"Average hotel, friendly service with a smile"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Feb 26, 2013
My impression of L'Atelier was average. In Europe things generally tend to be smaller compared to the United States however the corner room we stayed in was a bit cramped & the walls were thin. The double bed took over the space of the room & we could hear the metro in the distance. If one was traveling with large suitcases or happened to be larger or taller than the average person I think they would feel very uncomfortable. Apart from sheer size, the room & hotel were clean and the employees were very helpful and approachable. There was no coffee pot in the room however the receptionist gladly prepared a tray with coffee/tea & little cakes. The hotel is conveniently located near the metro & there are appealing places to eat in the vicinity.

Worth the money - Excellent, would go again.Clean and the staff all spoke good English. Good location: Metro Tube station near, Loads of places to eat and next to canal - which was very nice for jogging and evening walks.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean, modern hotel"
Bright, clean, modern hotel. Rooms aren't huge, but perfectly fine by Paris standards. Good breakfast buffet of mostly cold food, with some scrambled eggs and sausages appearing after 7 / 7:30. Friendly staff. Great value for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Watch out !!!!"
Be careful when leaving anything in the room the cleaning staff are unreliable , my sons sweets and reading book got stolen also my friends mobile phone got stolen . The breakfast is boring you have the same thing every day ( scramble eggs !!! You could do more with eggs !) But the hotel is near the metro and the view from your room is nice .Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good value but some improvements could be made"
We were happy to arrive and find that one of the Paris Plage locations was right in front of our hotel. Having breakfast included was a bonus, but the croissants were not of the highest quality. The cappucino maker and others choices were good though. Due to my Priority Club membership, we got upgraded to a premium canal view room but the mattress was […] lumpy and we had to twice request a replacement mattress, which we did end up getting and it was better. There could have been more room to unpack luggage, and a safe and small in-room fridge would have been nice. Finally the hotel was only a few blocks from the Riquet Metro Station but it seemed that everywhere we wanted to go was not on that line. We always had to transfer through Stalingrad station which was a hassle as the walk in the Stalingrad metro station to the other lines was LONG and would be difficult for people who were mobility challenged. Also, the hotel did not offer free wifi - only a computer station that you had to pay for (computer did not allow pdf files to be printed for some reason). Overall though I think we got good value for our buck but hopefully the hotel staff will read this and make some additions to make their hotel even better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great place in a great location!"
The reason it gets 4 stars is the fact that we asked for a double room and got a twin room! So,you may want to check it with the hotel before you arrive (after you booked via this website) to make sure you get what you pay for.Or they will tell you "We do not have any double rooms for tonight" and you will find yourself in an unending debate which will […] go nowhere. The rest is just great! Room service is perfect! The room is perfectly clean! Location is just perfect! (when you come off the train in Riquet, take the exit on the left,it will lead you a street, take right and walk down to the end of the street. You CAN NOT miss it). Breakfast includes, pork&chicken ham and sausages, one kind of cheese, terrible juices, croissants, toast, cereals, hot drinks, yoghurt etc. Nothing spectacular and gets pretty boring after 2-3 days. There are pubs (bars) etc around the place, which is more reasonable than the central ones in terms of price. However, if you want the best deal, there is a bar called Belushi's. Food and drinks are nice and happy hour prices are a treat. It also has free wireless inside and it has a small but nice outdoor tables by the canal. Hotel will charge you for the internet. Bar is in the same building with the hotel.Just go out of the hotel entrance. take a right and right again, you will find it. There are noise, yes! but it happens only at the weekends! (Friday & Sat nights). Other days you will probably have less noise. It is Paris, it will never be quiet! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good stay"
The hotel was very nice and clean. There are no clocks in the room so remember to adjust your time to ensure you are in the right time zone. The hotel does not offer free wireless Internet but you can pay for the service. Overall the rooms were very comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"View of the Canal"
When I made the booking, I requested an upper floor with a view of the canal. Upon check-in we were given a 3rd floor room with a great view of the canal and a church next door; the church bell chimes were very nice and added to the atmosphere without being disturbing. The room was a comfortable size, very clean and well maintained. Hotel amenities […] include a lovely breakfast buffet as well as a hard wired network connection for 30 mins in a 24 hour period. The need to use a patch cable to access the internet is not particularly useful with a smartphone or tablet; wi-fi would be much more useful. Also, 30 minutes is not much when you are planning your travels for the next day; additional time can be purchased. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the Metro, which can get you anywhere in the city. However, one must take a train and 2 metros to travel between the airport to the hotel; allow about an hour for this trip. Also, if you have a lot of luggage it will be a challenge to manage the 2 metro stations (stairs, turnstiles and crowds) where you have to transfer between trains. "No wifi!!"
