If you are looking for just a place to sleep, then stay. If you're looking for great rooms with creature comforts - keep driving! We were visiting friends who live in the area so this was the best choice. We stayed 2 nights but wished we had booked only 1. Our room was up in the attic - up 39 narrow steps and down a very dark hallway-my husband hit […] his head on the rafter as he walked in! The bathroom was horrid-old fixtures, air-suction flusher, dingy area, very poor lighting and carpet on the floor ! ! ! YUCK. The furniture was mix and match that they probaly had to assemble themsleves. The bed squeaked. We were very concerned about exiting safely in the event of a fire! We did not eat dinner here, but the dining area looked nicely set with crystal and linen napkins and cloths. There is a bar with an outdoor terrace. Our room overlooked this area and we thought the noise would keep us awake but they stop serving at 11:00pm. We did have BKFST (included) the next AM and it was quite nice - good selection with 'cooked to order' eggs and hot croissants. The BKFST tables were also set with crystal and linens. You will need a GPS to find this Inn - very narrow winding streets. If you're looking for a nice B & B or special Inn, you might do better elsewhere. I stayed for 1 night a week before Christmas. Reception was friendly and efficient. Room was warm and comfortable and very clean. I ventured downstairs for dinner and sat in the bar which was well populated with locals. The food was delicious - hot, tasty and plentiful. Breakfast in the morning was in the dining room and again was hot and tasty. The […] downside is that it is literally in the middle of nowhere and not your usual business trip haunt. Also mobile and wifi connection was very hit and miss but I was happy to be in a non-brand hotel for a change. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast. Set in nice countryside. Could be a bit tricky to find in the dark without a SatNav. Overall, a pleasant stay. Also like the idea of bike hire shop opposite.

we stayed at this hotel as it was close to the reception there was 3 rooms that i booked plus my family the prices were very high for a basic room uncomfortable beds no night porter in fact the bride came back at 11.30 pm and could not get in it states 3 star i think it would be lucky to get any my advice avoid like the plague

Last visited this hotel 27 years ago and was pleased to see the village is still as pretty as it was then. An absolute joy for cyclists as plenty of interesting routes go through the village. The Hurtwood has changed remarkably little since then. The bar has been modernised and the lunch we had was delicious. The rooms were very clean and comfortable […] though a little old fashioned, as was the bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was very grateful in the morning, on phoning through to reception to say that the hairdryer didn't work another one was bought up to me very quickly. My husband and I stayed at the Hurtwood Inn prior to flying out fm Gatwick. First it's miles further than it looks down some pretty narrow lanes. Second and more importantly our room was absolutely filthy and in need a a full refurbishment. Had we not been late arriving partly due to its location and had a dinner booked, and therefore had to rush off, […] I would have complained immediately. It wasn't just dirty - the carpet was filthy and I mean filth, so dirty that one couldn't even consider walking around in anything other than shoes. The furniture was all tatty , stained, watermarks on table and generally very poor. The TV was a joke - remember the first small TVs - very boxy at best it was about 12" and remote didnt work (well at least there was one) The decoration was also in a very poor state of repair with paint peeling off walls/windows/door and the bed was at best 4'6" and very lumpy. Shower hadn't been updated since I should think the 60s when it was probably installed - mmm power no - but it did run off its own supply and sort of trickled out. On a positive it was a fair size room close to car park and it is possible the rooms in the hotel rather than the annex are better - however I would find somewhere else. It's just not worth the bother - there are far better value hotels around which are clean and tidy. Read more

Der Empfang war sehr freundlich. Das Personal ist sehr bemüht und auch freundlich. Die Zimmer sind mit Liebe eingerichtet. Die Matratzen lassen eher zu wünschen übrig. Der Empfangsbereich ist gleichzeitig auch Bar mit Kamin. Hier haben wir sehr gerne gesessen. Für englische Verhältnisse guter Standart. Ein tolles Haus in toller Landschaft

Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding goed. Geschikt hotel voor een kort verblijf, bijv. voor één overnachting op doorreis. Typisch engels en sfeervol. Het onderhoud van de kamers verdient aandacht!
