"Will be returning for longer next time"
Loved this hotel. Staff were all so helpful and pleasant. There was so much available for myself and my 7 yr old son within the hotel. We were only staying one night but both agreed we'd be returning for a longer stay next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My mum and I stayed for one night, room was great and really comfy and very well equipped. The spa was gorgeous, we had two treatments each and used the hydrotherapy pool. I plan to visit again soon, with my husband and son. Would definitely recommend the lyrath, great hotel, great room, great food and great service.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Lovely Lyrath"
We enjoyed our stay in the Lyrath Estate hotel on 9th March 2013. The breakfast is top class.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel itself is spotless, staff friendly and helpful. The grounds of the hotel are fantastic for a walk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel was fantastic, even though it was extremely busy they were well enough staffed to handle it and were all very pleasant to deal with,it was a nice relaxing easy going weekend, the only down side was the set menu's in the restaurants and the unwillingness to modify any dishes, very little choice for ceoliac and non meat eaters.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very relaxing. Friendly staff. Excellent food. Afternoon tea is a must. would love to go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel overall."
Only fault was that they seemed to forget about us on the second day. We stayed two nights. We weren't on the breakfast list, and room service didn't come to change sheets or do a turn turn on our second day, and they didn't seem to have record of us when we checked out. In relation to the room cleaning, we could rang reception to request it, but by […] the time we realised they'd we been forgotten about, it was already late into the evening and we winding down. Otherwise, we had a great stay and can't really fault the place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lyrath estate weekend"
Hotel was very good although signs of exterior deterioration . Food and drink very expensive (more than 8 euros for a glass of wine)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The surrounding countryside, the service, the accommodation and the wedding reception hosted by you. Excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lyrath, wonderful experience"
From arrival everything about Lyrath is very impressive! Staff at reception were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a good sized deluxe room which overlooked the gardens, everything you would need for a relaxing break. Leisure facilities great. Good choice of restaurants. Breakfast superb!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Probably the only hotel I have stayed in where I have no complaints. The food was excellent, the service non-intrusive but ever-present, decor and cleanliness superb, and the building's architecture outstanding. Everything worked in the room (unfortunately this cannot always be taken for granted, even in a 5-star establishment). A positive experience […] all round. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Plesant hotel a few miles outside of Kilkenny"
The hotel is a little isolated but for a quite week end quite ideal although they probably could make more use of their grounds. Food was excellent and staff very pleasant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would have proffered to stay in town"
Nice hotel but too far from town. Breakfast was great. Pool was very busy. They had an awful cheesy musician playing at the bar upstairs which was played on the sound system throughout the other bars & lobby of the hotel which created a horrible atmosphere when we got back in the evening. Kilkenny is a great town, book your restaurant well in advance, […] most of the well recommended ones were booked up when we called them at approx 6pm. Check out St Francis Abbey Brewery :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Umgebauter Adels- Landsitz"
Genuine Expedia guest review
"Definately not a 5 star hotel"
12/23/14 catherine m Cork, Ireland
Went on a one night break here with my sister and I have to say it was the most disappointing hotel break I have had in years. The room itself was very standard which was fine but the toliet was so dark and small. We went to the bar for a glass of wine and I have to say the bar staff were totally disinterested in their job. All the tables in the lobby were left covered in used glasses for hours. No one seemed interested in tidying up at all. I decided to order a coctail for myself and all I can say is dont bother. It took ages to make it and when it arrived they had not even mixed it, just poured to straight into a glass. Only one small restaurent was opened upstairs for dinner and the waiter there got annoyed with us when we did not order wine with the dinner. I tried to book a treatment in the spa only to be told with no apology that none were available. To be completely honest it was a relief to be checking out the next day. I would not even rate this place as a two star hotel and would definately recommend that you dont waste your money staying here.

