The hotel was beautiful. We stayed in a cozy king room, which for us was perfect. The bedroom's layout and design were right up our ally too. Would definitely recommend this hotel. The only things were that they seem to charge you for just about anything, and check in is on the second floor. Definitely got lost at first.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, but out of control when bar closed."
Everything was great, except Friday night when the bar let out. It was loud on the floor and seemingly out of control outside.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great central location in Chicago"
Valet staff was exceptional- helpful polite and efficient. Desk staff was decent. Bed was comfortable, shower was nice but the layout was a bit awkard. Walls were so thin I could hear the maids talking and slamming doors as well as anytime someone got off the elevator we could hear. Loved the location - easy access to a lot that chicago offers.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad, but not worth the cost"
The hotel wasn't terrible by any stretch, but it certainly wasn't anything special. The rooms weren't very spacious (but not tiny). My wife and I picked this hotel specifically since we planned for a couple's massage, but the spa was completely booked. That was very disappointing. The room was very clean, and the bathroom was spacious. It was a little […] strange that there is a window from the shower directly into the main room. Yes, you can draw a curtain for shower privacy (or when using the toilet), but you can only draw the curtain from outside the bathroom. That being said, no real privacy guarantees if not staying alone. Each room comes with a very powerful stereo system designed to dock your iPod. The downside is that my neighbors woke me up with theirs at 2 AM. Security did take care of it after I complained, but not sure why that is needed with such thin walls. Also, the windows, like many Chicago hotels, are thin enough to let in all city noise, even 10 floors up. There are only 2 check in staff members, so expect a long check in. Also, there are only 3 elevators, and, at one point, the hotel was only allowing a private party to use one of them (even though 20 people were waiting for an elevator and the private party was not using theirs at all). It would be nice if in that party that you had an elevator instantly waiting for you, but everyone else wasn't real happy. The staff was nice overall - I just think I could do a lot better for the cost. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Unique and comfortable"
Awesome views. Great food. Great location. Unique and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Besides a slightly small room, which is very nice, and a long wait to check-in, this hotel was excellent. The location is fantastic and the restaurant is good. As mentioned in other reviews, it is a bit noisy because of the sirens, but definitely not a big concern for us.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Mod Concrete - Club Beat - Bathroom Peek"
We checked in late Friday until Monday. Centrally located in a mixed commercial/residential neighborhood blocks from transportation, complete food markets, chain restaurants and indie restaurants, CMA, Northwestern and shopping, Dana Hotel and Spa provides a nice stay but has some drawbacks. Check-in is located on the second level from street level […] entrance and it is a sit down experience as opposed to the traditional standing front desk. The hotel elevator was a bit difficult if you stand over 3'. To get to your desired floor, it is a room key activated elevator and the slot is at about knee level for an adult. We and others were along for arbitrary rides if we didn't get the card in the slot and select our floor in time. Rooms were nicely furnished with a modern industrial feel, exposed concrete walls and ceilings. . The bed is very comfortable and room amenities are decent. Depending upon your room, the bathroom is completely audible and visible to your +1 if you have one. The club beat music is something you may hear especially if there is a Friday and Saturday night in your stay. It pulses through the building's exposed concrete walls, elevator shaftways and corridors. Rooms are very clean - the service staff was fantastic in my experience. They cleaned very well. Minor hotel operational details are in order such as room to room sink drain maintenance, shower head maintenance for mineral build up and shower re-caulking. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, good for young couples."
