Staying at the Rim was a real treat after our 3day Hilltribe, sort of roughing it tour!! The people were so nice and to walk into our beautiful, clean room with the sunken tub an stained glass windows, my husband and I were in heaven. Definitely worth the money.

The old city looked good on the map, but it is also tourist and backpacker central. The location of the Opium is perfect: in a real neighborhood, yet reasonable walk or 60 baht tuktuk ride from everything. The open air lobby is lovely and the rooms comfortable. I really liked the mini-fridge to keep water (hotel provided) and drinks cold. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were good sources of information for "off the beaten path" experiences. Great local market 2 minute walk away, tons of Thai eateries near the hotel and the Spirit House down the street for Thai, fusion, or Western fare.

This is a great boutique hotel with pleasant grounds and nice rooms close by the old city and its attractions. Good price also. It is not directly located in the old city but accross the river. However this makes it a great place to go to at the end of the day to rest up after a day of asian city hustle bustle. I just cant say enough good things about this hotel! It made our trip to Chiang Mai one of the most memorable trips, I've ever had. The staff are excellent, the hotel is excellent and its close enough to the night markets that you can walk. Would recommend this to anyone you would be mad to miss it.

Een hotel op zo'n 15 minuten loopafstand van het historisch centrum en 7 minuten van de night bazaar. Het ligt aan de "verkeerde" kant van de rivier Ping, maar dat vonden wij eigenlijk een pluspunt. Het personeel is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam (wil een dag tevoren al een taxi regelen), kamer goed uitgerust, met zelfs mogelijkheid gratis films op […] dvd te gebruiken, uitstekend ontbijt. Klein maar afdoende zwembad met zo'n 20 ligstoelen en voor kinderen ook zwembanden en ballen. Op de begane grond geen uitzicht van hotelkamer (maar waarom zou je dat willen?), over hogere verdieping kan ik geen uitspraak doen, maar de buurt is niet erg bezienswaardig. Overigens uitstekende supermarkt om de hoek. Het ontbijt is zowel Thais (rijst met wokgroenten en vlees/vis) als Europees (toast, ei, marmelade, cake, joghurt, vers fruit...). Andere maaltijden en de bar hebben wij niet gebruikt. Bij een volgend verblijf in Chiang Mai komen wij zeker naar dit hotel terug. Read more

Wir verbrachten im Juni 2010 eine Woche in Chiang Mai im Rimping Village. Es war eine sehr gute Wahl. Etwas abseits des Zentrums ist es ein sehr nettes Hotel, mit großem Pool und sehr freundlichem und aufmerksamen Personal. Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und die gesamte Woche über betreut.
