I've traveled a lot in the past few months to NY for business and BW Bowery is the best deal for the cost/cleanliness/location. You'd be hard pressed to find a better hotel in downtown for a better deal. Sure there are much nicer places to stay, but they'll cost you hundreds more. For an economical stay in NY without wanting to skimp on the comfort […] and safety, BW is your best bet. Also for NY first timers, the location is great because there is so much right outside the door. And the front desk staff are so friendly and helpful, in my experience even more so than snooty hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Affordable, basic, well-located hotel"
Hotel is well-located in China Town, particularly good for the Tenement Museum. The area is a little run-down, but I think that's to be expected for the price. Rooms are expensive in New York, so with that in mind, it's good value, relatively speaking. Shower was good and the bed was comfortable. The room was a bit small. We stayed in a Queen suite. […] Breakfast had good selection - waffles, bread, pastries, cereal. Juice and coffee are nothing special. Staff are friendly and helpful. We were able to check into our room early and store our luggage there during the day after check-out. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ideal location for business and family holiday"
Good. Pleasant helpful staff. Jaime stands out in this regard. Very hospitable. Breakfast menu a little too monotonous. Could too with some variety on a daily basis.Genuine Expedia guest review
"busy area"
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location for the subways I needed was great. Both chinese and Italian food only steps away. I do wish they would give you more than 2 bath towels and 2 washcloths. No hand towels. Free breakfast was very impressive. The only really negative thing I can say is the in room coffee is horrible. They even were […] kind enough to replace the coffeemaker, but that wasn't the problem. It was the coffee. It was so weak even when I used on 3/4 cup of water. "Nice, Clean, Convenient"
The hotel is in a very convenient location, just one block from the B/D subway. The female staff was extremely helpful and welcoming (the male staff less so, but courteous enough). The room was small (but larger than other NYC hotels we've stayed at) and meticulously clean. There were small hiccups with the tv programming, the AC unit was loud, and […] the small closet mostly taken up by the safe and extra pillows, but nothing felt too aggravating. The computers in the lounge need upgrading, but for a quick email or address check they work; a huge plus for free prints! Some other reviewers complained of fish smell from the street. We didn't smell anything, but we were on the courtyard side. The breakfast was slightly disappointing. The food was okay (if you don't mind the limited selection) and the staff worked hard at replenishing everything. The size of the breakfast area is a joke, however, and you serve yourself on disposable plates and cutlery. Still, for a 3 star hotel the experience was very pleasant - especially the staff. Best stay in NYC for us so far; I'd definitely go again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good value in interesting neighborhood"
Staff was welcoming and helpful. Location was great for exploring Chinatown and Little Italy. We had some question about whether the bed sheets had been actually changed; front desk was responsive. Complimentary breakfast was OK--hot/cold cereals, waffle maker, little bit of fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs--dining area is dark and charmless. Fitness center […] consisted of treadmill and elliptical in very small space. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Couples or business travellers on a budget."
The hotel is in Chinatown. For a 1st time visitor to NY we did not know what that would entail. Horror and regret or pleasant? Well it was pleasant. It is a budget hotel but keep in mind NY is expensive. Especially travelling on a budget from a foreign currency. Room was small but decent and very liveable. Free wifi, excellent! Very clean, work desk, […] queen bed and bathhroom with shower only, no bathtub. Airconditioning was noisy but functional. No view from your window worth saying something about. But cozy, clean, safe and pleasant. When you go outside you are 2 blocks away from Little Italy, 2 blocks away from catching the downtown loop of the hop-on-hop-off open top bus services, walking distance from the river with the bridges and peer 17. We also walked to Wall Street from here and the 9/11 memorial. Also 2 blocks away from Canal Street where there is good, relatively cheap shopping. Time Square, Central Park, Empire State and the other uptown attractions you need to catch the open top bus for. Recommendation: buy the 2 day pass. Not only does it help you to explore the important attractions, but it also helps you with getting around NY. So thumbs up from us. Do not expect opulance or extreme luxury but also, it is not run-down or dissappointing. Only minor negative is the small and modest breakfast area. Getting breakfast was something we only attempted once. The rest of the time we went to place a few blocks away to grab breakfast. There simply is not enough room. "Location, Cleanliness and Modernized +Great Price"
NYC is a great city, but for a nice hotel you usually have to pay over $200 a night. Not at the best Western, the rooms were modernized, clean and comfortable. We spent most of our time touring and visiting family so we were only in the hotel to sleep. But we very much enjoyed our stay. Location was close to ground zero and 42nd street. NYC traffic […] is unavoidable, and inconvenient, but that's NYC. If loud noise and lot's of people bother you NYC is not the place for you. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and size for the price"
The Chinatown Best Western offers convenience for those who need to get around downtown, specifically Soho and Lower East Side, which is where I needed to be for work. Only gripe is the hotel charges $10 to hold your luggage after check-out, but the concierge was nice enough to knock it down to $5!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean room & nice staff!"
