A nice, clean hotel very close to the downtown business and shopping area. Desk staff very pleasant and helpful. The room was well maintained, and kept clean. It included a relatively new flat panel television (with a limited number of channels) and a refrigerator. The desk staff were always pleasant and helpful in answering questions and in arranging for an airport shuttle. I would certainly stay here again.

We stayed in the 2 story suite on 10th floor. There are a lot of room for 3 of us. The suite is clean, and convenient with kitchen, and washer and dryer, 2 lcd tv, two separated bedrooms, a living room, and a bathroom. We enjoyed our room a lot. Hotel location is within short walking distance to the sky tower where the hop on and hop off bus stop is right in front, and about 10 min walk to queen st where you can find all the stores, restaurants, and movie theater in there.

The location is great - right in the heart of downtown and within walking distance to the Sky Tower. The room was extremely clean and comfortable and was perfect for the two of us. The staff were very friendly as well. And for the price, you absolutely MUST stay here! I can't recommend it enough!

the ACH is not very impressive at first sight - no sweeping driveways or uniformed concierge. However, the reception staff were excellent - very helpful at all times and friendly and courteous. The room was a twin double - well furnished with a small but complete kitchenette at the entrance. The bathroom was a good size and had a very good shower. The hotel also had launderettes strategically placed on several floors - very useful when doing a R-T-W trip and needing facilities to refresh. The hotel is conveniently situated and close to the famous Skytower. There are numerous free shuttle bus services which run around the city centre and down to the ferry terminals. Good shopping is very close by - easy walking distance - and there is an abundanhce of eating places from snacks to up-market restaurants all very close to the hotel. The hotel has a malaysian restaurant as its only eating lace but it did not seem especially inviting to us. The hotel was excellent value for money and our stay was most enjoyable. We would certainly recommend it

Booked the room 24 hours before my stay when my plans for Auckland went askew due to weather conditions on the South Island cancelling flights. Hotel is good value for money. Room was great and I was upgraded to a studio apartment on my 4th night. Nice and close to centre of town (takes 5 minutes to be on Queen Street). Only criticism would be that both rooms suffer from draughts under the doorways which normally wouldn't be so bad except the floors are half carpet half tiles and so it feels like walking on ice cubes to get to the toilet. A hotel towel easily remedies the problem.

I had a great experience with this hotel. It is located in downtown, but the hotel's interior is very nice and safe. It is newly remodeled, which makes it look brand new. We arrived very early, but we didn't have to check in early. They have a nice lounge to rest, and we were able to leave our luggages at the front desk at no extra cost, so we can go out. We didn't have to rent a car in the city. We just took public transportation bus to tour around. I love New Zealand, very tourist friendly.

I sayed in the Auckland City Hotel and found the hotel to be modern, comfortable and within walking distance of quite a few attractions including Sky Tower. I found it very easy to get arround the city. It was also only a block away from the bus terminal so getting anywhere in the city was easy. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a renovated hotel, so the heat and a/c are in room units instead of a central unit, but I have found this to be common place in New Zealand. The one complaint, if there is one, is that when you leave the room all the power goes off in the room so your temperature devices that control go off as they are plugged in. So the room would get hot or cold depending on the outside temperature. I found it though to not be a big deal as I just left a window open and this kept it from being too stuffy inside. The cafe down stairs was good for breakfast and for light snacks/lunch but not really good for large meals, thought there are plenty of good resteraunts in the area. I really enjoyed myself, and I recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel is nice and new and had no problems with it directly, but it's located across the street from the City Mission and the surrounding neighborhood in downtown Auckland is a bit rundown. Safe and close enough to main strip if you are really pressed for budget, but I'd stay a bit closer to Queen Street or the harbor next time...or actually stay outside Auckland period.

Really liked the cleanliness of the rooms and their facilities (microwave, mini-fridge, stove, etc). It was cold in the room at first, but they brought in another heater and a down comforter, and my wife was cozy thereafter. We were there in August, the NZ winter. The staff was outstanding and helped us out when my wife had a medical issue. They also stored our bag for us and were very attentive. The location is grreat for acess to the downtown businesses and the SkyTower. Would definitely stay here again when we're back in Auckland

Located in the center of Auckland, one block from "the needle". Parking is very expensive at the hotel, and very limited parking space. No restaurant inside the hotel. The room was very clean, with LCD TV. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

This hotel has a vintage facade attached to a very modern building, very green hotel, first one we stayed at that has "Smart rooms". Lights go out after you remove card key from holder for energy conservation. The location is with in walking distance of the whole downtown Auckland, Skycity district. Theaters, cinemas, casino, shopping, port for day trips, and many restaurants of all nationalities. Felt very safe walking back to the Auckland city hotel, Hobson Street at midnight after a movie. Close to the police station and high-rise apartment buildings. Cab fare was reasonable for two people from airport to hotel and no rental car need to get a round down town area. Standard rooms are a little small for American standards. Deluxe room, were not much more for a lot more room included small Kitchenette.Washers and dryers located through building. Staff was top notch and kept hotel very clean. Plan to stay at again.

The hotel had just opened a week before our arrival. So the room was brand new and exceptionally clean. It was a studio with a kitchenette. The kichenette lacked a few essentional items which we made known to the management. They promised to correct these deficiencies. Overall a pleasant stay right downtown Auckland in walking distance to all major attractions.

This is a new hotel in Auckland but the stay was great, staff very friendly, rooms big, plenty of amenities although the internet charges are a bit pricey and it is slap bang in the centre of town. Definately recommend and would stay her again in a heartbeat.

This is a recently opened hotel, very close to the centre of town but relatively quiet none the less. Behind what appears to be a victorian facade is a shiney new tower with a range of rooms for self catering. Facilities included a gym and a self service laundry. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, especially Marilou on reception. The cost of the stay was very reasonable , but please note there are no breakfast facilities. The one down side was that there seemed to be a lack of central heating although individual room heaters are supplied. the location is a bit unusual , being surrounded by residential flats which overlook each other a bit, but this does not in any way detract from a comfortable and quiet stay. The air port bus stop is two hundred yards from the hotel door making it even more convenient for the international traveller.
