Hotel could use some updating but the room was clean and the desk clerk was very helpful. Not sure what people are talking about it not being safe but some people are more paranoid than others. We walked to Beale Street and back at night and had no problem. Good value. Would definitely stay here again.

There wasnt a fridge in the room but since we were close to the ice machine we figured it would be fine...ice machine didnt work on our level nor the level above and below us; they were all fixed and working the next day. Will not be booking this hotel again. We arrived with 3 people working and no wait but they sent us to a room with the wrong keys. then changed our room and told us to go there and wait for new keys. We waited for over 15 minutes and had to call them back before guy showed up. Got in room and not a single towel. Called and asked for towels and we received […] two face clothes and two towels only. Linens were thin, matress old and chairs stained and arm of one was almost broke it was so loose. Breakfast was on 9th floor with NO signs leading the way and room was very balnd. The price was $20 more than advertised.($30 if you include parking) Room was not fully clean. The coffee pot was not emptied and the bath tub needed to be redone. Overall, it was cheap for the location. But only if you are on a budget and have low expectations do I recommend this place.

Didn't care for the $60 rate turning into $80 with taxes and "fees." Also had to pay $10 more to park...that being said, it was still the best bargain around. Older but in great condition -- and since it's older, the rooms were nice and large. Short walk to Beale Street, even shorter to ball park. Felt safe returning to hotel after dark.

Not a very good place . Had hair on the bed spread , hair in the shower drain. I had to call the front desk because of the shower. They accidentally checked us out a day early so when we got back to our room one night our keys didn't work and we had to go back from the top floor down to the bottom floor where the front desk was and the person behind […] the counter thought it would be funny to make a joke about needing a tip to make the key work again. This hotel was great for the location, service, and price. The staff was very kind and greeted us each time we walked by. Room was clean and was just what we needed for our short stay. It took us about three minutes to walk to the peabody and about a five minute walk to Beale Street. Parking in their garage is an additional $10 dollars.

Here's the pros: 1) Walking distance (6 blocks) to Beale 2) Walking distance to Peabody hotel and Rendezvous Here's the cons: 1) Unsecured parking at $10 a night 2) Unsecured elevator that connects the parking garage, street and hotel rooms. Anyone can come onto your floor. 3) Major construction on all floors with many rooms left open and the smell […] of paint. 4) Front desk staff is stale and unfriendly 5) our first room had the carpet recently shampooed and was so damp that the water seeped through our luggage and shoes. The tv was also broken. 6) Common guests of the hotel were party animals. the guests next to us were banging on the walls and shouting til 5am. The Front Desk was called but no action was taken. 7) our second rooms bed springs were so old that we slept in a ditch in the middle of the bed. It was very hard on out backs. This hotel is not family friendly, safe, nor comfortable. I will be forking out the additional $50 a night to stay at the double tree which is right around the corner and received 5 stars from me last year when we stayed in Memphis. Read more

The horrible experience started right when you walk in the front door! Front desk worker was on the phone with a friend having a conversation for atleast 15 mins while I stood there waiting to check in after a 3 hour drive here. After he searched for 10 mins for the reservation he finally found it and then proceeded to tell me that there was a $20 dollar […] parking fee and that there was no free parking. After making it to our room, riding up the un-maintenanced elevator there was NO wifi. Called the front desk to let them know we could not connect and said well they didnt know but would reset it..Still could not connect and finally gave up. There had been multiple complaints about it because i heard phone calls about it while checking in. Also stated, there was supposed to be a refrigerator and microwave...none there. Later that morning we called to find out when the breakfast was and the man at the front desk told us that it wasnt until 6am, but he could bring us his polish sausage and gravy on his "smoke break." I was appalled and then 5 minutes later he was at our door knocking with another man. This hotel was absolutely unprofessional and will NEVER stay here or any econolodge again!!!! It was dirty inside. There were only 2 towels for the whole weekend, and when we asked for more, they told us there were no towels clean right now?!!!! Are you kidding me?! So unacceptable and VERY disappointed! DO NOT STAY HERE! Pay an extra 50 dollars and stay elsewhere. Read more

I can't give 5 ratings because you can't expect that extra quality for the reasonable price. A little odd in that outside elevator is also for the parking ramp the rooms sit on top of and I suppose could be accessed by someone with bad intentions, but staff inside can see who uses it. We saw nobody problematic on premises. About 5 long blocks south […] on 3rd St to BB King's etc. on Beale so it is walkable. Trolley stop on Main is 2 blocks west goes south to Orpheum Theatre at Beale and Pearl's Oyster House--runs till 11:30. Rendezvous BBQ with fantastic dry rub ribs only 3 blocks. If you are just there to sleep and clean up and save some bucks for no frills, then this place fills that bill very well. Room was clean. Bed a little old but firm and a clean blanket pad on mattress under the sheet. Gave me extra pillows at the desk. Older large tube TV and adequate stations-not HD. Continental breakfast is only 6-9 am but is ok-incl gravy and bisq. Didn't try BBQ/sandwich place or lounge right across parking entrance, but looked fine. Blues people who are not greatly fussy: spend what you save on hotel on food, drinks and fun in Beale area esp for the IBC at end of Jan. Check Memphis Review free newspaper for venue lineups. Check weather--it can get pretty chilly and windy in winter there. Wish I had seen a review like this for the place--helps in deciding whether to try the place. Read more

For the price the hotel is a bargain since it is an easy, short walk to Beale Street and the Mississippi River Walk. However the room could have been a little cleaner. Beds were satisfactory though and the staff showed concern for our satisfaction. Parking is an additional $10.00/day but this is in downtown Memphis so it is very reasonable.

We enjoyed our stay. This is one of the least costly hotels in downtown Memphis so do not expect a high dollar room when you are only paying 1/3 of the price per night.
