Fantastic hotel. Would definitely go back. Absolute luxury. Would recommend it 100% for people to go.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Upon arrival there was a power cut throughout most of Kilkenny. The staff were very apologetic, even though it was something beyond their control. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful when power did resume. The hotel is spotless and the food is great. Definitely will be back :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent service. All the staff were friendly, efficient and obliging. Was at the Lyrath for a family wedding and the setting was absolutely perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will be returning for longer next time"
Loved this hotel. Staff were all so helpful and pleasant. There was so much available for myself and my 7 yr old son within the hotel. We were only staying one night but both agreed we'd be returning for a longer stay next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My mum and I stayed for one night, room was great and really comfy and very well equipped. The spa was gorgeous, we had two treatments each and used the hydrotherapy pool. I plan to visit again soon, with my husband and son. Would definitely recommend the lyrath, great hotel, great room, great food and great service.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Lovely Lyrath"
We enjoyed our stay in the Lyrath Estate hotel on 9th March 2013. The breakfast is top class.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel itself is spotless, staff friendly and helpful. The grounds of the hotel are fantastic for a walk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel was fantastic, even though it was extremely busy they were well enough staffed to handle it and were all very pleasant to deal with,it was a nice relaxing easy going weekend, the only down side was the set menu's in the restaurants and the unwillingness to modify any dishes, very little choice for ceoliac and non meat eaters.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very relaxing. Friendly staff. Excellent food. Afternoon tea is a must. would love to go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel overall."
Only fault was that they seemed to forget about us on the second day. We stayed two nights. We weren't on the breakfast list, and room service didn't come to change sheets or do a turn turn on our second day, and they didn't seem to have record of us when we checked out. In relation to the room cleaning, we could rang reception to request it, but by […] the time we realised they'd we been forgotten about, it was already late into the evening and we winding down. Otherwise, we had a great stay and can't really fault the place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lyrath estate weekend"
Hotel was very good although signs of exterior deterioration . Food and drink very expensive (more than 8 euros for a glass of wine)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The surrounding countryside, the service, the accommodation and the wedding reception hosted by you. Excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lyrath, wonderful experience"
From arrival everything about Lyrath is very impressive! Staff at reception were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a good sized deluxe room which overlooked the gardens, everything you would need for a relaxing break. Leisure facilities great. Good choice of restaurants. Breakfast superb!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Probably the only hotel I have stayed in where I have no complaints. The food was excellent, the service non-intrusive but ever-present, decor and cleanliness superb, and the building's architecture outstanding. Everything worked in the room (unfortunately this cannot always be taken for granted, even in a 5-star establishment). A positive experience […] all round. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Our only sink was blocked, I did not want to interrupt our wedding party activities with getting it sorted out. We felt it should have been sorted before our arrival.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Umgebauter Adels- Landsitz"
Genuine Expedia guest review
"Miserable night in Lyrath"
03/25/15 335Mary Dublin, Ireland
The bedroom in the hotel was so cold, we had to go to bed to keep warm. We complained to reception. A young gentle and came to the room and couldn't sort out the problem. He then offered us an alternative room. On asking him what the tempretature was in alternate room he said it was also 17 degrees. We spoke to a duty manager the following morning who went on the defensive and said irish people like their bedrooms cold. She was most unhelpful and also cold! Won't be going back anytime soon. Probably unfortunate in the people we met.
"Really lovely hotel"
Had a lovely stay in this hotel. The meal was fabulous. The staff were amazing. So friendly. Our waiter was brilliant. I cannot say enough good things about lyrath estate. The only bad thing was that I was only there one night. Will definitely be back!
We had our wedding reception at this hotel and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff were so professional and service was second to none. Brilliant location for photos and the food was excellent. We were so well looked after from the day of booking to the day of checkout. Defiantly recommend. A1 service
"Not a 5* experience"
03/22/15 morck_11 Dublin, Ireland
We stayed in the Lyrath last weekend - 2 adults and 2 children. It was coming up to St Patricks Day and it was also Mother's Day. We checked in around 12.45 but our room wasn't ready. No problem - we would sit in the bar and relax with a coffee. No - not possible. The bar was booked solid with a list of names ahead of us to even get a table. Back out to the lobby - which was cold and full of mothers being wheeled out for Mother's Day, wedding guests from the previous night checking out and guests like us waiting for their room to be ready. Luggage everywhere. Eventually we got a seat in the White Room Afternoon Tea area and waited it out. Our room was eventually ready and Deirdre from reception came to find us to let us know. She was excellent and a real asset to the hotel. Efficient yet friendly. Our room was lovely - we had booked an Executive Room and it had doors out into the garden which our children loved. The complimentary wine and chocolates were a bit disappointing - the wine wasn't a full size bottle and there were two small chocolates in a box between four of us. We had four bathrobes - the kid sized ones were super! However my husband's robe was tiny and wouldn't even wrap around him. We asked for a larger size but there were none available. The children's beds weren't in the room and the two guys from housekeeping who came to set them up were lovely. Checked what age the kids were and whether we wanted full sized beds or campbeds. We spent an hour in the Games Room which was great fun - helped out by the wonderful Jessica, we headed to the pool. It was tiny and absolutely packed. There was no way anyone could actually swim in it - there wasn't a square inch of unoccupied space. The wifi was a bit patchy - both in the room and public areas. We ended up eating in the Asian Restaurant that night. We would have preferred to eat in the bar but again there was no guarantee of getting a table, they wouldn't allow us book and last orders were by 6.55pm! All a bit mad. Breakfast the next morning was gorgeous - we were down at 9am and avoided the queues. The maitre'd (french - Lucas?) was wonderful - so friendly and good natured. He even gave my 7 year old daughter a flower leaving the restaurant. However all in all I was disappointed by the hotel. I don't feel it was a 5* hotel experience. The staff were so helpful and friendly - and the potential for greatness is there. But if you are offering a 5* experience and charging for it don't let the little things let you down - unfortunately for Lyrath this is the case.