Overall, the hotel was okay. Staff were very good, although some lack of communication between them regarding reprogramming of keys for rooms. Biggest disappointment: PAYING for Internet!!! In this day of easy communication, wifi is a must in order to attract clients, whether business people, students or families. Even hotels that were less great than […] this one had free wifi, so needless to say, this was a big black mark against future stays at ANY Holiday Inn Express Hotels! "holiday inn express, Riquet"
The hotel is 5 mins walk from the Riquet metro station. The hotel is canal facing and is in a beautiful location. We had canal facing rooms and so had very good view from the room. We were 4 adults and 2 children and had two connecting double rooms which was very convenient. There is a good childrens play area just outside the hotel and so my 5 yr old […] enjoyed. Also there is a sea food restaurant in the same building on the ground floor facing the canal. Looked good but didn't try. Also there was a busy bar with pool table and large screnn tv as well in the same building. A few minutes walk and there is a small town centre were there was a chinese and indian restaurant. Also African, a small supermarket etc. We tried the Indian and the food was excellent. It was a very small place but food was very good and like home food, not too oily. "Not Kids Friendly"
Please do not use this hotel if you are travelling with young family/ kids as its facilities do not cater for kids, found some staff to be quite rude and always making excuses, family room was not of a good size. not very impressed overall, can confidently say that wont be staying in another Holiday Inn Express anywhere.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We'd go to this hotel again."
We (two adults and one 7 yr old child) have just returned from three nights at this hotel, we loved it. Having read previous reviews about queueing for breakfast we were prepared to go out for a croissant but there was plenty of room each morning, plent of food, (two hot dishes and lots of cold choices) replenished frequently. The nearest metro stops […] are Riquet and Crimee which we used on our return journeys but we found the walk along the canal to Stalingrad stop very pleasant on our way out each day. Av de Flandres is parallel to the canal and has useful shops - Dia supermarket, Monoprix, pharmacies etc. just two minutes walk from the hotel. To get the metro from Gare du Nord to the hotel is easy, go to Gare de L'Est and change to line 7 for Riquet or Crimee. I chose this hotel because, although it's not right in the centre of Paris, with a young child I thought a HI Express would be a known quantity. The staff were delightful and very helpful, everything was spotless, we'd go again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great base for short stay"
Very smart and efficiently run hotel. Location next to the water very nice, lots of ppl jogging and having fun in the weekend. Good base for visiting all of Paris' sights, metro station Riquet nearby. Good breakfast, but be on time!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good but breakfast time could be so much better"
We have stayed here twice. The hotel's good, great position by the canal, close to a Metro station, with a good, reasonably priced (mainly fish) restaurant next door, however the downside, and the reason why we may not stay again, is the arrangements for breakfast. The dining room is too small for the number of guests, so there is often a queue (sometimes […] a very long queue) to get a table. The food is not set out in a sensible way, which causes more queueing. There isn't room to get enough food/crockery etc. out at one time, so things run out quickly and staff can't keep up with the replenishment, so again more waiting. We stayed for three days and on two of those days there was no scrambled egg during the whole time that we were breakfasting. As there are only hot dishes (sausages and scrambled egg), this is unacceptable. I saw several people asking for scrambled egg and they were told that it was coming. The coffee machine is also far too slow for the number of guests (and dispenses very small coffees!). The hotel needs to get someone who understands food service in to take a look at breakfast time and make some suggestions for improvements. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

GOOD QUALITY HOTEL WITH NICE VIEWS OVER CANAL. "Great hotel for Family Stay"
Really nice friendly hotel in very good location with very good value price tag. Been going to paris quite frequently for work and personal visits, i found this hotel much better in terms of location , quality and customer service (much better than the big names like Le Meridian, Concorde etc). The best thing about this hotel was very helpful and friendly […] staff. I stayed there with my wife and young kid and found it well equipped to cater families. The surrounding area is very nice with River view and has plenty of restaurants, bar for food and drinks. The only downside was that there was no fridge in the room which was kind of surprise in this day and age. I guess if someone goes in summer it will be a real problem without any cold water in the room at nights. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Express by Holiday Inn Paris"
This hotel is close to the metro station about 5 minutes walk. The hotel room we had on the 4th floor was a end room and very large. The staff were mainly helpful apart from one lady. The breakfast is basic but you can get by on it. The only down side i would say is that there is a bar under the hotel and the music was a little loud from about 11pm […] to 2am, but only background noise. The maid one day didnt leave enough towels for us all and we had to ask for extra milk for the tea making and they only gave about 2 really small pots so we brought our own milk one night, theres a supermarket a couple of minutes from the metro Casino ists called and it sells everything you could need, water etc 3 litres for 1 euro, and crisps and snacks too. "Suitability of hotel for travelling with kids under 2"
