The hotel's location was perfect; and there was so much charm to this property! Our rooms were very comfortable and clean with views of either the soccer field or the old town. Restaurants, shops and other services were nearby. The hotel has a restaurant as well. The hotel offered free parking just a few yards down the street but spaces were limited. […] A nice, breakfast buffet was included. I did not see elevator service so, if this is a problem, ask for a lower level room. The front desk personnel were helpful but spoke little English (and we spoke little Italian). That makes it totally unsuitable for elderly, people with heart problem and disabled. From the ground floor to our room on the second floor one has to climb 45+ steps. Siena isn't that big, so any hotel near the old city is really fine in terms of location. We just did a quick one-day sidetrip from Florence, so the convenience of this hotel to the main bus terminal was great. Room was more than adequate.

I will stay there again. Staff, particlarly Barbara, were very friendly. Stayed in room 7 and peeked into room 8. Both are nice, spacious and well-maintained. Within walking distance of the city's major attractions. Experienced first earthquake I have ever experienced in Europe while staying there (epicenter 150 km north in Tuscany). Staff didn't know […] why the building shook slightly and confirmed my belief that it was an earthquake, not a large truck driving by (I live in California and know the feeling of earthquakes) the next day. Back side rooms overlook AS Sienna football stadium which is accessible for reasonalble rates of safe paid multi-day car parking (1.70 Euro per hour 7 am-8 pm, free from 8 pm-7am). If arrving by car, you can park briefly in the traffic lane on the opposite side of the street from the hotel while unloading your luggage- recommended if you have more than a single small suitcase to avoid lugging your suitcase up the stairs from parking in the stadium- "'Parcheggio 'Stadio"' which are about close to the hotel as you get on the corner as you turn from Via di Mille onto Via Curtatone). I must say that we expected a bit more out of our stay here after reading all the positive reviews for this hotel. Our room was tiny, which is to be expected here in Europe, but it was also dirty. It looked as if the room had not been used in some time as there was a thick layer of dust on most of the surfaces. Also, the thermostat could not be adjusted […] and the room was on the side. The toilet water tank in the bathroom did not have a lid so flushing the toilet and the subsequent filling of the tank was extremely loud, especially at night, often times waking up the other room occupants. Finally, the bed was terrible! We have lived in Europe for four years, have traveled around significantly and are used to the firm mattresses but this bed was something else. We woke up every morning with terrible back pain which obviously reduced our fun during the day. The service was not bad as the staff was helpful and very nice although the housekeeping did forget to give us any towels the last day we were there. The breakfast, although described by many as excellent, was very basic and minimal at best. Again, having stayed at many hotels in Europe this breakfast was not one of the better ones. It simply consisted of three kinds of croissants, two types of bread, ham, salami, cheese (one kind each), cold boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, and some old beat up fruit. Most comfortable bed during our 2 week Italy trip. Good size room but bathroom a little on the small size. Best breakfast buffet 20 minute walk to train station if you find the underground route taking you there. Close walking distance to sites. Staff very pleasant. Very convenient when arriving or departing by bus, which is the easiest way to travel to Siena from Florence. But also easy walking distance to the city center. Pleasant breakfast room with lots of windows. It was warm, even in mid-October, and the management turned on the room air conditioning, which some hotels would not do.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights when visiting Siena. We chose it for its proximity to Gramsci Station - where the bus comes from the train station below the old city. It was literally a 3 minute easy walk with our luggage. It was also an easy walk into the old city. The hotel is very attractive. Close to Plaza Gramsci if you are taking a bus to get to Siena. Clean hotel, but the rooms are a bit small and basic, the breakfast also is satisfactory but not overwhelming. For a "3-Star" hotel in Europe I found this to be what I expected. It's a good hotel, I'm just surprised that the average review is well over a 4.

This hotel has a very nice location for a new visitor to Siena. We arrived by bus, and the hotel was 2 blocks from the central bus stop, and Siena's sights are a short 15 minute walk away. The room was clean and comfortable, especially for the price. Our only complaint is that there was a party going in the restaurant below the hotel until after midnight, and the sound travelled through the floor to our room. Luckily, we don't typically go to bed until midnight, so the noise wasn't a terrible imposition, but was annoying nonetheless.

The hotel has an excellent location to walk around Siena. We were able to walk everywhere in the city. The breakfast was good and the attached restaurant was quite good for dinner. Some of the rooms are a bit small for two people and we ended up paying for an upgrade for 3 out of 4 days that we stayed there. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Everything was great (breakfast, location, staff, and rooms) BUT...the hallway is extremely loud, especially when a bunch of drunk women wearing high heels stumble into their room at 3:45 a.m. Other than that one gripe...you will want to stay here. The rooms were simple, clean, and a good value for the price. The location is too good to be true, right […] across the street from the bus station, about a 20 minute walk to/from the train station, and literally one block from city center. It backs up to a football stadium, so go for a back room and then you have a nice view of the greens. We have heard that the front rooms are noisy due to traffic. Oh, there is also a mini fridge in the rooms--nice bonus! You can buy wifi cards at the front desk: 1 hour--2 euro or 3 hour--3 euro. If you want good recommendations for local restaurants, ask the front desk staff...they were so helpful and gave us excellent suggestions of local cuisine (we were the only tourists at these spots). The Hotel Chiusarelli is very conveniently located if you are arriving in Siena by bus (and you should). It is about a block away from the main bus area where you can purchase tickets for departure by bus, too. It is an easy walk to Il Campo and other attractions. The lobby was attractive and included a library that had been left by former guests where we were able to borrow a guide book. The breakfast room was very pretty - a lovely place to start the day. The hotel staff was not as outgoing/friendly as those in other hotels where we stayed. When we returned from dinner, no one was at the desk and we, and another couple, were left standing there, until he eventually returned to give us our room key. He offered no suggestions for enjoying our stay in Siena, but did allow us to leave our luggage at the hotel after we checked out. Bottom line - we would love to return to Siena, our favorite city in Italy so far, and we might stay at Hotel Chiusarelli because of its location and affordability. Read more

Drop your bags off, park and you can be on Piazza del Campo in 10-15 minutes. We had a room on the second floor - clean, basic amenities included. I was looking for a place that was close to all the sights, and the hotel was great for the price. Overall, the hotel met my expectations. Didn't expect much for the price, but was not disappointed. Now, for some negatives. The hotel is 200 feet from a church - the bells go off at 7 am (did not bother me and my wife slept through them). No free WiFi or breakfast (but two lattes and croissants will set you back less than 5 euros at a variety of coffee shops nearby). Internet cost 2€ per hour per device. If you are looking for good value, this is a good place to stay in Siena. There may be other better ones for the price in season, but we found many hotels were closed for the winter.
