Anton Inn - Pacific Grove

When we arrived the young man at the desk gave us a key and told us where the room was, then returned to his computer. I saw wine and cheese etc on a table, but no mention was made to us about it. We went to the room to find it ice cold. The fireplace-heater would not work. Called (phone was dead), walked back to office and wife returned with receptionist. […] Wife had wine and cheese. She asked for it. It was not offered. Boy showed us that the heater remote had to be pressed 3 times then heat came on. Could have told us that when we checked in. Room was cold for a very long time. Floors were tile and very cold to walk on even when the room was finally warm. Could see half-inch daylight around the door. Draft cold.. Balcony door had mold on it. The lock dropped onto the floor, broken. The breakfast was not at all appealing. We had to go out for breakfast. The next day, the same items were on the table, obviously left over from the day before. We could not eat that, so eating out added $60 to my expenses. This place was not in good repair. After reading the negative reviews I was concerned. But the room was very clean and newly remodeled. The radiant heat floor in the bathroom was awesome. But the frieplace was fake and I could not figure out how to up the room temperature. I would stay there again.

The room floor plan is more reminiscent of a studio apartment than a traditional hotel room. However it was well appointed and comfy. It was more than adequate for a couple of nights. From the outside it looks more like an assortment of bungalows than an inn, but it is a good value. The breakfast was forgettable though.

The room was large and clean. Peaceful area, we had deer visit us in the morning. They allowed me to use their kitchen to bake some sweets. Nice patio where we could sit and relax in the afternoon and enjoy the complimentary wine and snacks.

I was sruprised to learn that the hotel had an open shower and sink area. This was not obvious from the description of the room. The room was comfortable and bedding was perfect. Hooking up the dvd player was a challenge. Continental Breakfast was good. The inn was quiet, comfortable, and clean. My one year old slept comfortably without any noise interruption. I would definitely stay again. Be prepared that this inn is not down the street or walking distance of cannery row or […] aquarium as it is advertised. You will need to drive to get there. This place is closer to the frontage road that wraps around the beach drive near lovers points. The hotel counter person was polite, but not anything else. The hotel is close to the cannery area -- very nice. The staff was very good. The only problem is the hotel room and grounds are dirty. The grass around the hotel rooms was dead.... There was no screen on a window in our room. The hotel needs more maintenance than is is currently getting....

We booked this place for the Big Sur half marathon in November. It was one of the more inexpensive places in Pacific Grove that weekend and we wanted to be close to the course. For the price this motel is not bad considering the whole area. Most places were asking a lot more. However, it does come with what you pay for. The parking is not the greatest […] and I'm glad I wasn't driviing a large SUV. There was no light in the parking area which was a pain trying to unload and load the car at night. The room was nice but the tile floors were not in November. The room could use a TV upgrade and a little fridge like most normal hotel rooms these days. Breakfast in the moring was great. The staff was friendly and the area felt safe. Although it was a little bit away from any attraction (1/2 mile from the ocean). Would I say there again? Yes. However, I would also take some time to look for another place that is better. It was not a bad place and the room was nice, but it was just missing the little things and that makes me want to look for something else if I ever find myself in Pacific Grove again. Pacific Grove has its share of small little motels, each with a little different style. This is a place that has been updated with a contemporary feel. Comfortable and clean. No view, but if you want a cozy little place for a couple days, this might be the place for you.

There were 3 people in my party and instead of the room with 2 queen beds that I reserved, I got 1 bed and a sofa which was too short to sleep on. So we opened up the door to our room, expecting just that: a room. But unbeknownst to us we had gotten a suite! And it was very nice. Tile floors throughout, flat screen tv in the bedroom, second back door entrance, awesome. The only weird thing was there was no rod in the toilet paper holder. But other than that it was fantastic.

The Anton is a wonderful little gem located off the beaten path in Pacific Grove. The beds were comfortable the rooms well appointed (with heated floor in the bathroom) and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Upon checking in you will be given real keys and the "address" of your room, such as "Jewel Ave", rather than a number. We stayed at the Anton Inn for the New Year's Weekend. It has a wonderful quiet location. Instead of hearing cars on a freeway, we heard birds in the trees. There were a couple of minor disappointments: The room had no heat source, only a small electric heater plugged into the wall and it was a cold weekend; and the fireplace is electric with a picture […] of flames but no heat. I loved this hotel, with just one little caveat. The first night I spent there, the room was cold, and I couldn't find any heater. The hotel staff brought me a space heater which heated up the room just fine. The second night, the space heater was gone. I got in late (around 10), and there was noone at the front desk to bring a heater. I called, left […] a message, but got no heater. The room was icy cold, and I had to stay under covers--wasn't really able to enjoy the spacious room that night or in the morning, because it was too cold. This is the second stay for me at Anton Inn. Both times, as a single person from the Sacramento area, I decided to get out of town and beat a heat wave by driving to Pacific Grove. I like the Anton Inn because there are only ten rooms, the staff knows who is there, and they try to please me. My room was large and quiet. I could park very close to my […] hotel room. It is all one story. There was a large, round picnic table outside my room where one could eat, have a drink, or read. It is about 2-3 blocks from the ocean shore and is easily walkable. I love going down at sunset with all the others in the area to watch the spectacular sunsets over the ocean. I can drive or hike to Asilomar State Park and beach. Wildlife is abundant. The town is close.(I go to mass at St. Angela's on Lighthouse every morning while I visit.) Trader Joe's is not far away in a small shopping center where everything is available at reasonable cost for a lunch, a snack, or a salad. Even Asilomar has a small grocery store. Both times, I have put in a bid on HotWire and been given a generous discount on my room rate at Anton when the mystery hotel was revealed. Good location. Nothing fancy or elaborate.
