"Nice AC Hotel"
Just stayed one night, came down for a friends birthday. I would have loved to stay longer and see AC for another day, but the hotel had a wedding coming in and wouldn't let us leave our bags or car in the lot we paid for and one of the bellhops was very rude about it. "Don't eat at The Taplitze - otherwise mostly good"
We first stayed at The Chelsea Hotel in August 2011, and considered it a hidden gem so returned in October 2011. Both experiences were great. I stayed in Atlantic City for two nights for business. Upon check in I was immediately assigned to a room in use by another guest. I quickly returned to the front desk where the agent apologized for the inconvenience, offered to remove the parking charges for my stay without being asked, and assigned me to another room. The wi-fi connection was so bad and unreliable that I had to spend my time in a couple of local Starbucks to get my work done. Every once in a while I got a signal and was able to send an e-mail, but most of the time it was down. There is a very limited room service menu, especially during the week. The staff was very nice and very polite. The room was kept clean. The hotel is very close to the Tropicana if that is a place you enjoy. All in all, a very average stay. This hotel was billed as a 4 star hotel on Groupon - they're lucky if they get 1 star. The hotel looks nothing like the photos. The pros of this hotel were the closeness to the Boardwalk, on-site diner, and salt water pool. The best perk was that you walk to the beach and get set up with lounges, towels, and an umbrella. "Not what I expected"
The hotel advertises itself as a four star, luxury hotel but it wasn't. The hotel staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, and location by the boardwalk was great but that's where the compliments stop. In our room the wallpaper was peeling, the tub was stained, and the floor around the toilet rusted and brown. Pleasantly surprised. Location is down on boardwalk but 3 minutes to the Tropicana snd seconds to the boardwalk.Diner like restaurant 2 minutes away on Boardwalk. "THE RUDEST STAFF"
This hotel does not just make you feel unwelcome, they make you feel like dirt. I have a baby 1.5 old. We checked in a 7pm on a Friday there were a lot of young drunk kids in the lobby at the time. i asked him to make sure i have a quite room where i don't have to here drunken young couples..... my response "i got you" over and over without eye contact. […] i get a room next to screaming girls. i complained they told me we are fully booked for tonight nothing we can do. I asked for a frig for my child's food. they told me no problem it didn't come til the next morning. I ordered hot water and tea for my child, they said that they can send it up - HOT WATER AND A TEA BAG FOR 11.66 are you kidding me. i was not told until check out about the price. The air conditioner had a problem, they sent a repair man about 3 hours later. by far the worst service ever. At check out my child was taking his afternoon nap so i figured ill pack the car in the mean time. The valet did not want to bring down my car so i can pack it saying the hotel policy is once we take your car out you have to pay an additional 15 dollar to put it back in the parking lot. i explained to them that i have a child sleeping and i would like to take the time to clean my car and pack it so when my child wakes up we can go nice an easily my response was No Can Do. i give this hotel an over all ZERO. honestly, I had no problem at all besides the long wait for the elevators. it's right on the ac boardwalk, right next to the trop (which has great dining,clubs,gambling) and i loved it because it wasn't over crowded or noisy like other hotels with casinos are. We checked in here under the impression that the hotel was a four star property with an acclaimed steak house restaurant. Both are incorrect. "Luxury? Compared to what"
In the elevator upon arrival we were greated by a frowning guest, "strip your bed, I found a little surprise in mine." 11th floor we met the odor of must and mildew. Sadly, our trip was cut short by an emergency at home, we had to check out early. "Seriously in need of some MAINTENANCE"
The room was nice and clean, that is the only positive I can say about this hotel. Staff was overwhelmed. There were 3 people at check in with about 25 people in line. While I observed the situation I noticed that there must be a problem with their computer system as every other customer had some kind of issue which the manager had to override which […] took him away from checking in others. The elevators (of which 1 of the 3 was broken for our full stay) were extremely slow. When they finally arrived staff would push their way in past guests. Not very customer oriented..... We called down twice to have a light replaced in our room (burned out). Maintenance never came and it was still not working when we checked out. There are only 3 lamps in the room and with one broken, it was very dark The rooftop pool was nice whereas the ground floor pool was dirty. Beach Club was perfect.
