"Old and tired"
Wow! I've been to a few old motels/inns/hotels but this one takes the cake. The room had a funky smell as soon as you open the door. It didn't have an aircon and the room felt stuffy, a fan would have been nice. You can hear everything going on around you, your neighbors, people walking down the streets, cars passing, etc like they were happening inside […] your room. The security bolt didn't work, the exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work, the carpet was dingy. I know they say you get what you pay for but to find out that we could have got a room $30 cheaper if we were walk-ins was the icing on the cake. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Needs work to be a first class place"
I was disappointed in the extreme by this room. i was raised in this town and the City Center was always known as a first class place...50 years ago! The room hasn't changed. The bathroom shower was a dark hole in the wall in which the shower head was frozen in a position that prevented direct spray. The windows were old fashioned single sash single […] pain wood windows. When I checked in all the windows were open, even though some didn't have screens. I never did get the TV to work. And there was no in room phone to contact the front desk to tell them the TV didn't work. All in all a very expensive second rate room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect Beach Hotel for the family!"
Loved how quaint the hotel is and how close to the beach it is. Walking distance to everything in town. Staff is extremely friendly. Wish we could have stayed more than one night. Very reasonably priced too. :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to the beach but hotel is run down"
rooms are very small no place to sit beds hard as a rock shower so small your rubing the curtin luck worm water ?Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The family room is very nice but carpet smells bad"
overall the stay was ok, like the other reviews stated, a one day stay is doable as the carper/room smelled REALLY bad and very noticeable while sleeping. I would of wanted to stay another night there if it wasn't for the smell.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small but Decent Motel...Service not so much."
The motel was in a good location blocks away from the Aquarium, beach, and 'Downtown". Room was small and clean with no air conditioning. The lady that checked us in was short with us like she didn't want us there. When I checkout of the motel, the gentleman was a lot nicer (100% improvement over the lady the day before.) We stayed RIGHT across from […] the pool and we could hear everything...at least it was quiet otherwise. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Well located and nice staff"
This hotel is nothing fancy but the staff is nice and helpful. It is 2min away from the beach and they have a free parking lot. Rooms could be cleaner but overall it was not a bad experienceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"very close to the beach"
It was very nice to have this place so close to the beach. Was a block away. Full kitchen was useful, had a great time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, but could use an update."
Very short walk to the beach. Off the main drag. Very convenient location. We shopped and played nearby and made short loops back to drop things off. Made it easy. Walls are a bit thin, but that deals more with inconsiderate neighbors verses the hotel. Small pool. Friendly staff, but they did not clean our room the next day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Okayish Hotel, Great Location"
Hotel was fine. For the price, it's pretty obvious what you are getting. It was clean however, and staff was curteous. Location is great. Walkable to every thing beachside and two blocks from the water.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Room smelled like a foot locker Toilet leaked room was dingyGenuine Expedia guest review
we celebrated our 56th anniversary here because this is where we spent our honeymoon. the pictures looked good but inside ours was ancient history. the drain in the shower was plugged. it was old and tiny. the bed was ok. it was quiet. this should be torn down! this was the worst bathroom I have ever seen.Genuine Expedia guest review
Room was clean staff was great, downside was being next to the pool. Loud at night till ten then quiet, but back at it at early in the morning.Genuine Expedia guest review
"City Center Hotel"
It has an excellent location near the shopping area and big carrousel. There is just a short walk to the beach. the staff was very nice and the rooms were clean. We had three rooms rented for our family and were not happy that two of the rooms you could not lock the dead bolt as it didn't line up correctly. There also was a large gap between the door […] and the door frame on two of the rooms. One of the showers only sprayed out half of it. We told the desk attendant of these things when we left and he said that he would report all our complaints to the management. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We had a good time there. The staff were super friendly. The room was comfortable. I will keep going back.Genuine Expedia guest review
The neighbors around us were entirely too loud, and we could hear the people in the pool all the time. Other than that, the motel was great and so was the service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap and close to the beach"
Great experience overall. Staff was helpful and friendly, the room was clean and cozy, and it was within walking distance of the beach and downtown. The room was nice, obviously a little older, but very clean. It had a nice sized, newer flatscreen HDTV with lots of channels including HBO which was nice. The bed was kind of sunken in on one side, but […] we slept pretty comfortably anyway. That's really the only complaint I would have about this place, and it wouldn't prevent me from staying here again. In fact, next time we go to Seaside this is most likely where we'll stay. Very reasonably priced. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Affordable rates for excellent location"
I stayed here with my husband and our toddler for a long weekend. We were one or two blocks from anything we wanted to get to, which was super convenient, and the price was very affordable. The accommodations were not fancy, but were adequate. The office staff could do better at customer service, but they were well-intentioned and it was fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Much better than I expected based on the price"
I wanted an inexpensive room near the beach and I'm glad I didn't let the previous poor reviews deter me. The City Center Motel is a great value option amid all the $100+ options around the Oregon coast, and it's a block from the beach! The room had everything I needed; Fridge, Microwave, TV, private bathroom, 12pm checkout, and a workspace. The bed, […] I admit like other reviewers, was not that comfortable, but I've slept in worse in other motels. I didn't try out the pool, but maybe next time because I'm sure I'll stay here again. "not what we expected"
first it was dirty, dust on everywhere. beds were not made properly. and the sheets did not fit properly. we went to shower and when we turn on the hot water all the way. we only got very lukewarm water. noise from the next room's dogs, kept us up 3/4 of the nite. no phone in the room to call front desk to complaint. this was a no smoking room, we found […] niciatine resitude all over the bathroom. the funny thing about this , as we were checking out, we complained to front desk blew us off like they did not care. "Nice for the Price."
