"great, great, great!"
I can't say enough positives about this place! The staff is wonderful, the rooms are large and clean. I had a wonderful balcony and view of the Tuscan countryside. The food was great too. I went here alone without a car. So for small surcharge the staff would drive me to the closest train stop abt 5min away. Buses run very often so it's easy to get into Florence or other cities at that point. The staff helped me with researching train times. Also free Wi-Fi! Loved it!!!

"Great place"
Amazing views, great atmosphere. Great price for what you get. Only issue was air conditioning didn't work- it was comfortable if you left the windows open, but then there were mosquitoes. I liked the place enough to overlook this, I'd stay again for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Villa La Malva. The location in the Tuscany hills is unmatched. The hotel was clean, staff were very courteous, and they even had a pool which we really enjoyed in the warm weather. No complaints!

"Excellent hotel with panoramic vista over the Arno"
We received a very warm welcome from Gabriella & Christina who made every effort to make our stay a comfortable one. Most of the rooms have a panoramic vista from the balcony looking out over the valley of the Arno River and the wooded Tuscan countryside. The room was a good size and could accommodate three; The bathroom was very well appointed and the rooms have air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice; The hotel has its own restaurant and offers a very reasonably priced set menu each day. We were provided with a kettle and coffee & tea in the room. In the summer months there is a large swimming pool and sun terrace. What's not to love?

"Lovely little hotel"
Having had a tiring few days in Rome, this lovely little hotel was an oasis of tranquility, in a pretty village in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, not far from Florence. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful, providing maps and booking our entry to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, saving us hours of queuing. The room was finished to a very high quality and we had a lovely terrace overlooking the Arno valley. Breakfasts were delicious with plenty of choice but it hadn't been clear to us when we booked that they weren't included in the cost of the hotel. It would have been better if they had been as it would have been unlikely we'd have gone elsewhere for breakfast. We had dinner at the hotel on 3 nights. The food was great but limited and we could have done with some vegetables! Also, we had to pay for extras such as water and bread, but didn't realise this until we came to settle the final bill. This should have been made clear upfront. The hotel was well placed for exploring Tuscany, though one road back to the hotel was scary to say the least! All in all, we had a lovely stay at this charming hotel and would strongly recommend it if you're considering visiting this part of the world.

"Great views and friendly people."
Overall I had a good stay and found the people helpful and friendly. The whole feel of the hotel was positive and the negative comments following only affected the first day. Unfortunately, on arrival, I had to search the hotel and get help from other guests to find the check in person. A notice said to ring the bell for reception but nobody answered either that or the phone. The appropriate person was busy with other duties and thought all guests were already checked in. He was quick to help when finally contacted. Late in the same day I had to ask twice for the canned music playing by the pool to be turned off (at about 1030pm). It had been left on by mistake after the pool closed and the speakers were facing my room. Both these things were dealt with and there was much else to commend. The restaurant for example is very pleasant and the food is good even if rather light on vegetables. The breakfast terrace is great with a tremendous view. Information in the room could be improved. It doesn't mention that breakfast and dinner are taken in different places for example and it would have been good to be given the wifi code without asking.

"Cute hotel but very remote"
This hotel looks adorable from the outside but is very far away from everything so I do not recommend unless you have a car. Dinner was also very expensive and not worth it. Rooms were a little outdated and the air conditioning did not work. We informed staff of this and they told us they would come and check it out. We waited hours and they never did so we suffered through 2 very hot and stuffy sleepless nights. Do not recommend if you prefer a cooler, air conditioned room in the summer for sleeping.

"Great view !"
This hotel was at part 2 of our honeymoon, it is located in a beautiful and secluded Italian town, the hotel is very nice, clean and pretty. The staff were very nice and helpful ! One little problem though, this hotel is very close to nature (which is great) and therefore in the mosquito season we couldn't use the pool. The breakfast is highly recommended - they serve one of the best cappuccinos we had in Italy.

Ligger langt væk fra by og butikker. Svært at køre dertil.

Highly recommended. High up in the Tuscan hills above Signa, this beautiful hotel has a lovely swimming pool with poolside bar. Our room with balcony overlooked the pool and had stunning views over the valley. Room was good size, simply furnished had air conditioning and clean white bed linen. Continental breakfast served on the top floor café area, could eat outside in the sun or inside in the cool. Staff very friendly. Wifi was available and worked well and was free. Close to Signa railway station Florence 15 mins by train and Pisa 50 mins. Would definitely go back, hotel is on 4 levels so obviously there are steps.

Thanks to Kristina, Luisa and the gentleman who owns the villa we had a memorable stay. Always ready to help and suggested ways to get around Florence in the best ways possible, they directed us to the not-to-miss spots. Great view from our room and the nice atmosphere around the pool were a great relief after a hard day's sightseeing. The home-made food cooked by the owner's mum gave us a superb taste of the Tuscan cuisine. Definitely a huge part of our great experience in Poggio alla Malva. "The best of Italian...and Swedish"
08/05/15 Monna N Oslo, Norway
This small hotel has some really sympathetic features: A nice pool, a beautiful view over the Tuscan countryside and really good homemade bread for breakfast. The rooms are also nice, though more like a guestroom in a house than a traditional hotelroom. The hosts are friendly and eager to please. The combination of Swedish organization and Italian passion works really well.

