"Spacious outdated condo"
Condo was spacious and comfortable for telluride town standards. Furnishing was a bit outdated, from the 1980's. Check in was abit of inconvenience. Be ware of cleaning fee of $25/day + 20%tax which come out to about $30 addition /day that gets added it on. A bit ironic considering the unit lacked cleaning to began with, the kitchen cabinets were filthy, […] layered with grimy oil film. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Plenty of room"
We loved all the space this condo had.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great west-end location with views. Furnishings were a little dated but an excellent value for the area. Property has a full kitchen and garage parking, Convenient to shuttle. One detail, mentioned by others, is the lack of clarity of the 25.day housekeeping charge. Hotels reservation staff said it was included. Property management company said it was […] not. Response by Silver Star Telluride Condominiums Thank you for your feedback. It is important to us to provide a good value to our guests. I'm pleased that you thought the unit was nice. I hope we have the chance to work with you in the future so that we can better meet your expectations.
"Beautiful Mountain Village location"
Check in office not staffed. Would have been nice to have some minor questions answered at check in, but picking up key and gaining access to unit was not a problem. Otherwise, the condo was very clean and we had a very enjoyable stay in TellurideGenuine Expedia guest review
"adequate, but don't get your hopes up..."
pros: the price, location, and roominess of the 2-bdrm condo cons: internet did not work, tv reception very poor, hidden cleaning fee of $25/day definitely not a "luxury" property - old and a bit worn, but not unexpected for the price. this could have been fabulous, if everything worked properly and if the property managers invested in some of the […] niceties that travelers appreciate - including professional staff. most disappointing was the horrific deck that faced the interior of the property, with smells and noises from the restaurant next door. a broken rusted old deck chair included - ha! we were jealous of the neighbors with their balcony where they could sit outside and enjoy the magnificent beauty of Telluride. "not as pictured"
Hotels.com has not updated their site. The san Sophia is now under another name (Aspen tree inn) and owner. The condo we were put in was clean and well equipped, but decorated in the 80's. Since we were only there one night, it wasn't a big deal. But definitely not luxurious or as pictured.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Buyer Beware of Misleading Photos"
Our Major complaints: 1) The address given 300 West Colorado is the property managment and the name is Silver...not San Sophia so it was a little confusing 2) The PHOTOS listed on the Hotels.com website ARE NOT THE PROPERTY YOU BOOK! Think more of a 1970's chain of ski condos/lodge. 3) When we called to notify management that they put us in the wrong […] property we were told that they manage many properties and that the pictures may reflect these other properties on hotels.com. They did offer to put us in a new place however it was already 9:30 at night and our kids were exhausted. 4) We called earlier in the day to notify the management that we were going to be coming in late. They told us they would leave a package outside with our name on it. But failed to tell us where. The lighting was poor and we wasted alot of time trying to locate it. 5) They fail to mention on hotels.com that there is a daily cleaning fee. 6) Wireless passcode did not work POSITIVES: 1) It was very clean and they did provide towels 2) Hot tubs and saunas were nice 3) Close to town 4) If the pictures were accurate than we would not have been so upset at first. But when you are expecting an updated decor with flat screen tv's etc. and get a 1970's look it was a little shocking to say the least. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a great place to stay on a business trip."
The condominium was hot and stuffy with little or no air flow without the aid of the fan which was located in the living room when I arrived. On the 3nd night I couldn't keep the windows open due to a star wars movie they were playing in a nearby ampitheatre. Comparing the high cost to value I'll go elsewhere the next time around.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Place to Visit"
Place was a real nice place, little maintence problems, closet door - broken hinge, (FIXED) screen door wouldn't slide,(FIXED but needs replaced) ventalation system poor, cold at night - very hot in the day. WI-FI was POOR and they knew it. I had to work each day and it was impossible to do work via the internet to my work computer - they said it was […] going to be reworked - Not there problem but the public transportation was a problem, they published dates and times and it was WRONG. In the daytime the walk from downtown is nice but not at 11 PM. We thought they allowed pets and they didn't..... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"False Advertising. Luxury Condo is a joke!!!"
Extemely disappointed. Only positive is that the place was a decent size. However, unit 538 at the Telluride Lodge offered by the "San Sophia Luxury Condos" was anything but luxurious. Check in process easy and quick. The condo complex itself seemed to be marginally maintained from the outside. Our experience started when just getting into the condo […] was difficult due to a "tricky" deadbolt. Upon entering the condo a musty and unpleasant odor permeated the unit which persisted despite airing out the unit. In addition, this unit has not been updated since the 1980's. The teal green carpet was significanlty outdated, worn, and stained in multiple places. A free standing gas fireplace/stove stood on a tan and teal tiled hearth, also outdated. The living room furniture also extremely outdated and stained to the point where we were uncomfortable sitting on it. The kitchen had 2 extremely small mini-fridges, one of which was unusable due to frost. The outdated and worn furnishing theme persisted throughout the condo including carpeted bathrooms and tub/shower areas. Mostly disappointed by the false advertising with pictures of an obviously differnet condo and the suggestion that this was a luxury property. This place would qualify as a minimal frills condo at best. Asked by the staff at checkout about our stay we expressed our disappointment. Their comment was "Yeah, this unit is new to us and is pretty funky". Glad we stayed only one night and will never return or use San Sophia. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Needs a facelift"
I stayed here 5 years ago and not one thing has changed. I know that these are individually owned, but most of the units need to come into the 21st century. The unit was way too hot upstairs and way too cold downstairs. The bath and bedroom smelled musty. It has a great location and it is well managed by TAL, but it is definitely slipping.

