Needs MAJOR curb appeal. The outside of the hotel looks absolutely disgusting, I almost left without going to my room. The staff in the office was not very welcoming, just there to check people in and take money, nothing else. The room itself was FABULOUS. Everything was beautiful and spacious. The hotel was clean and up to date. The staff was accomodating when we arrived after hours due to flight delays. We didn't see any bugs in the room even though it was late April. Great view, clean pool. The only negative was that kitchen was not well stocked.

Things that went wrong: 1. Booked a 3 bedroom suite and recieved a 2 bedroom suite without any redress. 2. This turned into my elderly mother sleeping with my 8y/o daughter on a pull out couch. 3. Arrived before check-in with 8 year old who had to go to the bathroom but they wouldn't allow us to use our room or their BR. 4. Supposedly a full kitchen […] only it did not include a spatula, dish soap, or dish washer soap. 5. Bedroom tv did not work and wifi connection failed. 6. When I discovered the room was not what I reserved, I returned to the office to find a note on the door stating "back in 10 min". 30 min later I was still standing out in the wind and rain. 7. Left my necklace on the bathroom counter when we checked out, upon realizing this at home, called to see if it had been found, no sign of it. Hotel staff not very pleasant, no courtesy at all. They just want to do their basic job and nothing else. It's like an apartment, kitchen, 1 toilet, 1 bathroom, TV room with sofa bed and 2 bedrooms with 1 queen bed each. Sofa is very confortable but the Sofabed is not comfortable at all. We were in 5 people, the 5th person slept in the sofa instead of sofa bed. If we were in 6 people it would be an issue. Good appliances in the kitchen: full size fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher, laundry in your room (wash machine and dryer). Rooms not very clean. Dust in every corner. As many beached in the keys it has a ot of seaweeds. Beach not very pleasant, lot of seaweeds. Not good for swimming. Bad smell near the beach and near the parking entrance due the seaweeds. I was very surprised to book a two bedroom with a full kitchen at this price. I did not expect much, but when I arrived I was again surprised. Room was clean and had plenty of room for a family of 4. The parking was convenient underneath the building and the elevator was a huge help going up to the 3rd floor. Nice concept! it's like renting someone's condo/apartment. We spent six nights at the Casa Del Sol Beach Resort the first week of November. The weather was perfect and the office personnel were very helpful in providing information about the area. Sombrero Beach (which is awesome!) was suggested since a severe storm had struck the area just prior to our arrival and the beach was not at its best. (It had been […] cleaned, but a pile of grass was still there) It didn't take away from the beauty. The palm trees and the breezes were enjoyed from the screened balconies morning and night! One drawback from Casa Del Sol that some may find is that it is directly on the road (hey- the Keys are narrow- what do you expect!?!) The room are on the back side of the hotel away from the road (our unit anyway) and with balcony doors shut you don't hear it. The units were bright and open and each room had a screened balcony (2 bedrooms and living room- so 3 individual balconies! )We had another bedroom that was on the road side. It was cheaper to get a 3 bedroom as opposed to the 2 because we wanted a king bed. ) We really enjoyed our visit and would definately go back again! Another bonus is that this area is pretty much the middle of the Keys so you are central to either end of the Keys. Anytime you can get away from the routine of daily life in November and sit under palm trees with 82 degree temperature and swim in crystal clear water is a great place to go!! Have fun! Read more

On the web, the photo and description painted a nice picture. At the price quoted, we expected a great experience. When we arrived, we were told it was a "house", part of their family of hotels - turns out they have a few small-ish properties, ranging from bad to worse. The beach area had a lot of junk (not just seaweed which is nature) - plastic bottles, fish heads that some guests were throwing in as we watched, lots of old seaweed & junk piled high on the beach. There is no restaurant or bar on the premises, so you have to drive a few miles to get anything. Either you should remove this hotel from your list, or the hotel needs to improve. When we arrived to the location, the immediate reaction among all the guests was the horrid smell coming from the beach. When we looked towards the shore, the amount of seaweed and grass lying on the sand was disappointing. There were literally hills upon hills of it on the beach and there was no way of even walking to the water without stepping on […] it. The room was beautiful and spacious and very comfortable and the pool was great too, however, it's a shame that we had to go to another beach in the area rather than enjoying the beach provided to us by the hotel. Overall we are satisfied but if we return we hope that they can clean the beach properly, especially since we saw the machines used to clean the machines parked by the side, obviously neglected. It was nice to have a full kitchen and two separate bedrooms. The unit could have been cleaner. Because it is run by the hotel next door, you don't exactly get regular hotel service. But the staff was great at finding and correcting an error that had been made on my bill.

