Cadillac Hotel - Venice

The room was tiny. The carpet was dirty and stained & looked like it was pieced together. The bathroom had nowhere to hang towels. When we requested a roll away bed we were told it was a $15 fee. There was also a $5 servicing fee added at checkout. The windows have no screens and didn't stay open. I will not stay here again.

Overall I would say the hotel is a 3.5. If you have ever been to Venice then you realize there is a lot more “crust” to the surrounding area than Santa Monica beach. The hotel is centrally located and there are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Plus the beach is only a few hundred feet from the front door. The staff was very helpful […] and friendly. The rooms were pretty simple and clean. I would recommend this place for a bunch of single kids looking to have a good time close to the beach. I had my young children with me and it was not idle for my situation. There were plenty of homeless folks roaming around across the street from the hotel. But this is to be expected in Venice Beach. For the money, this is a great hotel. Sure it's not a 5 star resort, but for what I paid, I felt that I got my money's worth. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that asked. Between us customers, I'd of happily paid another $40 for this room.

Parking was a joke, fees for internet that was not needed, carpet stained and very noisy hotel experience. The photos posted were far from correct very misleading on line stated that the rooms were just redone. Lots of homeless people hanging around the hotel.

The staff ( room attendants & desk staff) were very responsive to any questions or requests my wife & I made! Our room, on the 4th floor front corner overlooking the pedestrian/roller blade path, a huge beachfront, the bike path & the Santa Monica carousel & roller coaster ,a mile away, was outstanding! Our very clean room originally was (back-in-the-day) […] Charlie Chaplin's mistress's ! The roof top veranda provided views of California in 4 directions for miles & miles! We definitely will return on our next trip to California! The building needs new windows but other than that it was comfortable! I wanted to be on the beach, and the hotel was just across the river of cement used by pedestrians, bikers, skaters, a great people-watching location. Venice is not Beverly Hills or the tourist parts of L.A., its quirky, its loud, its a hang out location. Yes its a older hotel, but I felt perfectly safe, the staff were very nice. No, they didn't carry […] my luggage, but they knew the area and could make good recommendations on where to go. You're literally walking distance to Santa Monica, the shops on Pacific Ave., places to drink/eat. If you don't want to be surrounded by people, don't come here, but if you want options and like to mingle, this is the place. Roof top viewing area was easy to get to, and the computer in the lobby was very convenient to print boarding pass. There is a $5 charge for internet and computer use, the hotel parking is $20 and the lot is small, only 18 slots and you have to back out unless there are empty spaces near you, but if you can snag one you're good for overnight as street parking is a challange. If you want to be in Venice beach, this is perfect! If you don't want to be around crowds all day and homeless people all night, stay in Santa Monica. This is a cool, funky, old place. Loved the rooftop hang at night. For the money, can't beat it!

Convenient location, nice staff, well maintained. Why the plastic covers on the mattress? I would take those off, unless they are on for sanitation reasons. The view of the beach was great, and one is close to restaurants and sites.

Cadillac Hotel is a funky fun place. The rooms are a bit small, but neat and clean. The lobby is fun, in a Venice sort of way. This is a perfect accommodation if you are looking for a beach location with close access to all that Venice, CA has to offer. Hard to park (unless you paid them $15/day for it), loud area with homeless people out front, other visitors seemed to be staying to party and it was loud all night. The room didn't have air conditioning and the accompanying fan to drown out the noise outside of the room. Nice bathroom and a spacious room, but rather dirty.

Small, conveniently located hotel right on the Venice Beach. Bathroom recently refurbished, room itself moderate. Only ceiling fan for cooling, not enough. Friendly staff. Homeless can be a shock for first timers but normally nothing to worry about.

Simple and clean. Great value for location. Nice, helpful staff. We stayed two nights in Feb and the weather was 81 and 67.... perfect. A lot of homelessness but it was never an issue. I am asked for change more often in Boston on one walk than I was asked in Venice Beach the entire weekend.

Booked last minute and hotel exceeded my expectations. Hotel is right on the beach close to lots of nice pubs and restaurants. The room was large had big kitchen and bathroom. Easily walking distance to santa monica pier and lots of bike rental shops. We rented some bikes nearby and cruised up and down the beach and it was beautiful. Hotel was middle of the road but the location is a bit see-die. You're right on Venice Beach which is ok during the day but the homeless come out of the woodwork during the night. I wouldn't recommend kids or someone without a thick skin.

Nice hotel right on the beach. All in all a good place but some simple cosmetic fixes would've made a big difference. Lack of any trash receptacle in the room was the first thing I noticed. Cold night in LA and steady breeze coming through gaps in window frame was an issue as well. That said, I'd come back.

Very tight quarters. Rooms are extremely small, and very minimal. Website said that rooms have refrigerators, this is not the case. Not is any ice available. Our radio/alarm/mp3 doc did not work, and was not replaced. Toiletries other than hand soap and shampoo not provided. The location is great, right on boardwalk but not a safe feeling/vibe at all. […] The bed is wrapped in plastic , I understand sanitary reasons, but I could not sleep on noisy uncomfortable plastic and this made for a rough night. It was by far the best deal around. Given it's location and proximity to the boardwalk, it was an ideal location for us. Literally 30 yards to the beach from the front door. Yes, there are a lot of homeless nearby, but that is expected pretty much anywhere along the boardwalk regardless of where you go. BUT BEWARE, the parking is less than ideal. Hidden […] "fees" - You can park in the lot directly behind hotel for an additional $15/NIGHT or chance it on the metered spots 1-2 blocks away. Room was clean. The staff were very friendly. Location was right on the beach, so it was nice falling asleep to the crashing waves. That is if the couple next door aren't feeling amorous. Walls are thin. But I would stay there again and would heartily recommend the cadillac hotel.

The Cadillac Hotel was absolutely perfect! It was just what we needed for our first night stay in California. It was located right on the beach, and has an AMAZING rooftop view. Although there was not free parking, or breakfast, the pricing what perfect for its location.

Just say no! The hotel was surrounded by homeless people, at the door and in the dumpsters where the cars are parked. It gives a very unsafe feeling. The walls and doors are paper thin, you can hear when a cell phone rings next door. The staff blocked in my car so every time I wanted to leave I was delayed by at least 10 min. They also did not do a […] wakeup call which could have led to serious repercussions at the airport (thankfully, I woke up). There were hairs in the bed and the heat barely worked so the room and bathroom were very cold.
