"Overrated hotel in a good location"
We pulled up to the $20 valet, but decided to opt for $10 self parking once we realized that we wouldn't be helped. There was no one available to help with our luggage, offer us a car or anything. I'm pregnant and was trying to carry a couple bags and my husband was injured and limping and did the same. When we stepped inside and attempted to walk up […] to the counter we were told WAIT I'M BUSY (even though it didn't look that way) instead of I'll be right with you. The staff was very unprofessional and they gave replies like yep and nope while chewing gum. Not a good look for a supposed 4 star room. We stayed through Easter Sunday and my husband asked for a later check out because of my morning sickness and we were told that would not be possible. He asked could he pay for one because I was sick and they said they didn't offer that. The hotel was pretty dead, so I'm not sure what 15-30 minutes would have hurt. The rooms have a minibar with a tiny space up top you can use to refrigerate your own items but if you touch anything to move it to make room for your items you will be charged, regardless if it's open. I asked could we get an empty fridge and was told no. The bathroom was TINY, the tub was smaller than a standard tub and ours was broke so we had to take showers. The furniture in our room was scratched up and the lamp shades were stained. There are no microwaves in the room. There was 5 of us that stayed at this hotel for business. All of us had the same opinion....very disappointing! "Customer Service...not at this hotel."
Very disappointing stay from a customer service point of view. At one point, this was an Embassy Suites and that was the nicest part of the hotel. The casino (which was the reason we chose this hotel) was closed the first day of our trip. I was told that every customer was notified, but I was not. Our key had to be continously reprogrammed due to a […] new system. When trying to discuss the issues with a supervisor, she came across argumentative instead of empathetic. We were told that they could not do any type of refund or adjustment because "thats what happens when you book through a 3rd party." I hate to label the entire staff this way, because there were two staffers who were particuarly helpful and polite, but the person in charge at the front desk was the least helpful hotel staff member i have ever encountered. "Can walk to everything!"
Stayed last weekend while visiting for a convention. Room was suitable for 4 adults or a family of 6. Nice TVs in both rooms (office area and bedroom). Some how $60 went missing----but I have no proof that the staff did it. Front desk let me use the office center to print out return air boarding passes. Beautiful layout. Large atrium with waterfall, […] lounge furniture and bar. Kids would love the place. Didn't try the pool but the workout room was top notch. Had sweat towels and water in the facility. Good assortment of cardio machines, free weights, medicine balls and a cable crossover machine. Did NOT have as many machines as some places, but each cardio had it's own TV. Downside was that my room was on the Southside, looking towards the Arch. It just so happens the hotel is about 20 meters north of a freeway bridge to Illinois. As a result it sounds like thunder half the time. Access to the casino was easy through the skywalk. This hotel would be nice even in bad weather. Didn't do the casino gambling area, be went to the "Kitchen" (their buffet restaurant) and Asia (their sushi restaurant. Both were outstanding and very reasonably priced. The young lady who the was the omelet chef at the Kitchen was a real pro. Assuming that the hotel wasn't responsible for my missing $, I'd give the Lumiere VERY high marks. It seems clear that this policy is in place so that you patronize the adjoining casino restaurants or downtown St Louis, which is prohibitively expensive for our, and most families. Upon arrival I was checking in and heard the first time about "security deposit" of $50.00 It is my belief that $50.00 can be not only in the form of Credit Card but also debit card, cash etc. I was denied the chance to check in, because I do not use Credit Card and I have never heard of "security deposit" ever before. Expedia, Hotel Lumiere or whoever […] else in this system, charged my account $149.00 from the same debit card, which they did not want to accept at the front desk in Hotel Lumiere in Saint Louis, MO! Even after my offer of $200.00 as a "security deposit" (!!!), in cash they did not accept it and I had to go around the town, after 4 hours of driving to find a place to stay for 1 night. Guys, do you really know what you are doing? By the way, now I can not find who, between Hotel Lumiere and Expedia charged my account. But Hotel Lumiere promised at the front desk to return my money back to my account. Now they say that I was charged by Expedia. The pool closes at 8pm for adult time, it said nothing about that on internet when I booked. We only stayed 1 night, we got there then ate and planned to swim but they wouldn't let my kids even though nobody else was swimming. "Not what I expected"
The hotel looked great when we pulled up and checked in. Then we got to the room. We had zero garbage cans. I called down and they brought me two small bathroom sized garbage cans. We had 6 girls staying in our room so those were not anywhere near enough. Then our sink handle for cold water didn't work. It would turn all the way around and not turn […] the water off. I told them at the front desk and they sent someone up at 3 am. He said he thought the safe was broken, so he would be right back with supplies to fix the sink. He never came back. We went to the casino around 2 am and they wouldn't let my friends in. They said they kicked one of them out earlier that day. That never happened. Then they said my boyfriend's eyes were glossy, but he wasn't even drunk. I went to the front desk and complained about everything. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, however the bathroom in our suite was so tiny if you sat on the tiolet the door would smack you in ypur legs.