Not sure I would bring a large family here.. the hotel itself was nice, but we had a corner room with a window... if we didn't have a window, would think it would be very dark and not nearly as pleasant. Free breakfast was nice, the food was plentiful.. kind of a so/so neighborhoodGenuine Expedia guest review

"Chinatown"
If you like China this is the right place for you.. In the middle of the markets with all the signs in Chinese, even the Hotel.. I was on the 3rd floor, i couldnt sleep, the noise is 24/7, i felt like i was in the street.. They have 2 elevators but they use only one to preserve energy.. You can imagine 140 rooms, place fully booked with tourists..They […] advertise the room at 260 sf, i measure it, was 115.. If you leave the luggages is $5 a piece.. The breakfast consist in a basket of apple an bananas, coffe or tea and few uneatable pastries, can oj or apple juice.. Positives: the room was clean, the staff was polite and the subway was close.. Good luck! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overall a good experience"
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was okay and the beds were comfortable. The complimentary breakfast had the normal fare. Overall it was a good experience. We went as first time visitors to NYC. It was a way out from some of the sights, but we were able to experience China Town since the hotel is located between China Town […] and Little Italy. "Good hotel bang in the middle of Chinatown"
The hotel is located right in the middle of Chinatown. It might turn out to be uncomfortable to some people because there are fish sellers right next to the hotel, making the streets a bit stinky. For us, it wasn't a big issue. The hotel is very comfortable by itself, with quite decent sized rooms and bathrooms. Free wifi and complimentary breakfast […] made the deal even sweeter. No bedbugs to report of (I'm pretty paranoid about that). The security of the hotel was pretty nice with upper floors needing card access. We were two women travelling along and I must say that we didn't feel unsafe at any point of time, even at night when we had to swipe our cards to gain access. Chase and CapitalOne banks downstairs make banking even easier. The nearest subway station is just 400 feet away. Very accessible in Manhattan indeed! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Too Noisy"
I pick this hotel mainly for the free internet, free breakfast as not many hotels in New York provided these services, this hotels located in Chinatown and Little Italy, I find it's too noisy and hear the food vendors calling and talking clearly in my room, on top I don't really like the fishy smell! One day after the sightseeing, I noticed the maid […] didn't clean our room properly, he just put our trashes under the bed, that's so unprofessional, did mentioned it to the front desk. They have two subways entrance no too far from the hotel, but not too easy go to midtown as need to transfer to different trains to get to my destination. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lower Mannhattan Convenience!"
Had some trepidations going in, as the price seemed too good to be true. This hotel, however, really delivered. The immediate location in Chinatown is not for the traveler seeking easy access to Times Square and the like, but if you're cool with a bit of walking, there are great sites just blocks away. We had a 2 queen bedroom on the 6th floor facing […] Grand Street. Room is big for NYC standards, clean, well appointed and again, relatively quiet. There is always going to be construction & traffic noise in such a big fabulous city! Never once heard our neighbors within the hotel though. For us as leisure travelers would have preferred a dresser over the desk. But I just requested another luggage rack and worked out of my suitcase instead of unpacking. The toiletries are of fine quality, hairdryer and coffee pot fine as well. Elevators are fast, and were never jammed with other guests. The lobby breakfast is a nice touch. Good selection of breads, fruit, juice,, cereal, etc. They also have maps and brochures available. Overall a truly wonderful stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"historical location ,realistic life in the city"
my stay was one I will always remember and one which I would love repeat. 10 days was maybe slightly to long in one location because there are so many things to see and do ,although in saying that the location was very central and made getting to places very easy...Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The breakfast area is really small and not too much choices for breakfast. The employees were nice and helpful. The room was clean but the air conditioning was having a little problem. The first night I couldn't sleep well cause it shut down and turned on every twenty minutes with loud noise. Good location to Chinatown restaurants, little Italy and […] Soho. One block to the Metro. "Second stay at the hotel and more to come"
The staff were great! More than helpful. Complimetary breakfast was phenominal, I went and bought a waffle maker the next day! I love the level of security, needing a key card to go to different room levels in the hotel. The gym was a bit disappointing, very small and lacked machines/equipment. Overall though, it was a good stay and the gym is a luxury […] given that not many people utilize it, i see why it is as small as it is. Will definitely stay again. I have stayed once before and wasn't dissapointed then so I assume it will continue to be that way, if anything, there is more room for growth than disappointment.
