Our room door had a very insecure lock. We reported it, they came and checked it out. They promised to replace it the next day. They never did. The location of this hotel is great in East Jerusalem, easily accesinble to the old City at very short walking distance from the Damascus Gate. Had a great view from my room over the old city at the distance, with a commanding view of the Dome of the Rock..

I am signle female traveler who stayed 2 nights in mid October of 2010. This hotel is literally about 30 second walk down easy hill to Herod's Gate (just walk down the hill and cross the street to the right); and maybe an additional 2 minutes to the Damascus Gate. Great service at the fronth counter and nice breakfast buffet. On the street of the hotel […] are pharmacies/places to eat and medical services. Felt very safe, no issues. Room very clean and only issue was an old TV that I had to turn on/off several times before it worked. You just can't beat the location! A very dated hote,l but very clean. Make sure you get a 'city view' room as on the other side of the hotel you will have the constant noise from tour coaches bringing in tour groups. Outside the streets are very scruffy and ladies might want to cover up a lot more than normal in the area. Staff friendly enough, but service a little slow. Just five minutes walk to Jerusalem's Herod's Gate, the Holy Land Hotel is excellent for visiting the old city. One needs to understand that most of the guests seem to belong to pilgrimage tours, both Christian and Moslem. This is not a hotel it is at best a 2 star MOTEL. Be aware that this motel is in the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem and the area stinks of drains and is very dirty, You will hear the calls to prayer in every section of this motel!! Do not use pre paid telephone cards at this hotel as they will try to charge you anyway, they tried to charge us for calls […] we apparently made when we weren't even in the motel?! If you dial half a number, realise you made a mistake and try to redial you will be charged anyway, even if you dial one diget you will be charged. We were offered the same breakfast every single day. P.S Haggle hard especially in the Armenian quarter, offer a third of the price first and only go upto half price, pretend to walk out if you have to and you will get a good price. Try to shake their hand as you offer a price and they will have to sell it to you. It may sound ruthless but so are they! American dollars are worth more, although you will get your change in shekels. Don't get excited buy all your souveniers toward the end of your holiday. e.g I bought a 1300 shekel £216 prayer shawl for 300 shekels about £50 quid and believe you me they still make a healthy profit. Just 2 min walk to the Old City, and a view of the Dome of the Rock from my window. Surrounding neighbourhood friendly and safe, plenty of shops and resturants close by, and convenient to transport. Clean rooms, helpful staff, and all the cab drivers know how to get here. Hint: There is an ATM in the Post Office at the bottom of the street.

Lugnt och trevligt hotell med ett perfekt läge intill Herodesporten. Stort och rymligt rum med en underbar utsikt över gamla stan. Rent och snyggt. Även takterass hade utsikt över gamla stan. Das Hotel ist OK, es gab Frühstück, das Auto konnte man auf dem engen und stark frequentierten hoteleigenen Parkplatz abstellen (die meisten Gäste kommen offensichtlich per Bus).
