"Great hotel and location"
Wonderful hotel experience. Suggest bringing your own food though as the dining center is VERY expensive.....Genuine Expedia guest review
"A very pleasant surprise."
We stayed for one night in May to visit the ice fields. Not a lot of visitors at this time of year. The room was large and very comfortable and the location was excellent. Good hiking close by and the drive to and from the hotel has exceptional views.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in"
The Glacier View Inn is a beautiful hotel. It is right across from the Athabasca Glacier. We had a lovely stay. The view from our room was phenomenal. We visited the middle of October. It was a stopover between Banff and Jasper National Parks. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Glacier View Inn,Icefields Parkway Alberta Canada"
Rooms very large including 1 queen, 1 pull out queen sofa bed, and 2 twin beds in an upper spacious loft. All rooms are non smoking and extremely clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Daniel at the checkin desk provided excellent advice and was very knowledgeable about the area. Dining room service was great by Alam and Demis. I was suffering […] from the beginnings of a cold and the 2 waiters voluntarily brought me hot water with honey and lemon slices at every meal. This is a great location at a reasonable price when you book through organizations such as hotels.com. It is perfect for a relaxed time to view and take the excursion to the Athabaska Glacier at the Columbia Icefields. Driving to Jasper and back to here is easily done in 1 day with lots of time to take side trips to other points of interest. I would recommend a minimum of 2 nights stay to allow time to see the Glacier and drive to Jasper and back. "Beautiful scenery! Internet and steady hot water please!"
Great location right across the highway from Columbia icefields in Jasper National Park--that's why we chose it. There are no other hotels or services nearby. This is the only option. So you take what you get. There is no wireless or internet (so can't upload or email those beautiful pics!), the hot water and water pressure is unreliable, the faucets […] in the sink only stay on for 5 seconds, the food in both the restaurant and cafeteria is overpriced, the hallways feel more like a train or bus station than a hotel, the hotel front desk is hidden in a corner so that you think you are second rate compared to the tourists who are buying tickets to take the tractor-tread equipped buses that traverse the glacier. But if location counts, this is it! Go for it! You wake up to breakfast in the overpriced restaurant--but you can't beat the view over the icefields! Where else can you wake up to a view of a glacier! Location, location, location! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here in July--had a hard time finding it, due to no signs. Love the location and hotel!! Please put more explicit instructions for its location on the website! ThanksGenuine Expedia guest review
"Glacier View Inn"
The hotel is on the 3rd floor of the Icefield Center. It does not have a separate building. (it took me some time to find it). My room is facing the Athabasca Icefield, which I can see every morning when I woke up! The price is very good for what I got - a deluxe room that has a loft inside the room with a total of 3 beds. The room is very clean and […] comfortable. The bathroom is one of my favorites during my trip. It's about 1 hour to either Jasper Town or Lake Louise Village. It opens only thru May to Oct, due to extreme temperature condition during winter time in the park. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is the only hotel in this area, and is well maintained, howere considering the beauty of the a rea, there was only one rather small window in the room looking out onto the beautiful landscape, there should have been a large picture window in the room, or sliding doors onto a balcony.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Glacier View Hotel on top of the Icefields Centre"
It was very convenient to be able to stay over and then take the early tour the next morning. The woman at the desk for the hotel was unhelpful and surly. It is the only place to stay or eat so you are at their mercy. Prices for food were especially high--$10 for a single egg! Needless to say we skipped breakfast in the morning. Convenient yes but bring […] your own food. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Layover Spot"
