Very convenient to Newport news Airport. Definitely will need a rental/car to get around to travel to surrounding towns. Mall right across the street and plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

The only bad thing about our stay was the television. We wanted to relax in our room and watch the Sprint Cup race in comfort but the station was constantly breaking up, reception was intermittent. We ended up at the bar area in the lobby because those TV sets were satellite not digital. It was not a comfortable way to watch the race.

Marriott is our preferred lodging among chain hotels. Reasonably priced, reliable quality and overall good value. This one did not disappoint. In town for a church event and only spent one night. Quite satisfied. Conveniently located right off the interstate with several decent eateries nearby.

I stay at this hotel frequently. USUALLY the hotel staff is very helpful..this past visit wasn't the case. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly or accomodating at my most recent stay. The room was not as clean as usual. There was hair on the toilet seat and in the shower, the room had zero towels, no bag for the ice and the toilet paper roll was […] at far less that 1/4 of a roll. The room was very clean and had a "spa" feel to it. The bathroom was large and the shower was very large as well. There were no tissues even though they had a tissue box cover and there was no bath mat but otherwise a very quiet, enjoyable stay. Even though it is near the Newport News/Williamsburg airport it was very quiet. We will stay again!

The hotel was dead when we stayed (Christmas Eve), I mean really - there were 2 cars in the parking lot, one was ours. The bartender and chef on duty were so nice and gracious to stay and be friendly with us when Im sure they just wanted to get home for the holiday. Super nice staff for sure. One problem I had was that while the room was definitely the prettiest most elegantly designed room we'd stayed in that trip (8 other hotels, some 4 star), the room wasnt cleaned well. There were many stains in the tub and i found old deoderant stick on the floor. They paid big bucks for the design of the hotel which looked amazing, but need to tighten the reigns on the cleaning crew clearly. Oh! We have recently moved to Virginia from the west coast and the hotel staff has made our arrival so much more pleasant. It started with the fact that we arrived late at night with TONS of luggage and 2 babies and the receptionist helped us carry everything to our room and was super nice about it. I expected MORE from a Marriott hotel! We checked in very late (2am) with a pre-arranged booking. Got to our room and I noticed in our bathroom that there was only 1 bath towel and a couple of hand towels! I was too tired to do anything about it either that night or even the next morning! The room doors have a deadbolt lock system that is absolutely […] insane. You put a card in to unlock but when you go to leave, the deadbolt for some reason doesn't allow the door to close, UNLESS you let the door slam! All night, our neighbor's door was being slammed shut and remember we checked in at 2:00am, very tired! Then the lights! In order to have the bathroom light on, you have to push a master switch which then turns on a light in the bedroom too so you can't go to the bathroom quietly without waking up your husband! Crazyyyyyyyy! Not at all satisfied with this, except that my husband went downstairs in the morning and came back up with a starbucks cafe latte for me! That was a very welcome surprise treat! The front desk person brought us more TP to our room when we ran out and the front desk has things like toothpaste etc for no additional cost. Lots of restaurants close but the main road running by this hotel has a TON of traffic and is kind of inconvenient.

The Courtyard by Marriott in Newport News exceeded all of our expectations! Plenty of parking, lovely exterior--both the building and the landscape. Beautiful lobby area, complete with a small bar and snack area. The rooms are gorgeous with the most comfortable bed that I have ever slept in. Every staff member I encountered was extremely pleasant and went out of their way to be helpful. The man who checked us in changed the floor of our room so we could be near my aunt who was traveling with us. He also took $30 off of her room rate because she had been incorrectly quoted over the phone. The woman tending the bar area was very friendly, as was the man who checked us out. This hotel was located near everything we wanted. The staff was very accomodating, the lobby has a nice bar and big screen tv. Starbucks coffee in the lobby. Doesn't have breakfast like many other chains, but we knew that going in to it. Overall, very satisfied with our stay.

We spent two nights at the Courtyard by Marriott in Newport News. The experience was fantastic. The rooms were clean and very roomy. We had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable experience in Newport News. There were four (4) adults who stayed in the room and the two queen beds worked fine for us. The Courtyard Newport News was a definite suprise. The modern flair and atmosphere was great. We stayed on a Saturday and the vibe in the lobby was "good time for all." There were several military families there, I believe saying farewell to their loved ones who were leaving for duty. There are several newly built shops within walking distance, but none were open just yet. Once they are open, the neighborhood of the hotel is going to be pretty nice. I was very pleased with the distance to the beaches, colonial williamsburg, the very close mall, and good food. the accents and design highlights in the room was very nice.