It was an environmentally friendly and clean hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful with directions and were very accomodating. (Needed extra spoon to feed baby, needed a adaptor plug for usage, these were provided free of charge for use). The room and bathroom were designed in contemporary fashion, and was very pleased with the white tiled shower […] and no tub option. I would give mixed review of the full breakfast provided, the hot portion of the food was rather tasteless. But there was wide variety, so you were definitely able to find something to eat. This is a great hotel if you are travelling with kids who are older than 2 or don't require a stroller. But because the hotel is located in Arrondissement 19, and most of the attractions are in Arrondissement 1 etc, you will find you need to switch lines, which can be a stuggle as most Metros don't have escalators, our toddler was in the between stage of using stroller and walking, so we found the location not to be suitable for us. "Excellent value for money"
I wasn't sure what to expect with this hotel but it turned out to be a great choice. The rooms were spotless. Staff pleasant and very helpful. Location close to the metro and an easy route into central Paris (15mins) . Surrounding area not great as you moved away from the hotel towards the station area but we felt comfortable enough. The hotel looks […] onto the canal/river and was part of the Paris Plage so had deckchairs and activities for the kids right outside the door. Breakfast thrown in as well and although basic, perfectly adequate, offering eggs, sausages, fruit salad, croissant, preserves etc. Internet a little pricey. I'd use them again. Excellent value for money. A happy customer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Okay stay, in an okay hotel"
The location by the canal is quite pretty, but the neighbourhood seemed a little rough. There is parking before the reception entrance, but if you miss it then you have to do a circuit around the block as the hotel is located on a one way street. This is a no frills hotel, but is clean and the staff are polite. If I had the same budget I would stay […] there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, slightly dodgy area"
I can't fault the hotel which was very clean and modern with a nice view of the Seine we managed to get adjoining rooms with an access door between which was fine for the kids and us. The cark park was perfect. However when it came to food, we had a problem as we arrived after 10pm and there was no restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast was good, albeit […] very busy. For a hotel of this size they could do with a larger breakfast room. We felt a little uncomfortable walking in the area - but the nearest metro is not that far. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"What an excellent location and ambiance in the area"
Arrived early evening, easy walk from Gare du Nord where we had landed from taking the Eurostar from London. Hotel is very modern and has that European flair for a Holiday Inn, quite different from the North American package. Very pleasant check in and room in very clean condition. Quiet surrondings and lots of local restaurants and activity on the […] canal. Dined in the cafe on the other side of the hotel, good food and reasonable prices. Best thing was the lavish buffet breakfast in the morning. Was expecting croissants and coffee and most surprised with full hot and cold selections, fresh cappuccino and lots of varieties of breads, cereals, juices etc. Would definitely stay here again. "Would definitely try to stay there again"
The hotel was a little far away from the city center when we drove there. However, the metro station is about a 5 minute walk so it was very easy to hop on the train and go to city center. The staff was friendly and helpful (she helped me translate something and helped us with the map of the city) and the hotel was clean and very vibrant. We absolutely […] LOOOVVEED the neighborhood. It was a beautiful sunny day and it is right on the chanel with boats, and people outside. It is not like the center of Paris feels more laid back. The beds were super comfortable. Easily fell asleep on the sofa bed we requested since there were three of us. The bathrooms were nice and clean. We did not have the breakfast there because we did not get up early enough. We did use their parking there which was 15 euro. It was very useful vecause in the summer it is nearly impossible to find parking, but the parking garage was very very small and very limited. Definitely love this hotel. Was not expecting it to be that nice for the price we paid :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good value hotel close to centre and metro"
This hotel was very good value . The staff were helpful and polite and the breakfast ( included ) was good for the money. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The location of the hotel was quiet. It is only a short walk from the metro which is on a direct line to the Opera and Louvre and Boulevard Hausmann ( Paris's Oxford street). The journey […] took about 15 minutes which was OK. The 5 min walk from the metro station to the hotel is a bit grubby but once you near the canal the impression changes. The setting and immediate surroundings of the hotel ( which overlooks the canal basin ) were attractive with a couple of OK restaurants where you can dine by the canal for around 30 - 40 Euros for 2. [ The majority of diners were French which is usually a good sign]. The area seems safe and is mainly is residential although there are banks, tabacs , bakers and supermarket on the main road near the metro ( Riquet ). The walk up the canal to Stalingrad metro was also pleasant. Overall i was very satisfied with this hotel and its location. An added bonus is that is quite close to the Gare du Nord.( 2 stops but you do have to change once). Provided you don't mind a short tube journey to the centre to see the attractions and main sites the hotel is a good value choice .I would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Overall a reasonably good hotel. Location is a little away from things but the subway system in Paris is so good everything is in easy reach. However, walking is also a good pastime as one can take in the wonderful architecture that Paris is well known for.