Very upset with lodging here. We showed up to our unit at 4:30 (4pm check in) and it looked like a tornado hit. After numerous calls it was finally cleaned a couple hours later. We then had no keys for the unit or parking passes. The microwave did not work, we coukd access the hottub, which was disgustingly dirty anyway. The concierge service initially told me they did not know who I was...we called them no less than 10 times with no help and not one return call we were promised everytime we were brushed off. I have stayed at dozens of ski resorts and have never experieced anything remotely close to this operation!
"Good Homelike place to stay"

This is a summer (Hiking) trip we took. Stayed in Telluride for about 2 weeks, in July2013, in this Lodge. Short summary: it worked perfectly for our gathering. The trip: this was a life-time/milestone trip, combined with a scientific conference. Let me not getting into what was the "milestone", suffice to say, we were celebrate life with family. Note: this is for the lodge, there are separate review for food (AllRed's), the refill stop (Telluride Bottle works -- AKA: wine shop), and grocer (Clark's Market). The big hikes: We did a couple of serious hikes: 1. Blue Lake: about 12 miles round trip, 3000 feet elevation 2. Sneffels Highline: about 14 miles circle, 3500 feet elevation and a bunch of shorter ones. Why we like it: 1. Amenity This is a fully furnished lodge -- I mean really furnished nicely and feels just like a home away from home. We had a 3 bedroom 2 bath room unit, with washer and dryer; fully equipped kitchen, large frig, and good gas ranger, a decent sized patio; and common use grills (Webber). The complex has hot tub and (small) pool. It is setup for a relax and extended stay, especially for us, who are good cook and love a good homemade meal and a few bottles of good wine, after a long day of hiking in the mountains 2. Location The complex is next to the Clarks market (separate review), for anything you forget to bring or craving, you can just walk over, without worrying about the pot on the stove. It is also right off the river trail, you can run, walk, or bike, if you just want to have an easy time. It is easy to walk to any restaurants and bars, if we are too lazy to cook 3. Price It is very reasonable, for what we want to have. Summer time the rate is not as crazy as the peak of the sky season. That will be a different trip. 4. Staff We did not interact too much with the staff, but a few we did talk to, they are very nice, familiar with the area, and extremely helpful. Overall, we liked the lodge very much, highly recommended. You cannot go wrong with it.

We booked a condo a Telluride Lodge for a week in the summer as part of science conference held in Telluride. After booking I was distressed to find the Trip Advisor reviews were not that great. Having spent a week in one of their 3 BR condos I have to say it was overall a great choice. The condos are right at the edge of this small town and had good (and free) parking. You can walk everywhere in town. If you want to go up on the the Mountain Village, the free gondala is a 10 minute walk away. The condo was very clean and had a decent kitchen. We visited one of the other condos and found it to be set up somewhat differently, but found it also was clean and with a good kitchen. We had lots of space. While there were no great views from any of the windows, we found this to be a good place to base our visit to T. Moreover, there is a decent grocery store adjacent to the condos. The grocery had a deli and there is also a deli in the small office building also adjacent. So one can walk uptown if you want fine dining or just pick up groceries or a sandwich next door if you want something simpler. Nothing to complain about here except that the free Wi-Fi worked fine for me, but my roommate (also with a PC) had a harder time maintaining a connection.
"Worked for us"