My brother got a gift for my mum and I to have the best spa experience . We got more than we ever expected. the spa was amazing and the staff were exceptional. They were attentive and so polite. We will certainly be back. Josephine served us afternoon tea and could not have been nicer. I have been at spa's in New York and did not get services as good as Lyrath I will be recommending this hotel to anyone visiting Kilkenny. Keep up the good work. Philomena Saunders
"Five Star and Five Stars"
03/20/15 Noel S Kilkenny, Ireland
Having booked a spa treatment and afternoon tea treat for my Mother and sister I was somewhat apprehensive that everything would be to their liking. I needn't have worried. The total Lyrath experience was outstanding, underpinned by truly excellent service. On this occasion my five stars were, the charming pairing of Carloline and Brenda of the Oasis Spa, the very delightful Josephine who delivered tea with a smile, a very youthful Tom with such a warm greeting on arrival, and finally Lieke whose professionalism belied her relative youth. Great businesses, especially in hospitality, often are the sum of their (personnel) parts and this special quintet have surely 'done their business proud'. Well done! And, thank you all for making our afternoon one to remember and creating a memory to cherish. Noel, Kilkenny
"Really uncomfortable beds"
03/17/15 NettyIre Dublin, Ireland
So when you travel as much as we do the one thing you want on your night away is a good nights sleep. The room we stayed in was amazing. The hotel, grounds, bar and staff were all fabulous. So imagine how disappointed we were when we had a great night out with friends, lovely dinner and then got into the most uncomfortable bed ever. What was even more disappointing was receiving the managers business card to call him if we ever went back again so he would sort us out instead of making an effort on our departure to ensure our future business! I loved this hotel and would have been really interested in coming back but I'm not sure I'd risk losing another nights sleep. P.S. Breakfast and the spa were also really good.
"Awful - should have stayed at home 3 star NOT 5"
03/17/15 Badagen Cavan, Ireland
I wish that we had stayed at home rather than waste our hard earned money going to this place. It is in receivership, you will see that prominently placed on till receipts. We went there for a weekend with two B&B and one evening meal. Food in Tuppers bar was adequate, not special but not bad for bar food. Breakfast was good on the first morning. Afternoon tea was poor, asked the young girl Luisa for the tea list and she started to explain what the Afternoon Tea menu was, explained that I was looking for a beverage menu to see which teas they had and she looked at me as if I was from outer space before proceeding to explain that they had tea, coffee or prosecco. I tried to gently explain what I was looking for and she went off to get a tea box which contained their speciality teas, I decided to leave it because she was completely lost but not so list as to be ignorant enough to get caught rolling her eyes to her colleague. With the exception of her, most staff were quite polite and helpful despite it appearing that they are understaffed, under pressure and having very little job security. The place had no atmosphere whatsoever, it was dead. It is badly in need of a serious overhaul, a deep clean, a repaint and a lot of maintenance work. The included meal in La Perla restaurant was awful from start to finish, the only redeeming feature was the polite serving staff. By the way, you know your meal is crap when the staff are agreeing with you about your complaint. Breakfast on final morning was like a donnybrook, way understaffed and ill equipped to deal with the large numbers looking for breakfast in the same 45 minute slot leading to absolute mayhem, long queues and squealing babies. Top all of that with nearly breaking your neck on wire lead running across the floor on the way in to the restaurant and you have a flavour of what this place is like. It's a shame really as it is a beautiful spot but it is entirely lacking in atmosphere and feel. It was our second time in Kilkenny having stayed at the Pembroke Hotel in the City previously, we wish that we had stayed there again but we were attracted to the advertised 5 star luxury. We were duped.
"Nice hotel - but much closer to 4 star. A lot of kids!"
03/17/15 tripbugs Dublin
Stayed here as a couple for one night, was a Sunday night and very very busy when we arrived. There was music in the lobby which made the whole check in a bit crazy. Our room was nice but not amazing - tv was quite old fashioned and no mini-bar or fridge. Lobby and Tuppers bar were really busy with lots of kids so tried to go to X bar- but was booked for private function. Ended up going to Kilkenny for some peace! Was not what I had pictured when I booked. Later we tried to go to pool and again was thronged with kids. We ate in La Perla restaurant and it was ok - nothing special. And expensive at €45 a head. Tuppers bar had stopped serving food at 7pm. The desserts were very poor and had no presentation. Slab of Cheesecake just came out on a plate with nothing els. Steak was good and staff were lovely. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Staff were generally lovely. Would go again with children but not as a couple.

another trip to the Lyrath and it's as good as ever. Started off with a few drinks in the X Bar and was very impressed with Pedro who remembered me from my wedding the previous July. The bar was very busy as there was a rugby game on but the service was as good as ever Finished the night with a meal at La Perla which was top class and then retired to Tuppers for a few night caps. I WILL BE BACK :)
