"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.
"Affordable Quickie in NY"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

"Candlewood - very comfy"
One of the nicer hotels I have stayed at. Staff were very helpful. Have a free DVD library and food pantry that is a bit pricy but convenient. Highly recommend.
"Helpful front desk staff"
The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was great for the price.
"Helpful staff"
I found this to be a pleasant stay - especially because the front desk staff were very helpful. I needed to change my room from a one queen to a two double for the last night of a three night stay and they were amenable and moved my things for me while I worked. It's wonderful to have a kitchen for even a short stay!!
Hotel staff was excellent, extremely helpful and very courteous. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Personal approach to serving their guests was greatly appreciated. We'll definitely stay at this hotel again when we next visit the area. Kudos to the General Mgr. in particular, he really made it happen for us. This hotel deserves […] a higher rating on Hotels.com. "Still deciding"
I am confused as what to say. The staff is great, the location is wonderful if you are going to New York. Close to NY transit, shuttle to transit free, but make sure you are back before 9 pm. Staff was outstanding, even helped me with a loss cell phone. Two negatives: across the street from scrap metal yard, not a nice or quiet site. Second negative, […] you can hear every step anyone takes in the hotel. I am a light sleeper and that was hard for me. Other then that no bad! Read more
"Candlewood Suites NJ"
We stayed here and took the train into NYC. Free shuttle to train station didnt show up so the hostess called and paid for a taxi to take us. The host upon our arrival was kind of rude like he thought we were someone else ringing the bell and when he saw we were coming to check in he tried to cover up for his sharp tone but it was awkward. The suite […] was very clean, had a complete kitchen, bed was comfortable. The shower had very little water pressure a bit hard to rinse hair out, and the toilet wouldnt flush. We had to flush 2-3 times for it to go down. Other than that we were very pleased and will probably stay there again. Read more

"Close to everything and wonderfully priced!"
When I was searching for a hotel I was skeptical of this one because the nightly rate was so cheap & for some reason the search engines said the star rating was low. I am a very picky person when it comes to hotels but my boyfriend talked me into booking with this hotel. I am SO glad he did! The hotel is only 2 years old and SUPER clean. All the staff […] is friendly, they also have a snack room for small purchases, and a free dvd movie selection. The rooms are emaculate and all of them are equipped with kitchens that include a full size refrigerator, dishwasher & microwave, sink & 2 burner stove top. Granite counters in the kitchen & bathroom, hardwood floor in the kitchen also!! And if all that isn't great enough, the beds are the softest i've ever laid in. I would re-visit this hotel again and again, everytime I drive down to the city to stay. 2 thumbs up! Read more

"Happy stay"
the hotel was clean and neat for the money we pay. shuttle service was good. only dis-advantage was not attached resturanat and bar
Visited NYC with my two sons. Convenient location close to Secaucus Junction / NJ Transit and free shuttle from hotel to station and local restaurants. Friendly and service minded staff. Roomy suite with separate bedroom, 2 TVs, complete kitchen with equipment. Would gladly book this hotel again.
"Truly a suite deal!"
Don't normally provide feedback, but this was such a good experience and great deal, right outside of Manhattan, that I had to say something. Was on a family vacay with 3 kids and couldn't afford Manhattan hotel prices so was looking for something in nearby New Jersey. Everything in the area in our price range looked sketchy but came across this gem […] of a hotel that exceeded expectations. I've got to say, the location looks shady cause it's surrounded by the industrial wasteland that is New Jersey, but once you drive into the gated hotel parking lot, this place turns out to be an ideal family hotel for a comparatively affordable price. It not only has full kitchens for cooking family style meals, along with free washer dryers (which came in handy after being on the road for a week), but the hotel staff couldn't have been nicer. They kept on asking if we needed anything. This place is comfortable and very spacious, compared to Manhattan hotels. You can't beat value and it's only a 15 minute drive into downtown NYC. Ideal for family or long-term stays, if you're trying to save a buck. They even offer a shuttle service into NYC, which we didn't use, but nice to know for the next trip. I'll definitely stay here next time we visit NYC! Read more
Very nice room with a kitchen. Fast wi-fi. Free shuttle service to Secaucus Junction train station. They let us park our car there for several hours after we checked out.
"Not Thrilled"
This was my first stay at this hotel and it will be my last. i have stayed at other Candlewood locations in the past and this one didn't come close to the others. I attempted to use my Candlewood Guest card to receive points for my stay, but the person who checked me in said that they do not participate in this program. I thought this was a little […] odd, but I figured that it is possible. When I checked in, I asked for a 1st floor room. without even looking, the desk person said that there were none available. About 2 hours later, I was in the lobby when someone came in asking to get a room for the night. This person was offered a first floor room. The room I was given was designed for use by a person who is physically handicapped. I found it rather odd that they would give me a room like this when it was obvious that I didn't need it. What would they have done if someone who was handicapped came in and wanted a room that was handicapped accessible? The biggest drawback about this room is the fact that the shower had no way of containing the water. By the time i finished with my shower, the bathroom floor was flooded. The halls at this hotel smelled from people who were cooking in their rooms. While I realize this room did have a small kitchenette area, the smells that drifted through the hall were enough to make me feel nauseous. Speaking of food, the only place to eat is several miles away. Anything closer is located in an inner-city area that did not look inviting at all. The hotel is located near an industrial section of the city. While this is not exactly a bad thing, you could tell that the hotel staff felt that this was enough to allow them to not take care of the property. When I checked out the next morning, the person at the desk has an attitude because I only stayed for one night. As soon as he saw this on the computer, he made a comment about it and developed a very rude attitude toward me. For the amount that they charged for a room, one would rea Read more