For the price of this hotel, it honestly wasnt bad. We stayed for one night just to get away from Portland. You do get what you pay for, the bed was pretty stiff. And there is no fan in the bathroom so it gets very steamy during a shower. But the location is what makes it worth the pay. About a block away from the heart of downtown, and only a short […] walk to the beach. When my daughter went to the front desk to see if the TV had a DVD player and if they had movie channels, she said it was basic cable and not DVD. but when we turned on the TV there were many, many channels - more than basic. "COMPLIMENTS ON OUR STAY AT CITY CENTER MOTEL"
The room was very clean and the hotel assistance were very pleasant. We would stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review
I understand you get what you pay for... Although... This motel is super dingy and way outdated. I mean motel six looks like a 5 star hotel compared to this one. I decided I could look past that though. The walls are paper thin, and several creepy looking people live on premise. There was a dog barking all night in the room next to ours also. The worst […] part was there was easily a 2 inch gap between the door and the door frame, letting in light, sound, wind and everything. It also could have jeopardized our security since the door did not properly lock. They do not have black out curtains so it was extremely bright in the morning too. Neither my husband not I got any sleep. The bed was comfy, but that was about it. I asked for a refund and spent the rest of my trip elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice quiet hotel"
Stayed during spring break 2014 was nice and quiet!Genuine Expedia guest review
Staff was very nice, location was great, rooms were clean. The lighting in the room is not very good and you have to dry your hair outside of the bathroom as there is no outlet. While the boardwalk feature is nice it tends to be noisy when people are walking and kids are running. I would stay there again short term, but would definitely not stay over […] a couple of days at the most. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
If you go in with the expectation that's it's going to be an older hotel then you will be fine. The chairs and mattresses need a serious upgrade. My mattress was not comfortable. Very saggy. Also there was a smell in the room that just made it uncomfortable for me. I'm not sure if it was because it was an old building or not. Ladies be aware that no […] hair dryer is provided. They don't even have one at the front desk to borrow. I highly suggest that the hotel at least has them for guests to borrow. Usually I'm only in a hotel at night to sleep so I can put up with a not so fancy room. The chair and the mattress however were so uncomfortably that it wasn't pleasant to sit in the room. I just couldn't get over the smell either. For those reasons I'm not sure I'll stay their again. The best thing about the hotel is its location. It's within walking distance to just about everything u may want to do. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice location, close to the beach, the room could have more electric outlets as there are only 3 in the room and they are used by their appliance such as TV , fridge and night table lamp. We unplugged the one for the fridge and it was SO old that our plug was not staying in!!! Pleas note: there no hair dryer either. We enjoyed our room at the very back, […] quiet . "Great place to stay!"
09/11/14 Johnny Z Portland, Oregon
Why senselessly bust your wallet going to expensive hotels when you can go to this one for a fraction of the price. If you're on a budget or want a great deal then make a reservation here. The money you save here can be spent more on restaurants or stores. (It can get a little spendy). For $69 I reserved a room (1 night) with a king size bed for my fiancée and I. The receptionist was super friendly and he even remembered my name after talking to him just once. IDK what other people's room look like, but we got room #3 and ours looked good. Furniture looked pretty new and the bed was really comfortable. Had to wipe down a few things that are usually neglected by the cleaning staff of most hotels/motels (e.g. remote, headboard, table.). Used a wet-wipe on the headboard and there was a brown imprint of my hand on the wipe. Other than that, there were no other complaints that we had. If you want a great view, just walk down a block or two to the beach or the main touristy area where all the shops/restaurants are.
