The Hotel Edda Skogar is located in Skogar, Iceland
The hotel building was designed by Icelands famous architect Gudjon Samuelsson who designed many of Icelands most recognized buildings such as Hallgrimskirkja church and The National Theater - The hotel is located in two buildings - The building was originaly built as Skogar Lower Secondary School and then used as a hotel during the summer time - Now the school has closed and the building is only used as a hotel - The reception - restaurant and part of the rooms are located in the main building - One lounge and more rooms are in the second building which is located in a just 2 minutes walking distance - Every room is equipped with a wash basin and shared bathroom facilities is located on each floor - There is a stunning south coast scenery rising from the remains of an ancient settlement stretching back more than 1000 years that provides the backdrop for the Hotel Edda Skogar - This is the neighborhood of giant glaciers and black sand beaches that contrast with the green beauty of the Skogar forest - Skogar is home to one of Icelands best and most popular heritage museums - Nearby natural attractions include the magnificent Skogafoss waterfall - Eyjafjallajokull glacier and Dyrholaey sea arch