Check in was a breeze and we had a fine room on the 7th floor. I requested a room away from Vertigo, the club in the top floor and when I heard music bumping I was surprised. I walked around the floor to realize that the music shaking my walls was from 2 rooms away. I hadn't yet inspected and looked over my room, but when I did I saw a LARGE mp3 music […] player in the room that really cranked. It was very nice to have that option, but if you are coming to the hotel with kids or people that might want to sleep early, be warned since other rooms have the ability to get loud. That all being said, in the evening it was not loud and we slept well. However, the walls are very thin and noise does happen. The bed was the most comfortable bed, too. Great staff, great location, I would go again. I got this room to celebrate my wife's 40th and she said it was the best downtown Chicago hotel we've been to. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Loved it and will be backGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel seems to like young people and celebrities. If you are over 40, and not rich or famous, this may not be the place for you. Stuff didn't seem to care, aloof, didn't answer questions. Room was very odd with no window, just a little door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A nightclub with rooms"
If you are visiting Chicago solely for some kind of Vegas-style party bender, this might just be the perfect spot. Not so perfect if you need a restful night's sleep and a respectable atmosphere in which to entertain clients and associates. The Vertigo Sky Lounge on the roof (25th Flr) seems to be this property's main focus, and is a very lively party […] spot late into the night. The deep thumping bass is transmitted to the lower floors by the very structure of the building itself, and the party seems to extend into hallways, elevators and guest rooms. Thin walls and floors so you hear everything. Rooms are all windows from floor to ceiling, which at first seems like it could be a cool feature, but then you realize that if you want privacy from the opposing buildings you must manually lower an endless series of quasi-functional roller shades. Also, the building's ill-conceived design functions to actually transfer cold from exterior to interior, so if you're visiting in wintertime you must keep the heat blasting constantly which makes for a dry and uncomfortable environment inside. On a more positive note, the food prepared by the restaurant on site was actually quite good! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Clean but needs some work"
stayed there for 2 nights on a work trip. check in was fine, but no room ready early. oh well. room was clean. too much clutter all over the room -- don't really need a 4-pack of red bull on a work trip, but thanks for the offer. Sheets were clean. Towels were nice, thick and clean. My shower door leaked water all over my bathroom because it would not […] close completely. The rainshower showerhead may be for some people but what do we do when we are not washing our hair? The hand-held shower could not be used as an alternative on the wall -- so i would give their shower experience a one or a two rating. Lastly I was there during the winter and there was a terrible draft from the balcony door. Not the worst hotel experience, but probably not worth the money it cost me to stay there for 2 nights due to the draft in the room and the unfortunate shower design. Great location and close to shopping and other stuff. My biggest enjoyment was how close it is to whole foods! Might stay there again, but probably not. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was clean and modern. The entrance to Lobby is on the second floor which is awkward and a very strange entrance from street. The room was very pleasing to the eye. Our mattress was heavenly!!! I enjoyed the stay and out view of the city.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location great staff"
This is beautiful hotel right in the Gold coast. Easy walking distance to redline "L" . I took the orange line from Midway, switched at Roosevelt and got off at Grand Street. The hotel was just a few blocks away and the cost of travel from Midway was only $3! I was greeted at the door by Christian and CJ who were quick to great me and offer as stance. […] Next to the reception desk where Jess checked me in. She was very friendly and helpful. She offered me the choice of north facing room or south. I chose north facing room1116. This is a beautiful corner room with great views of the city. I arrived early and my husband arrived later. His experience was as great as mine. Our room really looked like the pics on the website. My husband and I were there for 6 days. Each evening Caesar was at the door with a smile and friendly remark. I also would recommend the Freestyle restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. Nice location, walking distance to Magnificent mile shopping. Hotel room was as described - clean and modern feel. Love the rain shower. The only thing I miss is the paid movie channels. "Chic stay in the city"