The reviews already written are accurate--this is a large condo complex owned by various owners and so each unit is different. We stayed over spring break, which is a very busy time in Telluride. We wanted a location near the lifts, so this seemed good. Also, we got a very good price from Silver Star Luxury Properties. We were able to see pictures of the unit (411) before we rented, and it was exactly as pictured. Very clean, modern, comfortable. Our unit was a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom with loft, but ended up really working more as a 3/2.5. Our teenaged son stayed in the loft which had a TV and full-size bed. The configuration of our unit was three-story split-level, and from the upper floors, the views were great. Here are some tips that weren't publicized when I booked, but were very nice amenities: 1. Unit 411 came with two spa bathrobes for each bedroom. If I had known that, I would not have packed my own! 2. Each bedroom has a humidifier available 3. Each bathroom has a full-sized blow dryer 4. The unit has a washer and dryer 5. As others have said, it is a two-minute indoor walk to Clark's grocery, and that is very handy 6. Kleenex, shampoo, lotion, paper towels, and dishwashing soap are all provided 7. There is a ski closet assigned to each unit. Ours also had sleds in it. Here are a couple of drawbacks that you might want to consider: 1. Parking is very difficult, and not covered or assigned. There is enough, but you might be quite far from your condo. We arrived late Saturday night, and had to hike across the whole complex from our car to our condo. Fortunately, there are breezeways you can pull under for loading and unloading, but it's hard to figure that out at midnight. Snow was bout a foot deep when we were unloading, so it was really a chore. The weather warmed up, but if it had stayed cold or snowed more, the cars would have stayed buried. Later, we moved the car closer to the unit, but really didn't need it our entire stay. It appears that many other condo complexes have the same problem. I think it's just part of Telluride--it's a rugged town and that's part of the charm. 2. The condo provides lots of staples (see #6 above), but no sugar, coffee filters, or laundry detergent. You might want to bring your own, but again, the grocery store is close 3. There is maid service at no additional charge, but no "do not disturb" sign. The maids came before 9:00 am our first day. The property rental people said they come between 10:00 and 4:00, and it varies from day to day. If you turn them away early in the morning, they do not come back later 4. The walls are thin, but people generally were very considerate, and honored the quiet hours from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Overall, we were very, very happy.
"Not a good value"
09/09/12 lginotti Hartford, Connecticut
#305 is tired. Soiled and dirty furniture, bad odor when you enter, mildew in shower grout. The room they call small bedroom as you enter is no more than a utility room (maybe 6 x 6 ft) with a twin bed, no closet. The water heater is right by the bed. Way over priced for what they offer. Also, wi-fi only works 15% of the time. Would not use Telluride Lodge again. Terrible value, misled.
"Very disappointed with Telluride Lodge"
08/13/12 turtle722 denver
We recently stayed in unit 525 at Telluride Lodge and I was very disappointed with the accomodations. For the price it may have been a decent value, but the lodging was way below my expectations. I would have to recommend spending an additional $30 to $50 a night and avoiding this place. First, the deck looked about ready to cave in and was sagging in several spots. To make matters worse there was not a single piece of deck furniture. no chair no table. Second, the walls and floors are thin. The unit above us was in use, and we heard almost everything going on in their unit. The units were built in the late 70s and nothing has been updated. I was expecting a bed with a sleeper sofa. We had the 1 bed, but the sofa was a small futon that wouldn't even fit 2 kids. The kitchen amenties were barely adequate. Lastly, the location is on the far side from the Gondola and heart of Telluride. I knew this going in, but upon reflection it was more of a nuisance than I thought. The management company was fine, no complaints with them. I suppose there is a reason these are priced this low. Again, we were only in unit 525 and did not ask to be moved. I don't know if all units are as poor as this one.

Basic lodging, some fancier lodging is available in Telluride, but reasonable price. You may get really lucky and have a condo that has a very attentive owner, you may get one that looks like the early 90's. However, the location is pretty good for a awl and easy access back to town. This would probably be a 5 star in the winter. Right on the mountain.
"#420. Good ski location. OK property. So-so rental agency"
03/13/12 Ob3ron Ann Arbor, Michigan
Telluride lodge feels like a cross between a condo and a hotel. A lot depends on the owners of the unit, but also on where it's situated. #420 is on the lower of two levels, with views of... the other condos. No real reason to open the shades. Maybe typical of 'premium' condo rentals, the surface fixtures are nice enough but the underlying construction is cheap -- if someone's staying in the unit above you, you'll easily keep track of their comings and goings. And getting up from a chair. And sitting back down. And turning on the tv... The carpets and furniture are clean but pretty worn. The unit has 3 bedrooms, 2 of which are (or feel like they're) subterranean -- only the master bedroom is above sea-level. The living space is comfortable for 3-4 people, but would've been crowded for 6. The kitchen is well stocked with reasonable equipment, and cooking was not a problem. (Just don't look for a place to store any food other than on the countertops.) Telluride Lodge is across the street from the base of Coonskin lift, which turns out to be not so convenient for getting up onto the mountain unless you're going to ski Coonskin lift all day. To get to The Plunge or any of the back bowls (or the Mountain Village blue runs), you'll want to take Oak Street lift or the gondola -- both about a 10 minute walk from TL. Coming home at the end of the day, even if you don't want to ski the snow-hungry black scree runs (Milk Run...), it's possible to take Telluride Trail all the way down to the base of Coonskin, though, so the walk home can be short (across one street). As a bonus, Telluride's grocery store is close, so the 10-minute walk into town for shopping or restaurants/bars is at least partially offset by a 2-minute (indoor) stroll to the grocery. The rental agency for #420 (Elevation Rentals) has friendly people. But we made daily phone calls to them because of lack of info in the condo. No parking pass that was promised, wifi setup and passwords not as instructions suggested, no info on where to get the bus into town, no info on where to take the garbage, no spare garbage bags... Problems were fixed. But why were there problems to begin with?
