This hotel was nice and clean! TV wasn't a flat screen but that didn't bother me! And no BED BUGS!! The only thing that sucked was the wireless Internet. It didn't work! Right by the boardwalk and neighborhood was fine. But overall I give it a 4 out if 5!
"cute, clean hotel"
The hotel was actually on par with Atlantic City's better casinos in terms of cleanliness, room quality, and service. However, our stay there was ruined by the fact that the heat in our room was not working at all. Unfortunatly, upon arrival we dropped our bags off in the room, turned up the heat, and left for dinner. The hotel staff was very nice, but thehotel is is need of major renovations. All the seams in the wallpaper were peeling. the tables/chairs were scuffed and damaged. There was no water pressure in the shower and the shower fixtures were not attached to the wall. "Totally Disappointing"
Hotel restaurant was still closed due to Sandy (not reflected on the web site) and when we arrived, the key system was not functioning (needed security to enter room). No hot water when we arrived (came back next morning). "NEEDS RENOVATION"
The only thing that saves this hotel from being a 1 star venue is the responsive, courteous, staff. The first night of our stay It was super cold in the room.This was fixed and stayed ok for the remainder of the stay. The furniture in the guest rooms is old, there was a lack of electrical convenience outlets,room lighting was poor and carpets need to […] be replaced. Lavatory sink drain was slow. Toilet was extremely noisy during flushing; to the point you would wake up others within the room when used in the middle of the night. In fact, I could hear the next door neighbor's toilet when flushed. Water flow out of the shower head was scarce. The pool area is horrible. Some bath towels had stains. Restaurant service was great one day and terrible the next. No food service after 9:00 p.m.; had to walk next door to another hotel for dinner. You need to review this hotel's ratings urgently. "Nice Hotel, Great Location."
My wife & I really liked the place as soon as we walked into the lobby. It has a feeling of old-classy, like out of an episode of Mad Men. The only issue was that there was not a tub, just a stand-up shower. The water never got really hot. My boyfriend and I decided to take a weekend and go to Atlantic City. Our room at the Chelsea was beautiful! Beachfront King. "Iffy if I would stay again"
The first room we entered had an Unflushed backed up toilet. We asked to upgrade to an ocean view. For an additional 30.00 there is a tiny cut out window. Bed and sheets clean and comfortable. Hotel was very near the boardwalk The room was clean as was the bathroom , comfortable and nicely decorated . The room was beautiful. I loved the shower with the glass wall, the bedding was extreamly comfy and the decor was great. I alsoliked the in room alcohol selection... now the negatives.. the location of the hotel puts it in a place I would not revisit and the so called "ocean view" room I paid extra for had a 2 foot wide x 3 foot tall window in the corner […] of the room to look out of. The clientele the night I stayed there was scary due to the night club on the 5th floor. When I walked intothe lobby at 1am in the morning it looked like a gang hang out complete w security, was crammed into a elevator w sweaty drunk people on my way to my room followed by security on the 18th floor (where I stayed) knocking on someones door. We stayed at the Chelsea for our 10th anniversary. The hotel was clean and the room was very comfortable. The service was sub-par and no one was overly friendly or accomodating. The jaccuzzi shown on the web site was not incuded in our stay. This seemed obsured to us. The restaurant was not open despite idications that it would be open. The free parking […] indicated on hotels.com does not exist, it is $15 valet. There was not a coffee pot in the room and we had to walk out of the hotel into one of the casinos for our morning fix. "Comfortable room, but poor service"
We stayed 3 nights. After the first night, they removed our used towels but did not replace them with clean ones; we had to call to get two towels (3 would have be nicer). The second day, we were gone from the room for about 4 hours in the afternoon, while a "Clean Room Please" label hung on the door. Our room was never cleaned. Service in the lounge […] was nearly non-existent. We did not eat in the restaurant, but did get good service by the pool. Checking in took a long time. Only one person behind the reception desk at 4:30 pm, and she was not processing the 4-5 people in front of us very quickly. I assumed, incorrectly, that a King-Ocean Room meant Ocean Front. "The long queue to check in"
