Cedarwood Inn of Ashland - Ashland

I found this place on hotels.com and took it because it was cheap. The thought was that I would deal with whatever to save a buck. However, when we arrived: the staff was very friendly, the room was large and comfortable and the service was efficient. They have a simple but delicious breakfast. And two pools to boot!

Arrived at 10pm with reservations...office closed. Management came out after 10 minutes. Room/suite was huge with two bathrooms and small kitchen. Quite a bargain for the money, I thought. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom clean! Room large, neat and clean. I'm never happy with carpets. Doesn't matter where I stay. Wish they would shampoo once a week. Very nice people. The manager was very nice. He upgraded me to a king size room, told me he'd put me in an area where it would be very quiet since he had lots of kids coming in. The room was nice, had a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. There was plenty of room to spread out and get comfortable. They also have a continental breakfast, nothing exceptional […] but adequate. There was cereal, muffins, bagels, hard-boiled eggs and oranges. I would have liked some yogurt and more fresh fruit, but since it was free I can't complain. I recommend this hotel. We spent a wonderful 3 nights in Ashland with all the excellent theatre and food. What a dream vacation and so so affordable at the Cedarwood inn. The whole complex reeks of deferred maintenance. The rooms are tiny which would be ok if they were appointed nicely, but the sheets were paper thin, the towels, clean but old and thin, and there was no hairdryer in the room. The television went on, but it would not turn off by remote or on the TV itself. I had to reach behind and unplug it to turn it […] off at night and then I couldn't reach the plug the next morning. There was one heavy black-out cutrtain on the only window, so you couldn't get any light in the room unless you were exposed to the world as well as the cars parked at the front door. The complimentary breakfast which we've come to expect was a sad little affair. There was no decaf coffee and the attendant was complaining to a guest about the high price of different jams. Tacky. The hotel is basic, but very clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and polite. Unfortunately, during my stay wifi was down, but these things do happen and I don't think negatively of the hotel for that. The location was a bit far from downtown Ashland, but for the price I couldn't complain. Overall, an excellent experience.

Rear balcony door did not open. Management did not seemed concerned about it. Breakfast was not fresh food. Creamer was sour, no fruit or yogurt, could not eat in dining area, had to bring food to room to eat. Coffee was bland. Parts of hotel "falling apart". Would not recommend.

It is an older hotel but it is a perfect place to stay for the Oregon Shakespeare festival. It is a five minute drive from this hotel to the festival. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The tv is older but worked and the air conditioner worked great as well. We arrived at 10 P.M. and the office was still open. Check in was a breeze. The lay out of the motel seemed akward until we figured it out. Breakfast was eaten outdoors or you took it back to your room. He insisted that I had reserved a one queen room, until I produced the confirmation from Hotel.com show I had reserved a two queen room. We had the worst room in the place. Blanket was totally filthy gross , air conditioner didn't work in room. It had been 100 degrees outside and by evening with AC on during the day the room was warmer inside than outside. The staff was responsive and very nice. The room size was decent and clean. The bed was a bit hard but surprisingly good to sleep on. Our television had a volume lock on it that no one knew how to get off, some channels we could hear but others not so much. The manager did offer to swap out tvs from another room but we politely declined. Wi-fi is a […] bonus and the signal was pretty good however cell phone reception in our room was horrible. Normally not a big issue but we were there for business and had to go in the parking lot to avoid dropped calls and roaming issues. The pool and sauna were very well kept and clean. The beds were too hard. The management needs to clean out their indoor pool/jacuzzi (chlorine level way too high) and more ventilation inside pool area would be nice tool. There was no way to unlock back door that had a balcony overlooking the pool/jacuzzi. Bathroom window did not lock properly. (Room 304).

Have stayed here many times and in spite of renovations the quality seems to be going down. The management was having a loud BBQ with the staff on Sunday night and a lot of things were just old and needed to be replaced. The bedroom windows were unable to be locked and the screens were bent. The worst part of the stay was the dark, dark, gloomy room […] without proper lighting to be had inside the room. We booked the family suite because we had 4 people and did not want to be crowded. It had two bedrooms separated by a kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, sink, utensils, coffeemaker, etc. that would be great for the family that wants to cook their meals and save money. Each bedroom had a bath with tub/shower or just a shower. The beds were […] very comfortable. Our room (#225) opened to the patio area with picnic tables and fenced pool just beyond. Upstairs was a hospitality room that served continental style breakfasts, juices, coffee, etc and on Saturday, June 16th, the manager cooked up a really good batch of SOS that any military person would certainly have enjoyed. I did! Ashland is a must-see city that is very hospitable and has many amenities that can keep a family busy all weekend. The great downtown area without ANY of those crummy, fast-food franchises makes for some wonderful dining experiences, and a visit to Lithia Park will certainly want to make you move to Ashland. There are two pools. The warm indoor pool is like a really big hot tub that could accommodate about fifteen people. Try it! The only negative is that maid service for the rooms was slow.... I had placed the "clean room" tag outside on the door, but we came back to an un-made-up room. It was our mess anyway, BUT, it is something that some folks might find disconcerting. It is an older hotel but it is our favorite for when we visit Ashland for the Shakespeare festival. It is far from the downtown area so it is quiet and restful. A great value.
