"I'd stay again."
My sister and I stayed here for four nights. We'd both happily go back and stay if we ever make our way back to Naples. The hotel locaion wasn't the greatest but is centrally located bout 1/2 mile from both the main Ferry Terminals and the Central Train Station. It's possible to take the Alibus from the Airport and walk to the hotel from either stop or grab the metro. There are various stores, restaurants, and a metro station a couple blocks from the hotel. The staff here was great. My luggage didn't make it to Naples on my flights and the day-time front desk employee held onto my information and made periodic phonecalls to check on my luggage and get updates to arrange for delivery by the airline. He's was always very friendly and did everything possible to be helpful even though my Italian is non-existant and his English was not quite fluent. Although there may have been a few areas where the hotel could be updated a bit and/or some repairs made due to normal wear and tear, the hotel cleaning people kept the place spotless, both in the room and common areas. (I think you could have eaten off the floors.) Also, breakfast was included with the room, which is a bonus. It wasn't anything to write home about, but it was a good simple and filling meal.

"Ideal location"
The hotel was clean and comfortable, though not luxurious, and the staff members were friendly and very helpful. It's located in a very convenient place, within easy walking distance of just about everything you want to see in Naples, and only one metro stop from the train station. I liked it - and the city - so much that I stayed for a 6th night.

"Nice convenient hotel in Naples"
Hotel del Golfo was a pleasant surprise for us on our recent Italy trip. I selected the hotel based on price and location and some review information. For location it is very close to the Universitta Metro stop and walking distance to the port for travel to the islands. It is one street back off of a main street and traffic circle that has some nice facilities and restaurants, but the street itself is dirty, features lots of cars, and colorful Napolitanos. but that is also interesting. The hotel was friendly with a nice breakfast. Our room was larger than all of our other more expensive hotels with a walk onto a balcony. Nice bathroom and working elevator.

"Clean, Efficient"
The street is littered with trash, and frightening at first. But then, when one finds their way around Naples, one learns that ALL the streets in Naples are littered with trash and frightening. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, with modern bathrooms, air conditioning. The breakfast was an adequate continental one. Certainly plenty of choices to start the day.

This hotel was in the main excellent, especially for the price. However, the air conditioning unit in the room was very loud which kept me (Mrs Harlow) awake at night. The area could have been better but suppose that is the side streets of the older part of town. As soon as you got to the main road, just around the corner, it was fine. Also, the website states that the hotel has a bar but when we asked they could only offer 5/6 spirits which we did not like. No beer, coca cola, soft drinks etc. The staff were, other than that, very friendly and helpful.

Room quality was very good. Bathrooms and room interior were very modern, clean and well looked after. The hotel appears to have gone through a recent renovation. The hotel was very centrally located to all the historical sights, churches, plazas. The employees at the hotel spoke no English, communicating was very hard, the employees were not that helpful when trying to give directions. The room was very big and comfortable, The breakfast was good including, meats, cheeses, breads and great coffee. I would recommend this hotel , but don't know if we would stay here again since we like to try new hotels wherever we go.

We stayed for a total of 5 nights, and found Albergo del Golfo to be the perfect location for going to the Central Station (for taking trains to Pompeii and Amalfi) as well as the port Molo Beverello (where you’ll be taking the ferry to Capri and other islands). Also within walking distance to other major locations such as Piazza del Plebiscito and Royal Palace. It is easy to find once you locate where you are in relation to Piazza Bovio. The area is where the locals shop and live, so we had no issues walking back to the hotel at night after dinner. Everybody at the Hotel – day and night staff – are very friendly and helpful. We got everything we needed, exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and service. I would recommend this place to any friend of mine.

"Nicer than most..."
Naples as a whole has a different living standard. Besides the posh areas most of the streets are littered with trash and look sketchy. Every street looks like this. Hotel del Golfo is a 15 min walk from the train station. Lots of remodeled rooms that were quite nice. Staff were friendly and helpful since I don't speak Italian fluently. Cheap. Free wifi and breakfast. I'd stay there again.

