MANOIR HOVEY - North Hatley

This was the most expensive hotel on our Quebec trip, but it was absolutely worth it. The manor house is a beautiful building with lovely grounds and gardens, overlooking the lake. The hotel excels in practically every category, but the most impressive feature was the hospitable staff. They went out of their way to take care of us, show us around, bring […] us food or drink in any random spot on the grounds, all in a completely make-you-feel-at-home way. It's clear that the owners set the tone of amiable host who will do anything to make you feel comfortable, and that tone is carried through all the staff. The restaurant is also superlative, I would say worthy of a Michelin star. (The classic Michelin definition: this is a place worth making a trip to.) We took the lowest price room, which was still plushly furnished with all you'd expect in a high-end hotel, just without the extra space or prime lake front views that more money would get you. Manoir Hovey is a gorgeous resort, on the west side of Lake Massawippi, near North Hatley. The lake is beautiful, and all of the surroundings. The accommodation is superior in every way, the service is friendly and attentive, with every need anticipated. The dining is superb, often inventive, always professionally served. Great wine list, too. There's […] a lovely pool for swimming, though the lake is available. Canoeing, boating, fishing (huge trout), and tennis courts. Wonderful English herbaceous gardens, lots of quiet places to sit, read, enjoy the amenities and the views. There's not one thing that I'd improve, except a future wish to stay longer than four days.
