and I slept just fine! Overall, I think Hotel 91 is a great value and would definitely stay there again! Read more
"This hotel is not in SoHo"
It is in Chinatown on East Broadway. Was advertised as in Soho on hotels.com. Definitely more inconvenient to get to but fine once inside.
"Hotel 91- Loud but comfy"
Very comfortable hotel but RIGHT next to the Manhattan Bridge and very loud. Bring your earplugs. It was a convenient location, only a few blocks from the F line but in Chinatown.
"Hotel 91 in the little of smelly china town"
This hotel was ok but it is right under manhattan bridge which can be very noisy The first room I had, had the smallest window I have ever seen. And then after showering I could not turn it off so they moved me which was nice Over all hotel was ok for the price
"Things are a little different at Hotel 91"
Things are a little different at Hotel 91.... The hotel lobby/check-in is on the second floor in a building where all first floor tenants have vacated (with the glass walled shops covered in cheesy gold paper). This requires the guest to walk down a deserted (but gold paper lined) hallway to take a (very slow) elevator to the second floor. All hotel […] staff are extremely nice, extremely attentive to guests needs and very helpful (subway routes, restaurants, etc.). Noise and rumble from the Manhattan bridge were barely noticeable. They've got a funky air conditioning system, but it WORKS. The rooms are small and spartan, but very clean, with very comfy beds (and linens are are borderline luxurious). Towels are NOT thick and fluffy, but are VERY white (hopefully due to copious amounts of bleach used in laundering!). The hotel is located on a commercial street in Chinatown. It's jam packed with people during the day, and quiet at night. The good news is that fresh fruit is readily available from street side stalls/shops next door to the hotel (as are a wide assortment of ethnic Chinese foods and other items -- not for the squeemish). The F train is two blocks away. The E train is eight blocks away. Study your subway map: the F train did not take me to the places I wanted to go, and frequent transfers were required! Lower East Side and Little Italy are easy walking distance. The worst thing I can say about the Hotel 91 is that taxi drivers had difficulty finding it. The hotel provides a map with the hotel highlighted: take this with you! The best thing I can say about the hotel is the price: fully $40 per night less than any other hotel I could find for the dates I needed. If you stay, take advantage of the car service that Hotel 91 provides: $35 fare from the hotel to LaGuardia (tip included). The Lincoln Towncar had seen a good deal of mileage, but it was still respectable (since I paid $30 to get from the airport to the hotel in a white knuckle taxi ride, I Read more
"Hotel 91 NYC"
A small off beat little hotel. Clean, reasonable, noisy because of the Manhattan Bridge traffic, OK for a visit where you are just there to sleep in the room, not for hanging out in the room or lobby.
"Believe the reviews"
I use the reviews as check to see if they are all bad. Sometimes they are written by competitors so I take them with a grain of salt. I saw in the reviews that the hotels is right by a train track and noise was an issue. Also some of the TV channels had no sound. I figured this wouldn't be an issue--BUT it was the train ran 25' from my room and the […] noise was a bother at times (about every 15 to 20 minutes). Some of the major channels had no sound that too, was annoying. For what I paid for the room, I would expect a bit better accomodations. Bed was very nice though. Read more
In the middle of Chinatown, excellent since we found many nice playgrounds in the neighbourhood. for our two small kids. Ok rooms, big which was nice. Lovely american breakfastdiner down the road, otherwise it was hard to find non-chinese restaurants closeby. Walkingdistance to soho and little italy.
"NOT FOR ME"
This is the firdt time in a long time I didn't like a hotel I stayed in our first room had a mouse running around we changed rooms but the hotel was not close to the action in new york I had to take a cab that cost 10 dollars or more everytime I went out I can't recommend this one The traveling man
