"Geschenk - Übernachtung"
Der Hotelaufenthalt war ein Geburtstagsgeschenk von Freunden an einen Freund zusammen mit einem Opernbesuch. Das Hotel hat offensichtlich begeistert was Komfort u. Service betrifft.

"An falscher Stelle gespart"
"A fabulous hotel"

This is a very luxurious and yet friendly and warm hotel. We checked in after a flight from the U.S. and were treated with great hospitality, offered coffee, sodas, and snacks while our room was readied. The room was really nice, with a free coffee maker and sodas and water. It was very nice. All the employees were very gracious and the service was just right. It's an expensive hotel, but you get your money's worth here. And a special thanks to the front desk manager, Alexander, who went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and everything was ok with our stay. It was a great experience.
"Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at"
09/27/14 albymac Miami Beach, Florida
The staff is overwhelmingly polite and when you leave you think you are leaving friends. That includes the front desk, the personal assistants, even the engineers. If it is booked delay your trip to stay here please.. It is worth the time the energy and every nickel. Truly perfect, the most accommodating hotel you can imagine. It is like you have a personal assistant. Plus the food is delicious.
"old fashioned grand hotel in town center"
09/02/14 Peter C Newport Beach, California
Located in the middle of the town, relatively small personal hotel. PRO: location, very quiet, helpful stuff, lots of gimmicks like climate control from your bed, opening curtain from bed, etc. CONS: the concierge room (which you pass on the way to your room) has only little variety of drinks and coffee and snacks
"As good as expected"

Stayed here one night in August, and couldn't be more satisfied. Reasonably priced for the quality of room and location. Staff efficient and attentive, rooms and communal areas clean and comfortable. Would return.
"Best hotel in Dusseldorf"
Very nice hotel. You will touch the service since you step out of your car. Everyone smile and thats the best part. The rooms are big compared with other hotels in the area and so clean. I highly recommand this hotel.
"Perfect if you want to be downtown"

It s what you expect when you stay downtown. The hotel has a perfect location. Every thing you want to do in Dusseldorf is near the hotel. Welcome and service are perfect. Nothing to say. If you travel with a dog (as we do), just plan to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner outside.
"Stellar service, lovely rooms"

Where to start? Our 3 day 2 night adventure in this hotel was surreal. Deciding which hotel to stay in in Dusseldorf was a bit difficult - closer to Espirit Arena, or a 5 star with Amex FHR upgrades? We chose the latter, and ended up at the Breidenbacher Hof - 2 of the last 3 nights of a 23 day European adventure, a nice large room would suit us well. We arrive mid afternoon to throngs of people standing in front of the hotel - oh great, how are we going to check in? Go around the block once, then double park in front of the hotel, and work our way through the crowd, waiving our reservation paperwork....immediately 2 valets come out to get our luggage, park our car, and escort us through the crowd. Once inside, we are welcomed by exceptional service - "All of our guests are VIPs" We get the Amex upgrades - upgraded room, late check out, $85 hotel credit (and mind you the room was only 250 Euros per night (plus 35 per night parking plus 30 for breakfast)- much less than the other 4-5 star hotels we had stayed in earlier in our trip). We rarely left the hotel - most of our time divided between Brasserie 1806 and the Capella bar - and the adjacent cigar lounge. Service throughout the hotel was superb - the one poor bartender working the night of June 19 deserves stellar praise - the place was packed, yet we still received our drinks quickly- how he kept track of who was charging what to which account I will never know! As mentioned in other reviews, the private spaces for hotel guests were an oasis - complimentary espresso, water, soft drinks, fruit....games, newspapers, library...terribly civilized not to be nickel and dimed for everything! Location was perfect - just steps away from the UBahn (which deserves it's own review - best crowd management I've ever seen in public transportation) The room itself was lovely - large and well appointed. Nice touch that we hadn't seen in other hotels - a toothbrush holder! We did have an issue with room service the day we left - we were supposed to have it at 9:30, no luck, called down, oh it will be there soon, called again - eventually received it at noon - they said we would have it comped, but at check-out they said that due to the Amex package, they could not remove the 30 Euro charge - oh well.

I've stayed at several five star hotels in my life, but I have to say this one is right at the top. We were only there one night due to a layover on a return flight home, but if I'm ever in Dusseldorf and still have the budget, I wouldn't consider anywhere else. It is convenient to Old Town with all the shopping and restaurants. And the room is extremely well appointed and maintained. The staff was simply outstanding. The young man that greeted us by name as we approached the desk (the bellman outside had a wireless to announce our arrival to him), took us to the room and explained all the features of the room - there were many. Later that evening we ate in the lounge area - our luggage was checked through to our final destination so we were stuck with what we traveled in, so we were uncomfortable with going to the main restaurant. We were assured it would be fine, but decided to stay with the young man that waited on us. He had been working there for a month or so, as I recall, and was extremely personable and helpful in menu selection. He came by frequently to check on us and stayed attentive from afar when we needed him for a question. In summary, I'd find it impossible to consider other locations on any future trips to Dusseldorf. As a matter of fact, because of this experience I'll look for Capella Hotels in other locations. The only other hotel chain I can say this about is Peninsula Hotels.

we stayed here for my husbands 50th on the 4th of march. great hotel where to start sheer luxury from the check in to private sitting room with your own PA nothing is to much trouble, The Bedrooms are really nice and this hotel is easily in the top 3 hotels i've ever stayed in. the location couldn't be better for the altstadt and the main shopping areas. as dusseldorf is one the best cities in germany for shopping and nightlife. Go and see how life should be lived.
"Great hotel, some minor issues"
07/21/14 GPS001 Limassol, Cyprus
It is definitively a great hotel: great lobby, excellent valet parking service, always greeted by name, beautiful bar, excellent secluded area for guests to sit, talk and meet, excellent breakfast, superb location. In all, a sure choice. So, let's go to the minor issues which need to be fixed: 1. Internet charges: a repeat for years: a hotel costing 400+ euro a night should never charge for Internet. Yes, there is a free plan available, but too slow to be workable 2. Reservation: I sent a mail to ask prices for a room, was replied, sent a confirmation, and never got a reply back. Reason (I found out after many mails and several calls): the person I was corresponding with had gone on leave..... 3. Brasserie 1806: it was great for breakfast, and good for dinner. But: when sitting at dinner, I was presented with a cart of champagne and offered a specific bottle: I accepted, only to find out at the moment of the bill that it was 50 euro per glass...... Going to such hotels means I can afford it, but I found the way it happened a bit unpleasant The above would not refrain me to go back to the hotel, but for such hotels perfection is a must.
