This hotel has a great waterfront location. Our room had a wonderful view, and was very tastefully decorated. The beds were quite comfortable, and the soaking tub was great. We appreciated the electric tea kettle provided. Everything is quite new and seemed to be in good repair. The room, although elegant, was rather small. The heater was unbelievably […] noisy, making a loud whump when it started, and sounding like a diesel truck idling when it ran. It woke me up frequently during the night. The wireless internet access was quite weak in our room. I had to stand near the door with my laptop in order to get a strong enough signal to download email. No signal at all when sitting at the desk. It was too cold to use the small patio, but it seemed unwise to do so, since the gas fireplace from the unit next door vented directly on to our patio. The on-site restaurant was not open for lunch during advertised hours. Dinner was unimpressive, our server knew very little about the wine list, and the service was terribly slow in spite of there being only 4 occupied tables attended by two servers and a house manager. Breakfast, in contrast, was very good. Sharon provided excellent table service, our food was ready promptly, and the eggs Benedict were excellent. What a difference staffing makes! It seemed like a completely different restaurant in the morning. A wonderful view, attractive accommodations, but lackluster service and too many facilities problems. Read more

It was the perfect stopover for us after our friends wedding on Hornby island, to break up the journey back to vancouver city. The room was fantastic. We ordered room service for dinner and breakfast and the food was excellent. We had a lovely room on the beach side. It was great to have the boardwalk from the hotel over to the park. We enjoyed several walks along the beach and it was wonderful to spend 15 minutes in the hot tub before going to bed - I had a fantastic sleep that night! We'll definitely go back and are telling our friends about it.

The major problem is the green light from the smoke /carbon detector that is posotioned directly over my bed. It flashed on /off all night and was very, very disturbing. It either needs to move, the brightness be turned down a bit or a cover to block the light (but not the air). All else was excellent.

Surprisingly luxurious room, although the front desk reception was somewhat mechanical. I would have liked to feel that the property had some human characteristics, but I was left with feeling I had "access to a room" and nothing more in the way of welcoming or warmth. For Parksville and the BC beach experience it was beautiful, the enclosed balcony and mini kitchen delightful. Restaurant "resort" prices were rediculous. Going back though for the Christmas event. The last minute NewYearsEve2011 deal was phenominal.

I was very disappointed, the hotel closed the resterant for a planned event but that wasn't on the website when I booked it. The mattress was very hard and not very comfotable and the linen was not what I would have expected for the price. all in all very disappointing.

We stayed with our 2 young kids a room with 2 queen beds. The hotel was attractive and not pretentious, with easy beach access. The pool was warm with a decent deep end and a hot tub. The room was good, if a bit small for the insane price we paid - it had a good view though. The mini-kitchen area was very nice, as were the Aveda toiletries. We had paid for an upgrade to an "Ocean front" room, being our first time to Parksville. Our room was actually a "partial ocean view / mountain view". When we inquired about this, the hotel staff wasn't helpful and replied "this is how we sell it." We weren't showed any other room options. The room had 2 double beds for a couple and we had made a special […] request upon booking (months in advance) for a King. We brought this up again with a manager with the same response. The cleanliness of the hotel was very disappointing. The hall in front of the elevator wasn't vacuumed for 2 days and looked very junky. I doubt our room was vacuumed as on arrival there were bobby pins and fluff on the floor, that remained our entire stay. For a hotel that is sold as a "Beach Resort" it was small, not clean. There wasn't a separate comment section for the restaurant. That was great! Food was great, service was great and the staff, especially Laura, Richard were very friendly. Parksville area is great for families and the beach with the tide is very cool! Read more