"Good value hotel"
I stayed here only for one night with my son age 27 and daughter age 23 on our way back from Sorrento to London. We had the triple room number 204 and I was very impressed with it considering this is a three star hotel. There were three full size single beds with plenty of space. There is also a small sofa in the room, a tv and a small fridge and the wi-fi worked well. The room was large and had a small french balcony onto the street. The bathroom had a good sized efficient shower and lots of towels and toiletries. A few hooks to hang clothes and towels would make use easier but it was very pleasant. There is a good lift and a roof terrace which was quite nice to sit out on.the location is in a rather noisy backstreet but it is very near the metro and buses and we walked to the port and Chiaia. For dinner we found a very good and very cheap small local taverna serving pizza and pasta on a small side street off Corsa Umberto - just walk out of the hotel take the street to your right onto the main road then turn left and walk for a short distance until you see it in a side street over the other side of the road. It was a very good meal and only cost 34 euros with one course, salad, wine and beer for the three of us.We were the only tourists there amongst lots of locals. The hotel ordered a taxi for us to get to the airport for our early morning flight and that cost 25 euros and took about 20 minutes.I would stay in this hotel again if I visited Naples.

"Comfortable hotel near to nicer part of Naples."
A four night trip to Naples in May 2015 saw us stay at Hotel del Golfo. A well placed base for the city, most especially away from the main rail station area which is not a particularly pleasant area. Easy access for metro & trains to visit the rest of the city and bay of Naples. Our room was large and cleaned every day. We had a small balcony which just gave a view of the road, but best bit on third floor is the little sun terrace. Breakfast was good each morning with bread, meat, cheese and fruit. Coffee was from a machine, but good quality. We speak Italian, which always helps, but staff were pleasant and seemed keen to try English and. German with other guests. Not certain that we need to visit Naples again, but have already recommended this hotel to friends.

The hotel has all the potential to be great but some things need to improve. Staff could be more welcoming and the rooms could be a bit cleaner. "Fair for the Price"
As soon as we reached there we were a bit worried by the condition of the approach & even the condition of the reception(It is possible that we felt this way because we had come from comparatively good hotels from Florence & Rome which cost more than double the price)we did not feel at ease , as the reception staff did not appear too friendly & nor were they smartly dressed & some of the staff looked as though they had just got out of bed. However staff who were on the late shift were more friendly & were helpful. Over the period of our stay things seemed to get better, or we just got used to the new atmosphere. We had seen a trip advisor rating of 4 out of 5 I think & that was the bit that we could not reconcile with, as we could not understand how that rating was acheived. The room was big & comfortable. The bathroom was new as well but did not have places to hang clothes etc nor to keep the soap & shampoo in the bath unit. One towel had a hole in it, but it was clean. The place was really central.Could walk to many attractions. The metro gave you connections to mainline travel to travel out to pompei & other sights. Walking distance to the harbour to visit the islands. We also found that most roads looked dirty & rough. We had read that people picked pockets & that we had to be very careful, but none of our group encountered any issues. Could have been because we looked like people from Naples(Immigrants who were not that rich). The fittings & furniture was good.Bad presentaion

"Good economic hotel in central Naples"
The hotel is some way from the main train station but is very close to a metro station. I arrived before the stated check in time but was able to enter my room after a short wait. The room was clean and had heating/air conditioning, a safe and a shower with good water pressure. There was also decent wifi and a TV though the remote didn't work well. In the morning a buffet breakfast provided - this wasn't extravagant but was very reasonable for the price of the room. On the day I checked out I was able to leave my luggage at the hotel until late in the afternoon; it wasn't locked away but was near the front desk and still there when I returned. I wasn't a fan of Naples but was satisfied with the hotel.