I booked a mid-week trip to treat my mother, whom I put in an executive suite and I stayed in a deluxe bedroom, and we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The grounds of Lyrath estate are beautiful as you drive up to reception and the lobby has an unusual look to it and a laid-back atmosphere with a lovely relaxing area to chill out and have a drink by the fire. The rooms were top notch- LCD tv, heated underfloor in bathroom, comfy beds, warm- plus 24 hour room service, what more could you possibly ask for. We had dinner in Tuppers bar, the food was very tasty and the service prompt and friendly. This 5 Star hotel has that balance between too little and too much attention spot on. You are left to enjoy your meal but if you want anything the staff will help you straight away. My highest praise though goes to the front-of-house reception staff. The girl on duty Thursday 18th Dec (think it was Sarah or Sandra) was extremely helpful and professional and welcoming, just what you want when checking in. She gave us details on the bar, facilities etc and was most friendly. Same with check out, it just topped off the lovely break we had and I will definitely be back again next year. Also, all staff we encountered were very approachable and friendly. Plus specials mid-week are very reasonable. Keep it up people!
"Lovely hotel, need a better booking system"
12/20/14 Amanda F
Myself and my mam stayed in the lyrath for one night on a voucher we received. Upon booking, we were told we must stay within 30days of the booking in order to use the voucher, that didn't bother us, however a little inconvenient. They requested we send the voucher number by email, which we did the following day, a few days later we received a very rude email requesting the voucher number be sent immediately, then a further email a couple of hours later advising receipt of the voucher number. We replied to the second email advising we had sent it and received an email demanding the voucher number which was not acceptable, we did not receive a reply. On arrival, we confirmed with the lady on reception that she had the voucher information. The room was lovely, the staff while staying were very pleasant. We used the spa suite, although there was a further charge of €15 for that use, it really should have been included in the price of the nights stay and not an extra charge, however we had researched it and were aware of the charge. We ordered room service, just sandwiches and soup. The soup delicious, the sandwiches were disgusting, dry with a rocket thrown on the side as a salad and extremely over priced. The next morning, we had a delicious breakfast, the array was amazing, so much to choose from and the staff serving were very accomadating. When we checked out, we handed in the keys and checked out with the same lady we checked in with, all was fine. Halfway to the car in the car park the same lady ran out to us, advising us, loudly, I may add, that there was an outstanding bill of €200 on the room. We paid for any extras up front, in cash, such as room service so couldn't understand how we could owe anything. She continued to explain the outstanding bill was for the nights stay and as we did not put a credit card on file at check in, it must be settled now. We once again had to explain the room was paid on a voucher, which we had already told her and emailed pre-arrival about. She advised it wasn't on the system. We gave her the email address we sent to them which included the number and explained this had been made clear already. Needless to say, this was an extremely embarrassing situation and we were lucky we didn't put a credit card on the system but paid for extras as we got them, otherwise we would have been charged a second time for the room. Overall a lovely hotel, breakfast delicious but room service food disgusting and as for check in and check out, well, we won't be returning because of the embarrassing scene caused, huge downfall for this hotel.
"Lovely place to stay"

I spent a night in this lovely hotel last weekend. The spacious bar and foyer (with a nice warm fire set for Winter) and the excellent choice of food and drink made for a very enjoyable stay. The Thai restaurant just above reception was particularly good. The room itself was spacious with some nice touches like the marble finishings in the bathroom, grooming kit, lotions, shoe sponge, complimentary bottled water etc. Most importantly there a very comfortable bed and an extremely effective air con/heating system. The views onto the surrounding estate made it all very pleasant. The breakfast was superb with freshly cooked hot food, breads, cereals, pancakes and friendly staff to assist. Refreshingly the Lyrath Estate Hotel provides five star quality whilst not being overly stuffy and pretentious like some other establishments. Unlike a previous reviewer, I welcomed the fact that it is a family friendly hotel and was happy to see children enjoying their time there. Not just for typical business-types and couples, families deserve five star breaks too and with the pool and friendly atmosphere, this hotel comes highly recommended.

Just returned from another fantastic stay at Lyrath, and as always the staff do not disappoint as they would cater to any of your requests. Rooms are spacious and cozy , grounds are beautifully maintained and food is delicious especially the breakfast. A big thank you to Iona and Pat for making this another wonderful stay at Lyrath and look forward to staying again in 2015.
"Kids kids everywhere!!"
We are here at the moment & it is like a playground for 1-4 year olds! They are running riot & we have moved from bar to reception, don't get me wrong I have no problem with children here but they are allowed run wild!
"Top notch staff"

Just came back from a weekend away at the Lyrath Estate Hotel with my sister. We had decided to treat ourselves to a little break away before the Christmas madness starts and we couldn't have picked a better spot. But for me, the staff especially stood out. All the staff I came into contact with could not have been more helpful and friendly. The room we had was lovely with a great view of the grounds. We had all of our meals at the hotel and they were all delicious. Well worth a stay.
"Very Good Value."

Stayed here one night mid-week in December. Great value - €102 for two persons sharing, including breakfast. And what a breakfast.... plenty of everything, full Irish, fresh fruit juices, excellent homemade bread and really top class helpful staff. This is a five star establishment and deservedly so. We would have given the hotel the full 5 rating except- the swimming pool was closed from 12noon to 4pm which was the time that would have suited us, and others, no doubt. But apart from that, it is really an excellent Hotel, lovely walks in the grounds and friendly attentive staff.

I stayed here with my 3 sisters for one night my sister won it in a competition on the way up we received a phone call to ask would we mind being upgraded to the penthouse we were over the moon the staff were so nice the hotel spotless clean and because there was a delay with our meal we got a complimentary drink I just thought 15euro to use the spa was a bit steep but overall we had a fantastic time and I would highly recommend this hotel oh and breakfast was delicious :)
"really good spot to relax"

Stayed in the Lyrath mid November , it was quite enough as it was Monday /Tuesday stay but no complaints about that. Really friendly staff and the food as usual was very good. we used the Asian restaurant and the food was very enjoyable. The room was also well maintained, we had one issue with the room which was swiftly dealt with without any drama by the duty manager. One thing the hotel needs to look at particularly in November is turning on the heat or put th fires on in the bar area. I don't really feel the cold so much but in November I could feel it in th Bar. All in a great stay and we will go back. Enjoy
