For 2 of my 3 nights, I received the ice within 10 minutes. The third night, it took 90 minutes and 3 phone calls to get it! But everything else was great!

I loved this hotel. It is in a great location, convenient to everything. Boutique style hotel with many amenities- very cool patio and swimming pool on the rooftop, lovely lounge/library with fireplace also on the fourth floor, adequate, but small, fitness facility The staff was warm and welcoming. Unbelievably comfortable beds and linens, windows blocked all street noise-- it was hard to force myself out of bed in the morning. Could walk to any neighborhood from this neighborhood-- in fact, we found the entire city to be very walkable. Didn't take our car out of the garage once. Highly recommend that you try this hotel.

The hotel is small and relatively hard to find. It's collocated in a condo building right across from the Westin Grand. The rooms are beautifully appointed and quiet, especially the one facing the courtyard. Their library and the hotel terrace on the 5th floor are wonderful. Parking is overpriced, and it's on par with the Westin Grand across the alley. The hotel does not offer a more affordable self-park option, although the parking garage they use for their valet would accommodate this. If you don't want to spend $26 and don't need in and out privileges, simply drive to the back of the building and self park. The staff won't tell you to do this.

We arrived at the hotel in late afternoon after a full day of travel. We were informed at check in that the hotel had upgraded our room. It was a lovely large room with a comfy king size bed, fireplace, flat screen TV, The bathroom featured a glass shower, a soaking tub and a separate water closet. Everything was immaculate. The hotel staff greeted us by name each time we exited and entered the hotel. They called ahead for us for last minute dinner reservations and on both occasions we were immediately seated. The only suggestion is the satelite TV was a little tempermental and we had to call the desk to get instructions. They immediately sent a staff member up to instruct us on how to operate it. We made sure to get a business card and have already recommended this hotel to friends. We stayed at this hotel prior to embarking on a cruise and found the location very handy to everything we wished to do.

Fantastic, very new hotel. Since the building also has permanent residences and only a couple of floors for the hotel, it seems like there weren't too many hotel guests, so it was nice and quiet. The staff was helpful and friendly. It's located within walking distance to many cafes/restaurants and touristy places, including the Vancouver Art Gallery, BC Place, Gaslight District. We stayed in a studio room with a small patio. It was a little tight, but very comfortable, modern and beautiful. You could tell it was all very new. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The pillows were heavenly. The room had a very spacious bathroom with a separate room for the toilet and separate bathtub and glass shower. Maid service came by twice -- once to clean and once for turndown service and even left pillow spray and lip balm for us and turned on the radio (which had an iPod docking station). My only complaint about the room is that the air conditioner was very loud and made it a little hard to sleep. The continental breakfast was pricey -- $18 per person -- so we skipped out on it.

We were in a corner so there were full length windows all around with lots of light. The fixtures in the bathroom and kitchen were all very high end. I appreciated a big walk in closet with a large safe for my luggage, etc. This is not a full service hotel--don't expect room service or a restaurant. We didn't really need that because there is a nice grocery store right below and also lots of restaurants nearby. If you want a well-located, large space with upscale amenities this is a great option.

Once we checked in we were told there was valet parking underground but we had already paid to park. Room decor was very nice. Staff was very stuffy. No ice machines. You need to call desk and ask. Attendant walked into our room with ice and proceeded to show us every detail about the room...how to use fireplace, how to turn on television, he also told us we could bring in food if we wanted. We stayed at L'Hermitage during the recent 2009 Vancouver International Jazz Festival. L'Hermitage, a well-appointed, boutique hotel in downtown Vancouver, was perfectly located for exploring the city; it was walking distance to many of the entertainment venues, and a short drive to Granville Island. Parking is available, a plus in Vancouver, for a fee. There is no restaurant on site, but the hotel offers breakfast, although we found it a bit pricey for the what's on offer. There are a couple of very nice spaces, where you can meet friends, and there are computers available to hotel guests. The hotels.com price was outstanding, allowing us to enjoy a very nice queen suite at less than a quarter of the price offered on the hotel's website, local tourism promotion sites and other online sites.

We were given the choice of a room on the pool side or the city side. After reading a previous comment from a guest, we chose the pool side and were very happy with the location. Our room was an upgrade and included a patio that was surrounded with plants. After a long day of exploring the city, it was a very peaceful setting to return to. We were about 4 1/2 blocks from Gastown and right around the block from the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus tour. The grocery store down the street came in very handy. L'Hermitage is a lovely boutique hotel located smack dab in the middle of downtown Vancouver just off the high end shopping stretch of Robson Street. The property is actually half hotel and half residences, so there are relatively few guests for the very attentive staff to attend to. Plus, since the property actually IS home to the residents, the amenities are really high quality. The lap pool is heated and very nicely maintained; it's located outside on a very peaceful patio just off the a very spacious two story lounge where the hotel serves an admittedly overpriced continential breakfast every morning but free coffee and tea through the remainder of the day. It also has a small library with free computer access. The property is still kind of new, so there were a few minor glitches--for example, they had some difficulty encoding my room key when I arrived. The porter was more than happy to run down and get another for me, though, so it wasn't really a big deal. Overall, and given the really meager price I paid for the room, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat. Oh, and the bathrooms are gorgeous. GOR-GEE-OUS.