This is a great spot to layover when traveling between Jasper and Banaff. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. Staff is friendly and very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Amazing location right across from glaciers and the Columbia Icefield. We booked a package including the icefield adventure and forefield walking tour. We had the mountain view which basically means you are on the backside of the inn with no view so if you want to sit in your room and take in the views choose the glacier view. The location is remote […] so unfortunately there is no wifi available. Our room had a loft with two twin beds but we only used the downstairs area. The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice restroom. The on-site restaurant was expensive but good; the cafeteria doesn't measure up. Would have given 5 stars if the desk staff had not turned us away when we came too early to check in without offering to store our bags - we hauled them all the way back to the car (it was a long way). The icefield adventure and forefield walking tour are not to be missed - both are amazing and fun. Make sure to park near the busses - there is no signage and the walk the other direction is up a lot of stairs - we did it with our bags up and down and up again. No Internet - no good!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Glacierview Inn is located in the same building as the Canadian Park Service and interpredation center as well as the glacier bus tours. All of the bus crowds are gone by 5pm and your evenings are beautiful and peaceful. The water in your room comes directly from the glacier, so fill your water bottles before you go hiking or touring. Considering the […] fact that this facility is located on top of a mountain pass and must provide for all utilities, I was very impressed. If you have the time, see the engineering behind the facility. The best hike is the Wilcox Pass Trail and it is fairly easy. You only need to hike the first third to see the spectacular views. "Glacier View Inn - Columbia Icefields"
This hotel is on the top floor of the Icefield Centre overlooking the Columbia Icefields. Be sure you know where you are going because there is NO signage on the highway indicating there is a hotel here. The parking lots have no lighting either. After spending 20 minutes exploring all roads in the area, we went to the Centre and figured out the hotel […] was in there. Our room was quite large with a terrific view of the Icefields. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the dining room was fine. The advantage of staying at the Glacier View Inn is that you can catch the first bus up for the Icefield Explorer Tour and beat the crowds. It is not unusual for them to have 3000-5000 people take the Icefield tour each day. When you plan your trip, realize you are an hour and a half from Banff as well as Jasper and there is nothing else close by. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Convieniently located, half way from Banff to Jasper. Hotel facilities adequate, but fusion with Glacier Express services gives the feeling of staying in an skilift facility. Restaurant expensive in regards to the quality.Genuine Expedia guest review

Great room. Room was not cleaned after our first night. Best place to get to see the glacier. Do not expect much after the crowds leave a 6:30 pm. Everything closes down except restaurant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Glacier View Inn located at the toe of the Athabasca Glacier is an absolute "must" if you are in Jasper National Park. The views are fabulous and the Glacier Tour is well worth the time and money. We're going back and taking the grandkids!Genuine Expedia guest review

"glacier view inn, gorgeous retreat"
The hotel was in a gorgeous location, only downside being it was far from jasper. It didn't have a pool or wifi, but if you complain that there was no wifi for your precious phone in the middle of the rockies then I really don't think that the mountains or nature at all are for you. Would have been nice to have a mini fridge, but the room and view was […] awesome. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK for one night stay only."
No directions to indicate where the hotel is located was found when we approached the Icefield Cenre. It would be helpful if it stated that the hotel was on the top floor of Icefield Centre. Great stay, tough to find at night due to location restrictions on night time signage and light. But the staff loaned me a flashlight to help unpack the car. Great stay, nice hotel, especially nice view during breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Staff was friendly, room was clean and very big. The food in the restaurant was excellent and very good service there as well. We were there in May, too early to do any sightseeing, but will probably return for a night in the summer when we can tour the glacier and the new skywalk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Awesome staff, location and hotel!"
A great place to stay...the staff were really awesome helping us to park our car in the correct place while helping us with our kids and luggage. Really friendly and incredibly helpful. Room was clean, lots of space for the five of us and cosy warm with a great view of the glacier. Breakfast was a little overpriced, but it was very tasty and all clean […] plates from the three kids - which says a lot! Will stay again for sure. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs better signage"
This is a nice hotel, right across the road from the Athabasca glacier, however, it needs signage to indicate that the hotel is, in fact, inside the same facility as the Columbia icefields centre. We drove past it for 20 min. and then had to backtrack. Apparently there is a small sign in front but it was completely covered in snow (April 22, 2014).Genuine Expedia guest review
"They get you with insanely high priced food."