Found this hotel to be a wonderful experience after a day or two in Firenze/ Florence. It's located only a few miles from Signa Italy where we caught the train to Florence each day. It's tucked away in the Tuscany countryside and is owned and operated by a very wonderful family. They are in the process of adding rooms to the hotel but it didn't distract from the ambiance. Gabriel greeted us and showed us our room and the premises. He has one of two pools in the entire area and it's fabulous. His mother cooks the evening meal and they do serve a homemade lunch as well. His wife serves the brunch in the morning and offers her Swedish charm. The only downside to our visit was the lack of good parking and we frequently parked along the shoulder of the road because their driveway was full. The rooms are large and have a balcony overlooking the pool and valley. We would love to stay again if we return to the area.

"Perfect Tuscany Holiday"
05/13/15 Chris H Westgate-on-Sea, United Kingdom
This little gem of a hotel is quite excellent! The rooms are spacious and spotless and most have a stunning view over the valley of the River Arno. Nothing is too much trouble for Gabriella and his wife Christina and his mother's cooking for the very reasonable evening meal is delicious. I strongly recommend the use of a car because the hotel is deep in the lovely Tuscan countryside along winding country roads and there is only an occasional bus service through Poggio Alla Malva and the nearest railway station is in Signa. The hotel is perfect as a base for touring around Tuscany takingin Pisa, Florence, Lucca, San Giminangno and much more. With a large swimming pool and terraces for every room, there is also plenty of excuse just to relax in the sun. In addition to the restaurant in the hotel there are also excellent restaurants in Artimino, just 5 minutes drive away.

I just stayed at the Hotel Villa La Malva, too short. A lovely villa with marvelous views. I had a very tasty dinner in the restaurant, completely decorated with stone walls and chestnut beams. I was served and exquisite pasta with local mushrooms, stewed boar and a bottle of their own house wine. The room was very clean and cozy, just as shown on the photos. In the morning, one can open the curtains and see the sun rise above the hills in front of the hotel. I had the beautiful swimming pool area just underneath my room. The area is equipped with sun chairs and decorated with palm trees. Fresh bread and croissant, among many other things, were served at breakfast. One can choose either to sit inside or outside on the panoramic terrace, enjoying the breathtaking view of the Arno valley. Very professional and welcoming staff. Will definitely be back as soon as I can.

"Villa La Malva: 'home' in Tuscany"
07/22/13 D-2000_2013 Belgium
If you want to visit the beautiful region of Tuscany by car and return 'home' every night, Villa La Malva is the right choice! The hotel owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast, which was elaborate enough for Italian norms, was fresh every morning. We very much liked the fact that it was served outside. We asked for early breakfast twice, which was no problem at all. Kristina prepared it almost an hour early for us, two days in a row. There is also the possibility to have dinner at the villa, we did so twice and we did not regret it! The prices for a three-course meal are very reasonable, and it is home-cooked. Furthermore, it is no problem to ask for seconds (or extras)! Our room was spatious and had a renovated bathroom. The room did get quite hot during the day, however, as the A/C only started working at 7 p.m. We had to leave it on all night, which was rather noisy. Moreover, we only had a bath (no shower) and it took a long time for the bath to fill up, as the water pressure was quite low. But we didn't let this bother us: we were able to cool off in the amazing pool, which was as clean as it was large, with a wonderful view of the hills. One other tiny point of criticism: it is difficult to park at the villa. But you can easily park in the village and walk five miunutes towards the hotel. Poggio alla Malva is a very small town, with only one little shop, owned by very friendly people. The hotel, then, has a quiet location. On our first night, a group of teenagers did disturb the peace, but fortunately they were gone afterwards. We agree with one of the previous reviews that this must have been an isolated incident. Considering the fact that Tuscany is an expensive region to stay, we were very happy with the value of the hotel, i.e. we got what we were looking for when we booked, a quiet and charming place to return to and relax after visiting the area. We would definitely recommend Villa La Malva, for its excellent location to visit the wonderful cities of Florence, Pisa, Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano and Vinci (don't be afraid to go there by car - all of the important cities have large car parks outside the city walls), and even more so for its wonderful owners! When we return Tuscany, we will defitely stay at Villa La Malva again!

"Quiet and charming hotel"
07/17/13 Dana B Brussels, Belgium
We stayed at Villa la Malva for a week in July. The owners of the hotel are VERY helpful and friendly. You feel right at home there. The rooms are spatious and clean, the bathroom is completely renovated. Breakfast is served outside, which is very nice. You can have dinner there every evening (if you like): the dinner is great. It's simple, but good and home-made food. The pool is absolutely amazing: it is very clean and really big (with an amazing view over the hills!). We had the pool to ourselves most of the time. The location of the hotel is good: you can visit all the important cities by car. Poggio alla Malva is a quiet town. There is a small grocery store near the church: they sell almost anything and you can taste (and buy) great cheese, ham and wine. I would strongly advise you to visit the store, you won’t regret it! If you want to visit Tuscany by car and rest in a charming hotel, go for Villa la Malva!
