Great hotel, a little out of the way however very clean and pleasurable. Rooms are large and provide a great view of the city.

The hotel environment is bad. construction next door very noisy. it is in an industrial area and the environment is bad. No wifi in the roon and need to pay which is not the same on your web. not enough packing space and need me to park outside the hotel and got ticket from the police next day.

Upon first glance, it's a great property. All the amenities you need, decent location. Eventually you start to notice things like thin walls, slanting floors, uncomfortable bed. It gets the job done and the restaurant served great food but if you're looking for 4-star, move on.

To all the negative reviewers: you get what you pay for, right? However, in the case of the Ravel I must say that you get more than you pay for. First of all, you get a million-dollar-view across the East River! This is New York, you cannot expect to get a luxury accommodation for a hundred bucks! The staff was friendly and the room AND the bathroom […] were clean. There was decent water pressure in the shower and the towels were immaculate. And parking is free which means huge savings! I found our room absolutely okay for the price. Yes, there is only a thin layer of fake-wood PVC laid over the bare concrete floor but I didn't care. Better than a filthy carpet. Even though we had one of the few rooms with a view across the parking lot we still enjoyed the fantastic view from the penthouse bar, enjoying a superb Rum Sour. I stayed at more expensive hotels in Queens and they weren't nearly as clean and charming as the Ravel. That said, it's not a place where I would spend a honeymoon. But it's absolutely okay for a short stay in NYC. We walked to the subway which is nearby. At night it's a little scary but nothing happened to us. Read more

It was great that they provide a free shuttle on the hour to come & go back to the hotel from the subway. The hotel resturant food smelled great too bad I didn't get to try it! Good facilities, good rooms, nice styling. If you want to make use of any premium services (like on demand, minibar etc they charge massive prices) The hotel also makes deals with cabs to put additional money on top of the net cab costs so that the hotel gets a kickback of at least $5-10. Alrighty. I just stayed at the Ravel for my New Years pilgrimage. Overall my stay was okay. The location was decent but the surrounding area was less than desired. It was very industrial and although I had no problems walking back from the subway, I still felt a little uneasy due to the surroundings. Our stay was just okay.... We were very disappointed to find out that there was construction on 2 sides of the hotel during our stay and we were not informed in any way. As a result we feel that the cost per night should have been lower. Also the lighting in the room was poor.

Very poor experience. The hotels proximity to subway was overstated and their shuttle service is not entirely free. The upkeep of the hotel was very poor and the whole things appears to have been slapped together. Staff was cavalier and generally unhelpful.

To Start I couldnt check in before 3pm which was a huge inconvenience because my flight arrived at 730am and I arrived at the hotel at about 830am so instead of them being helpful I was made to sit in the lobby after about an hour of that I was fed up and asked to speak to manager he was less help I asked if they could just change my room from a double […] to a single they did. When I got to my room It was the worst room in the hotel it faced the parking lot which by the way only had 8 parking spaces.The room was small had no carpet. the heat wasnt really working the mini fride didnt work the shower flooded the bathroom which I cleaned up with towels..I requested for my room to be cleaned the next day I had went out for a few hours came back my room hadnt been touched sheets werent changed nothing was done I call the front desk they just bring me towels..The roof top restaurant was beautiful had spectacular views of manhattan.This hotel Is poorly managed looks nothing like the photos at all I will never stay at this hotel again oh and as a bonus day two of my stay the fire alarm starts going off and continues to for 30 minutes straight before someone turned it off thats a wake up call if ive ever heard of one..I was so disappointed and I felt cheated this hotel is way over priced its not close to anything the neighborhood isnt exactly favorable. I stayed for a week at the Ravel, and had a great experience. The room was clean and contemporary. Service was excellent from the front counter to the restaurant and bar on the top floor. The view from the rooftop restaurant and outdoor patio was amazing, with only a set of steam stacks interrupting a small part of the Manhattan skyline. Being right at the base of the Queensboro Bridge added to the nice cityscape visuals. The food at the restaurant was very good, typical New York pricing, but once again, by the time you get a cab and find a less expensive place, you're in it for the same amount, anyway. Our first night in the hotel was great. I recommend making sure you dont stay on the 5th/top floor during the weekend if you dont want to be up till 4AM. The roof top bar is nice but when you are trying to go to sleep its very hard with the pounding of the base from the music above you. Staff can't answer questions and you have to pay for every little things so that the savings of staying in Long Island City versus Manhattan gets eaten up. There isn't free WiFi unless you are in the lobby and it is a long dark hike to the subway. They offer no shuttle to the LGA or Manhattan so it just isn't worth it.