You're an hour and fifteen minutes for anything, so you're stuck paying $28 for a grilled chicken sandwich that would cost you $10 anywhere else. There is wifi at the hotel, but it's not available to guests. No cell phone service. The volume on half the TV channels didn't work. If you don't want to pay insane prices for food, bring your own. Don't […] expect wifi or cell service. Rooms are nice, and clean, but if you're looking for entertainment/dining when the day time activities end, you're better off staying in downtown Jasper and driving to the icefields. "Its all about the location"
Travelled off peak so this was fairly cheap for a large family room spread over 2 stories (dbl downstairs, 2 single up). Drove past it once as their is just a small banner and we hadn't realised it was inside the centre. We also parked in the main car park so had to walk up lots of slippery steps struggling with suitcases (I think you can park in the […] disabled entrance for the hotel). Found the hotel entrance very difficult to locate (walked round the entire building). Staff were chatting when we approached and took a minute to acknowledge us, it felt like they were winding down for the season end so not really bothered about guests but they did tell us about the restaurant, morning staff were much more attentive. Room was lovely and would be very nice for a family or a group of 3 or 4 to stay, there was some rubbish left from the previous guests though. Being across from the glacier is amazing, even if you have a mountain view - we took loads of photos the following morning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"some good, some just ok"
Overall a good experience but they seem to have a problem with hot water. I spent 20 minutes fooling with the shower to get actual hot water to come out, then it'll turn completely off for 5 seconds before turning back on and scalding you. The tap for the bathroom sink was similar in that it took 10 minutes of running it before the water turned hot. […] The only other issue I had was with the room temperature, as it was extremely hot without opening the window a crack at night. I knew going into it that the hotel would not have wifi, but it'd still be nice to have instead of paying for 8 minutes on their computer. The restaurant prices were similar to every other place in Banff or Jasper, but it was good food to say the least. All that being said the views are fantastic and you're not going to climb one of the surrounding mountains with better comfort than you will staying here, so I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you want to get away from work and fall off the map for a few days. I'll be back next year Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Location is what defines this hotel"
There were no signs up for this place but I knew it was on the top if the Columbia visitor centre. I was expecting far worse given some of the reviews! The food was fine and not as expensive/bad as I was expecting. The room was clean but had a terrible constant creaking noise which I think was the roof but it seemed much louder at night and as a result […] neither if us could sleep and were awake for most of the night. To be in the middle of nowhere with a beautiful view is amazing. But where there is not one person to be seen around you and a wind howling it is a bit creepy. "Right at the edge of the icefield"
Hotel is located inside the icefield tourist visitor center building. The new signs ( heard it was just put up ) make it easy to get to the "lobby". The lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was excellent -- we didn't have any coffee cups but ran into a couple of hotel staff and they gave us some immediately. Food is […] an issue if you do not like to pay the somewhat expected high prices at the cafe or restaurant ( 20~50% higher ) as they is nothing else around ! Liked staying here as you are all "alone" ( plus other hotel guest ) after the icefield visitor center closes and you have the whole place to yourself. Yo can hike to the icefield early in the morning if you wanted to before anyone arrives. Didn't get to do that as the weather was bad when I was there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Incredibly expensive stay!"
I booked this room as it was a very good price and we wanted to visit JASPER and could NOT afford to stay in town. Once we arrived we were very happy with our room but were SHOCKED at how far it actually was from the town of Jasper and because of the distance we were stuck eating at the hotel's restaurant which was VERY VERY EXPENSIVE. The service was […] excellent but we will not be staying at the hotel again as it ended up costing us as much as if we had stayed in the town of Jasper with the amount we spent on food at the restaurant and cafeteria. Having said that, my children got to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the glacier (glacier tour) which was fantastic. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in the middle of no where."
This was a nice hotel and had amazing views. The only significant Downside of this hotel is the fact that the restaurant is terrible. For $20 you can get a hamburger that seems to of been microwaved or purchased at Costco or Walmart and serve to you on a bun. You don't have a choice but to eat at this restaurant because there's nothing in any direction […] of the hotel with an hundred kilometers else really don't eat out. Looking over Athabasca Glacier was fantastic but being miles from anywhere guests are a captive audience. There is only one restaurant for dinner, which is not owned by the hotel, the food was average but it was the only one around. Hotel staff were friendly but services were limited. During the night the water supply pipes froze and although we asked […] for a late check out, the water had still not returned to the room by the time we left, the maintenance staff were busy with the problem all morning. The room was large, comfortable and clean. Internet is only available on hotel computers. This hotel is all about the location, being at the glacier before the hordes from the bus tours turn up.