My overriding memory of this hotel was the 1hr 20mins wait to check in. There was also a bit of a wait to valet park & to collect the car. They have a policy of no check in prior to 3pm,this in itself was not an issue but I suppose it may have had a knock on effect later on. The place was mayhem! 4 checkin desks but the entire lobby area was full of […] winding queues to check in. They did odder water, fruit & other nibbles to the queing masses but I would have rather had a speedy check in like i did with all the other 7 hotels I stayed in on the same trip. The room itself was fine, it looks like it got a make over about 3-4 years ago with an effort to give the hotel a "boutique" feel, however youcan see signs already that this finish will not endure. We had a small bite to eat in the bar near the pool area, service was OK & the food was OK too. I didn't really like Atlantic City, very run down in parts, definitely the least pretty place on our trip. "No luxury here"
Nothing about the hotel was luxury status. Furnishings throughout the hotel were very unattractive and in some cases looked ready for the junk heap. We had only 2 bath towels in the room upon arrival and I called the desk to request 2 more and asked that we have 4 at all times - maid service did not comply. When we had extra towels delivered the second […] time one towel had black stains on it and another had a big hole in it. I also requested another bar of soap as there was only one - never in any other hotel did I ever see less than 2, one for the sink and one for the shower. A big big disappointment was the lack of hot water - it was usually lukewarm at best. All places I've seen also have 2 wastebaskets, one in the living area and one in the bathroom. Chelsea has only one. The air conditioner was extremely loud. Some people will very much miss having a coffee machine in the room. The sliding closet doors had no track on the floor so they just hang loose. I have no idea how they get away with calling the Chelsea a luxury hotel and charging luxury tax!!! "Super Hotel for Beach Lovers"
Our room was lovely, the bathroom very up to date, and the king bed was very comfortable. I thought the main lobby needed some updating. The floor with the best view of the beach (5th) where Chelsea Prime was; was a dissapointment since it was only open on Thurs.-Sun. We wanted to have a drink there and look at the wonderful view of the beach and everything […] was closed. Why would you waste that spectacular view? At least have the bar open at 5:00 pm. "2 nights at The Chelsea"
My daughter and I were in Atlantic City for some mother-daughter time and had never stayed at The Chelsea before. Staff were very attentive, polite and friendly. Our room was a Luxe King Bayview with a view of the pool and ocean. The room was slightly rundown with a large crack in the window, but otherwise very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. […] I often don't sleep well in hotels but I slept as well as I do when I'm home. We didn't use either pool but did go down to the beach and were given a large,complimentary umbrella along with lounge chairs to sit on and towels to use. Very nice and accommodating, young men set everything up for us after we picked out our spot on the beach. We only ate at the Teplitzky for breakfast the morning we checked out and the food was good although service was somewhat slow. I can't say as we used the gym or spa as we were in Atlantic City mostly to enjoy the beach, do a little gambling and shop in the outlets. Overall I was pleased enough that I would stay again. Friday night was rough. The fire alarm went off at about 130 and we had to evacuate. at about 230 the couple in the room next to us started screaming at each other. Chelsea is good from far and far from good. Don't be fooled by stylish decor and cool vibe. In general, this place is a mess. "A Big Disappointment"
I reserved an Ocean King room. The first room we were given had a very small single window from which we could see the ocean and the larger window looked out at a ocean sized parking garage. The front desk graciously changed our room to one with a "direct" ocean view when I called - but why did I even have to ask? The hotel decor is very dark and dingy, […] desperately in need of an upgrade. The lighting in the rooms is terrible. To get wireless internet access I had to stand in the hallway. "Horrendous customer service"

"5 year Anniversary RUINED"
My wife and I decided to do something special for our anniversary and from the pictures on the hotels.com website, it looked very nice. When we arrived on our anniversary day around 12:30pm, we were instructed that the room wasn't ready and to come back around 3pm. When we returned at the advised time, there was a line that was extending the length […] of the room and back around. I had gone up to the front and asked since we were here much earlier and our bags (and car) had already been checked in, can we please have a small concession of having priority of checking in rather than waiting on the line ... being our special occasion. I was dismissed in a very cavalier way and was forced to sit on a line for over 2 hours ... finally getting into my just before 6pm - 6 hours after we arrived. Since our dinner reservations at our favorite spot was at 7pm, we had to cancel them since they were booked and no other reservations available.