"Skip this one if you can"
09/04/14 Richard D Bayfield, Colorado
If you don't mind your neighbor's open bathroom window across about a 3-foot walkway from your open window (no air conditioning at this motel) then I guess this is your kind of place. This place is a maze of narrow outdoor walkways to many rooms with ours also being next to the motel laundry where the commercial dryer ran until 9pm and started up bright and early the next morning. This is one place to skip if you can budget even a few extra dollars for more conventional lodgings.
"It'll do fine!"

The motel was easy to find on 1st Avenue one block back from the beach, opposite a huge and ugly car park. It reminded me of how motels were twenty years ago but with a 21st century price tag. But then Seaside reminded me of how resorts were back in the 80s. A little dowdy, a bit tacky, rather pointless - but the coast going south from here is spectacular and Astoria is only a few miles away so you have everything close!

When we checked in we were told we had a queen bed. It was a double which we decided we could live with in this tiny room. Unfortunately we didn't check the condition of the mattress until we were going to bed. The mattress was HORRIBLE!! No matter how hard we tried we sank to the middle. The mattress in 214 needs to be replaced. I questions the integrity of someone who would rent a room like this to seniors much less anyone else. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT
"Doing it old school"
08/22/14 Barry E Lake Stevens, Washington
We made late plans to go to Seaside and had few choices for a room. Most were the high end prices, but the City Center Motel had rooms for a great price. The motel is an old school road house type of place where the rooms are almost apartment's with all you need for a long stay. Oddly, the one thing my room lacked was hangers, or hooks, or a closet. Plenty of places to put things, but not to hang up things. This was interesting, but not a problem. The room looks like it was completely re-done with new paint and furniture, just the hooks were missed. There is a ceiling fan but just like all coastal motels, no AC. But this is the Pacific coast and you do not need them. We had only to cross a public parking lot and we were in the center of Seaside activities and 200 yards to the boardwalk. Could not be better located. It is also the most quiet place as we did not have any noise issues at all. There were no kids running down the hall to disturb your sleep, and that is great. Very nice and comfortable stay and we enjoyed it.
"Great place to stay on a budget"
08/18/14 Crisie B
Love this place. We reserved the king plus 2 queens with a kitchenette and were very pleased. It was more like a little apartment than a motel. The king was in the main room and then there was two bedrooms with a queen in each. The kitchen has a full size fridge, sink and a stove. Not to mention dishes, cooking pans and utensils. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed three nights and had myself, my husband and three teen children plus our 5 month old lab. There was tons of room for everyone. It is very central to everything. A block away from Broadway in one direction and a block away from the beach in the other. We will be coming back for sure!!
"Was truly amazed.... great room, great experience, great location."
08/08/14 Debi W Vancouver, Washington
was traveling with my girl scouts. The room had a king and 2 queens and a pull out couch. All super comfy. 3 separate rooms, full kitchenette full size fridge stove plates and bowls cups. . The table only had seating for 3 but we survived. 2 blocks from the beavh, 2 blocks from Broadway main drag, and arcade and stuff. I was so amazed. So affordable. Very happy.
"Very happy with our choice to stay at the City Center Motel"
08/04/14 kimod74 Colorado
Hotel is located a quick 2 blocks from the beach and is right smack in the middle of seaside. We parked our car in the hotel lot and left it there. We walked everywhere we wanted to go! We got a great deal on a 2 queen room right across from the pool. $69 a night. you can't complain about that in Seaside! Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Sure, the rooms need a little refresh but they were not as "abused" as I was expecting. The room met our needs. CONS: property is NOISY. Either blame thin walls or loud rude people talking loud at all hours of the morning, unfortunately. Shower pressure and hot/cold is inconsistent. Be careful to not burn yourself. I assume this has to do with old plumbing system. Pro's: Walking distance to promenade, beach, restaurants and things to do. Comfortable beds, coffee maker in room, refrigerator and microwave were appreciated. There is a laundry room on site with a couple of washers and dryers. Came in handy we had to do laundry once. Reasonably priced. We enjoyed the WARM pool/hot tub. One end of the pool was kind of like a hot tub with jets and the pool was so WARM! It was very nice, although the pool area needs a little refresh as well. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and found it to be an incredible deal. If you can handle a bit of noise, not only from loud people but from the fact that you have streets on all sides of you being that you are in the middle of town, you will do ok. We stayed 3 nights.

"Great hotel for the price and location"
07/30/14 Lauren K Portland, Oregon, United States
Great location, great price, friendly staff, clean, dog-friendly. Yes, it might be a little worn, but on a budget, it was a great place to stay. Only two blocks from the beach, and right in the center of town, so you could walk everywhere. It has a pool, but we mainly came into town for one evening for a beach campfire and sunset. I would stay there again.