The hotel is very clean and situated in a fantastic location, walking distance into the city centre and railway station. The staff were not particularly friendly but they were not rude either. "Comfy beds and great location"
The staff at the hotel were very helpful with all our questions on the surrounding area. If your trip involves alot of pizza, this is the best spot to be in to scout out the best Napolitan pizza all within walking distance. Be warned though, the metro (Universita) is not finished yet so you will probably need to reach the hotel by taxi from the airport or nearest open station. Taxi from the hotel to airport was booked by the receptionist and was a fixed price of 20 euro (avoids you getting stung by unscrupulous taxi drivers hoping they can make more from an unknowing tourist) Easy to walk to a number of tourist sites within the area

"Newly refurbished but uncomfortable"
The hotel has recently been refurbished and looks great on the inside. It is in a pretty decent location with lots of good restaurants nearby, 20 minute walk from the main train station and in what seemed like a fairly safe area of town. The room was very well presented and of a very good size as well as being very clean. There were several downsides though. The room was really hot when we first arrived late in the evening, we thought this wouldn't be a problem thanks to the air conditioning, but thanks to the size of the room we had to leave this on for most of night and it was extremely noisy, making it difficult to sleep. The hotel website claims that the rooms are soundproof, this was certainly not the case in our room as we could hear everything in the adjacent stairwell and a fair bit of noise from adjacent rooms. This, combined with the noisy aircon meant that out of three nights we didn't sleep well once. The breakfast is fairly basic but about the sort of thing that I would expect for the price.

The rooms are large and spacious. The breakfast is adequate for the price. The staff are helpful and give good tips when asked. The location looks rough at first glance but is actually ok and is right on the edge of the Old Quarter. The same can be said for Naples in general - it looks a bit intimidating at first but is actually a vibrant and welcoming city. The hotel and the city are recommended, especially if you want to see a bit more of the authentic Italy.

Hotel was is a nice easy location, within easy reach of transport links. It's on a quiet backstreet and away from major noise. Hotel staff were really pleasant and helpful. Only major criticism was that there were no tea and coffee facilities in the room and that the Internet was generally less than useless. "A mixed opinion of the hotel"
I had to wait for my room to become available as there was already a guest in the room who was expecting to stay a further night. Whether this was the hotel's or the guest's fault, I am not sure. Eventually the room was cleaned and made available to me at about 3.00pm, 2 hours of waiting, which spoilt the first afternoon, and was a waste of my time. The hotel inself was in a dirty, busy street, near to the University. It was about 15 minutes walk to the port area and about 20mins walk to the Station. The hotel itself was clean inside, the staff were helpful and the room was cleaned each day except for the final night when it was strangely not cleaned, The breakfast was very basic. For the price it was about right.

The hotel is in a good location for access to airport and local transport, and walkable to most central locations. Don't be put off by run-down look of the street; it's not unusual in central Naples and is perfectly safe. Inside, the hotel is modern, clean and pleasant. The only criticism I have is, in a city renowned for good coffee, why is the breakfast coffee mediocre?

"Good value central budget hotel"
Arrived late at night via airport bus with a half mile walk from Molo Beverello. A little daunting as the hotel is located in a back street off a large square, but I need not have been concerned as the area appeared trouble free. Check in was quick and efficiently carried out by the excellent English speaking David. He gave me some good information on local conditions, where to go/where not to go, restaurants, etc.The other receptionists were not as fluent. I found my own room which was on 4th floor via the lift. It was very warm in the room so had to switch a/c on by touch pad mounted on wall which sorted things out, it also gave weather readout. I travelled solo but was given a double room at no extra cost. It was spacious and clean throughout. Facilities included large f/screen tv, small fridge, keypad safe, shower room, basic complimentary toiletries. The hotel has been renovated during the last couple of years but there were certain elements on my floor that were still not completed (some floor lighting and tiles). Breakfast was adequate and served in a pretty soulless room with self serve cereals, croissant, toast, yogurt, crispbreads, cake, fruit, coffee, tea. There was a toilet in the hotel lobby but this had no water for hand washing. After checkout, bags could be stored in an area in front of reception. To sum up, a good standard budget hotel, situated in an area far enough away from less favourable areas but still close to the tourist hotspots. Wifi did not work.