This hotel was a wonderful surprise from start to finish! From the minute you arrive, Dana Hotel staff greet you warmly -- and they don't just seem to be going through the motions. You feel genuinely cared for as a guest in this hotel. The hotel is chic and beautiful with an excellent central location in the city. The rooms have everything you need, […] including an outstanding view (I was on the 21st floor). The spa is small but the staff is expert and friendly. I felt very relaxed and enjoyed my stay there. The hotel's staff was friendly and efficient. The room was a bit small but very comfortable. I really enjoyed stepping out onto the balcony for some fresh air. The location of the restaurant was excellent for our purposes. It was near the shops on the Mag Mile and the restaurants and nightlife in River North. "Service was Lacking"
The front desk and concierge were horrible. I’m not sure that the concierge even knew anything about Chicago. The front desk was rude and very slow to respond to requests. The doorman and bellhops were wonderful; they were extremely polite and helpful. The room was small, but I don’t go to Chicago to sit inside my hotel room so the room size over doesn't […] matter too much to me. The most disappointing thing was the shower. The pictures make it appear to be a large walk-in shower; that is not the case at all. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"exceeded high expectation"
It started out great with a complimentary upgrade to a room with sweeping views of the Chicago skyline. The hotel is beautiful and exceeded our expectation for service and surroundings. this hotel is chic. industial design is modern and clean. bed is so comfortable. staff here was all exceptional, especially the bellman who directed us to a good restaurant and hailed us a cab at a very busy time. wish we could have tried the spa and vertigo but that will be for next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Relaxing, modern, city views, great neighborhood"
This hotel delivers what you expect and more. It reminded me of the W Hotels and the Hudson or Empire Hotels in New York (Columbus Circle) in that it was where all the young people stay and can party, but the rooms were serene, rejuvenating, and spacious so you can also relax there. I didn't try the spa, but it seemed like a good one. It's located on […] a good street, more quiet and neighborhood-ish but just off the main tourist areas. Highly recommend it and would stay again (make it my go-to place). The room service was fast and hot, but pretty ordinary (kind of a let down considering the caliber of everything else in the hotel), and the elevators smelled like bad cleaning chemicals, which took away from the "spa" feel (you'd think they would know better). Overall, great hotel for the price (we paid about $310/ night deal on Hotels.com). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife and I got away for a weekend, and the hotel was everything we were looking for.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location in terms of places to be in the city. Close and easy to walk everywhere. It has a pretty loud bar up top, but we were on the 15th floor so couldn't hear it in our room. I heard that you want to stay at least five floors below the bar, which would mean below the 20th floor. We didn't go up there because it didn't look like our type of […] crowd (20's crowd maybe) but plenty of other places to go. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Noisy and very small room"
The view from our hotel was ok and the shower was nice. However, the ice was on the 5th floor and we were on the 21st floor. You couldn't go to the ground without going to lobby and taking another elevator down. You needed your room key to operate the elevator. Valet parking...expensive. The room was extremely small and the noise factor was disturbing. […] You could hear everything from the night club upstairs to the ambulances outside and the hotel guest banging on the door down the hall. I would not stay here again. "Good hotel. Loud night club."
We had a pretty good stay, great location. We had 4 rooms booked in our group. The 9th floor was great. The room on the 21st floor could hear the night club, but not too bad. The 2 rooms on the 25th floor right below the night club were not impressed. Very loud until 2 or 3 in morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel is overated!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you are looking for a hotel and spa experience this is NOT the place! I apparently read the description wrong because I thought the place would be more of a relaxing, inviting environment. We did not get any sleep until 4am. The elevators and people coming and going was so loud. You can hear everyone getting off the elevator and talking all the way […] to their rooms. There is really no room that doesn't have that noise issue since our second room wasn't much better. The next morning I requested to be moved which they did do after I pleaded and told me I has to come back to check with them after noon which wasn't convenient. The next day I hers another couple skimg to be moved as well. We will never stay at this place again. If you like a loud hotel with a younger crowd and a rooftop bar with only that crowd then this is your place. Not what we had imagined for our anniversary weekend. We are exhausted from no sleep. Also one 2 inch bar of soap is not enough. You need a bath bar and a bar for washing hands. Both rooms only had one small bar of soap. Irritating and soap is cheap, come on! I can't believe we paid that much money for an awful stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
