Hotel is not on the beach, you must cross a busy street to access. There is a management company that is located across the street. You must check in and constantly go there to get toilet paper , towels. There are tons of extra fees for the rooms. This hotel is full of young guests. It seemed like spring break on the weekend. "Less Than anticipated"
Ad was misleading, it looked as though we would have an ocean "view" room. Instead we were on the very back of the property overlooking a bog or small swamp that was overgrown with brush . There was an overflowing trash can full of garbage with some falling to the floor that remained in front of the elevators on our floor that remained there for 2 days […] until we said something to the person at the front desk. The rates were decent when we found them online. We expected what we were paying for was similar to the photos and ocean front like it displayed. That was a bit confusing. We had a nice room with a great view, but between the check in and check out process it was a nightmare. The check in and check out times we were given from hotels.com were wrong. We had to wait an extra 3 hours before we could check in and once we finally were able to check in we had to provide a detailed list of every single thing in the room that […] we would be held accountable for if it was broken or went missing. So after our 18 hour car ride and 3 hour wait time to get into the room that was quite enjoyable. There was also an extra $225 fee we had to pay when we checked in that we had no knowledge of. Hotels.com said there would be free wifi. Nope. Only available on the first four floors apparently. We had issues with the toilets and sink and it took over a day for someone to come fix it for us. The check out process took over an hour and they tried to charge us for so many things that were not our fault. Do not stay here if you are young because the management will only try and take advantage of you. I know we are college students but there is no excuse for how poorly we were treated the entire week. I would first like to note that all staff directly (and specifically) connected with the ORIGIN BEACH RESORT exclusively, was excellent. I would give THEM 5 stars if I could. The Origin Beach Resort is managed under 2 separate entities, one of which being The Origin Beach Resort, and the other being Seahaven, who's office is located directly across […] the street from the Origins Resort. I would STRONGLY recommend that anyone booking this hotel through Expedia made sure that they were booking directly through the Origins Beach Resort and not through Seahaven Management. Seahaven provides their clients with a checklist (legal sized paper, printed on both sides) consisting of a "Pre-Check In" walk through that is required to be filled out and returned within the hour upon check in. This list is near impossible to accurately complete, as the exact same list is issued regardless of the unit / amenities being rented. I spend 20 minutes looking for an alarm clock that was not even provided with the room. Who has time for this, and furthermore, shouldn't the hotel be doing this for their guests PRIOR to their arrival? It is YOUR responsibility to figure out which items do or do not belong in your room. There was a $450.00 deposit on the room due to Spring Break. I was there on business and found out LATER that they should not have charged me the deposit in the first place (and didn't have to). Seahaven's security was rude and invasive. I was extremely disappointed with my stay at Origin at Seahaven. The Origin at Seahaven is marked as a three and an half star hotel, but clearly it is not. Three and an half star hotels have amenities such as business centers, restaurants, room service, lounges/bars, and routine housekeeping. This hotel has none of these amenities. The check-in for the Origin at Seahaven is not in the hotel, but you will not know until walk into the hotel, and front desk agent, for other company, tells you to go across the highway to check-in. It is beyond confusing. If you are an individual that requires internet for personal use or business this is “NOT” the place for you; the WI-FI is horrible. The company that is responsible for the hotel has no clue what the company across the street is use for their wireless network connection. The company across the highway uses one wireless network connection that is very weak and becomes disconnected every few minutes. The wireless network connection is even worse for the company that actually manages the hotel. Also, in order to utilize a luggage cart you must leave an ID card. This was a little strange to me, but I accepted their rule, and gave the front agent desk my ID card. Ironically, the next morning, I saw an associate of the hotel using a luggage cart as dolly to carry maintenance supplies. I will definitely NOT be returning back to this hotel. "Not really worth the price"
We booked this room for one night after a last-minute decision to the beach. We do not believe it was worth the price that we paid especially for the cleaning fee. When we booked in the front desk agent had no idea what he was doing and it took more than 20 minutes to check in. This is my first stay at The Origin at Seahaven. I was pleasantly surprised. This was a last minute reservation that I made for a girls weekend away. The room was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, close to Pier Park. For future stays, I will make sure that I request a beach view. We stay at Origin before Seahaven took over. The difference was night and day. They offer room service only when you ask for it although you pay for it. They hit you with this charge when you check in. This is an addition $113 ontop of your reservation fee that they don't tell you about. We upgraded to a beautiful view of the ocean, sunset, and Front Beach Rd. where fabulous fireworks popped off Friday and Saturday night at 8:15 pm.