Resort was not at all what we expected! The private beach was not usable as far as swimming into the ocean --- you'd have to get past all the gross seaweed first! I only stayed at this hotel overnight, and I was in town for business in a town where most people vacation. The appliances in the kitchen were modern and sleek-looking, but generally inexpensive at closer inspection and noisy. The last occupant's bathing suit was still drying outside, lamps in LR did not work (neither of them), and the whole vibe was that of a tired old motel trying to dress up for the guests. The service at front desk was nice and helpful and rates were competitive and as stated online. Elevator old and kinda scary but working. Room was clean and towels fresh and in good condition. The management is probably doing the best they can with this place, but it looks sad from the outside, on the verge of the "no-tell motel" look. Lipstick on a pig is my best description! Auf unserem Kurztrip nach Key West haben wir im Casa del Sol einmal übernachtet. Früher war es sicherlich sehr gepflegt . Unser Apartement war super sauber , allerdings schon sehr abgewohnt. Die Küche sah klasse aus, allerdings fanden wir in den Schränken und Schubladen fast kein Geschirr oder Gläser. Diese wiederum waren sauber gespült. Die Holzrolläden […] innen vor den Fenstern waren alle total kaputt. Die meisten konnte man nicht hochziehen um den wahnsinns Blick auf das türkisblaue Meer zu geniessen.Als Resort würde ich diese Anlage nicht bezeichnen. Zum einchecken mussten wir in das Büro des Nachbarhotels, allerdings war der Manager sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Eine neuer Anstrich , neue Rolläden, mehr Geschirr und etwas mehr Pflege des Rasens würden das Hotel sehr aufwerten. Alle Angestellten sind sehr bemüht. Für diese eine Nacht war es O.K. Read more

Hotellet lå tæt på hovedvejen og var let at finde Der var ikke tæpper nok til os alle - faktisk var der kun 1 tæppe til 5 mand. Receptionen var lukket da vi kom - vi kom kl 20.00. I reservationen stod der at receptionen var åben til 22.00. Der var lagt papirer ud til os, så det var ikke noget problem, men vi måtte ringe til et nødnummer pga af for lidt […] tæpper. Vi fik fat i en herre der ikke var meget for at komme med flere tæpper, men han kom efter et stykke tid med 1 tæppe mere! Vi fik ham dog overtalt til at hente flere tæpper på de andre værelser da hotellet langt fra var fyldt. Ellers et dejligt hotel med god plads til 5 mennesker i den hyggelige lejlighed vi havde. “A superior Florida Keys beach resort overlooking the largest stretch of private sandy beach in the middle keys” – Damit wirbt dieses Resort offiziell auf seiner Homepage. Es mag wohl der längste Strand in der Gegend sein, ist als Aussage aber schon etwas frech, da der Strand weder large noch sandy ist. Darüber hinaus war der Strand mit Algen verunreinigt. […] Diese wurden zwar entfernt (teilweise), aber auf einen großen Haufen direkt am Strand gelagert (unangenehmer Geruch). Baden war nicht möglich, da es sehr flach war bzw. bei Ebbe gar kein Wasser da war. Darüber hinaus macht die Lage direkt am Highway einen ruhigen Strandtag unmöglich. Fairerweise muss man sagen, dass schöne Strände oder Ruhe auf den Keys in der Tat rar sind. Die Werbung jedoch, das gilt auch für andere Resorts, ist irreführend und oft mehr als geschönt. Ein weiteres Problem: Es gab weder einen Zimmersafe noch eine Safety Box an der Rezeption, nicht sehr beruhigend. Es gibt auch etwas Positives: An den Zimmern ist nichts auszusetzen. Sie sind geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Die Sauberkeit ist in Ordnung. Fazit: Als Motel würde ich das Casa de Sol empfehlen, als Beach Resort definitiv nicht. Read more