"Convenient, fantastic except neighborhood"
As long as you don't get lost, it's awesome. Very new, tastefully appointed. Free shuttle to train, ride is about 6 minutes, and it's one train stop to Penn Station. Very accommodating staff let us park our car there all day for free after we checked out. Easy to get to outlets where there are tons of restaurants -- also easy to get lost leaving there. […] That area of NJ is just not very nice, unfortunately, and not fun to be lost in. But if you're familiar with the area, the hotel is absolutely recommended! Read more

"Great for a Get-Away!"
We wanted to visit NYC for 2 days, but didn't want to pay the NYC hotel prices and pay to valet our car in the city. This hotel was about half the price and only a 13 minute train ride into the city! And the parking was FREE!! Can't beat it! The hotel room did smell a little like cigarette smoke, but it was not bothersome. The room was very clean and […] comfortable. The staff was very helpful and called the taxi for us to get to the train station both days. Definitely recommend for a quick, less-expensive getaway! Read more
"OVERNIGHT STAY"
HAD A COMFORTABLE NIGHTS STAY WITH EXCEPTION OF NOT BEING ABLE TO CLOSE THE WINDOW DRAPES. HAD THE CONSTANT BLINKING OF THE TRAFFIC LIGHT .
"Extended stay means make your own bed"
I've stayed at this hotel before so I obviously like it being near the NJ Transit line into Manhattan. The wireless is free. You make your own bed, ask for towels and coffee at the front desk if you need more. No breakfast but there is a fine Diner about 10 blocks from this hotel. It's a nice walk. Even with a GPS it is difficult to find but the price […] is just fab! Bed is comfortable. Read more

"Great alternative to high city hotel prices..."
My husband and I traveled up to New York for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. For how low it was in price, we were pleasantly surprised with how nice our stay was. There is a complimentary shuttle that runs from the hotel to the Secacus train station and from there, it was only a 13 minute ride into the city. Very convenient. The only negative feedback […] I have for this establishment is that there were very noisy people in the room above us all four night we were there. We complained to the staff and they said they would take care of it, however it continued to happen. I'm assuming that since it was an extended stay hotel, people were more disinclined to keep quiet. All in all though, it was a good experience and I definitely suggest staying here if you can't afford the city hotel prices. Read more

"Near to the City"
My friend and I needed to go into New york City, but didn't want to stay there. This hotel is located a couple of miles north of Secaucus Junction - trains come and go approx. every 15 minutes. Once you get into the City, mass transit takes you almost everywhere. The hotel was quiet, clean and located about 12 miles north of Newark Airport. If you drive […] to the City, but dont want to pay NYC Parking rates, this is defintely a great alternative. Read more
"good business stop"
front desk personnel was great, room was great in terms of comfort and convenience. The only downside was the people in the room above me spent about 30 mins. moving things around in their room at 1 AM
"extremely satisfied"
We were very pleased with our stay at the Candlewood suites. We definitely plan to stay there again real soon. The staff was very helpful and the room was very clean and well equipped. Will definitely recommend this place to our friends.

"close to train to NYC"
The hotel was nice and clean. There is not much around if you do not have a car but it is very close to the train station to get into NYC for the day.
"A Great Experience"
We had no idea what to expect, never having stayed at a Candlewood hotel. I was very pleased and content. The room was comfortable, clean (and that matters more than anything to me) and spacious. It had more amenities than I expected it to. While we didn't actually spend a lot of time in the room, we could have. I would definitely return to this hotel […] and I certainly will recommend it. "Enjoyed My Stay"
Stayed here on a saturday night. Went to NYC then a Jets game on sunday. Great location for getting to NYC and to an event at the Meadowlands. Sure there isnt a lot in the surrounding area, but drive 5 minutes and you'll find a diner, Dunkin Donuts, supermarket and plenty of other choices. I have nothing but great things to say about this place.
"Good work hub"
Needed to find an apartment in Jersey City/Hoboken and this was a great alternative to staying in a pricey hotel in those cities. 15 min. drive to either location. Great to come back to WiFi and a partial kitchen so that cooking and doing apt research was easy. Comfortable, clean, and a nice open space to wind down in.
"On an over-night to NYC"
This chain specializes in extended stays, so we were a bit apprehensive when booking an over-night stay. We were pleasantly surprised to find: A comfortable room, well equipped. Free wireless and wired internet access. An exceptionally comfortable bed! A friendly, helpful staff. A ground-floor room (not elevators to wait) A 'fridge, coffee maker, and […] small stove in the kitchenette. Convenient parking near the door. The only difficulty was getting to the hotel; the signage on the roads in New Jersey is terrible, so directions were difficult to follow. Read more
"On a Budget?"
Hotel overall is a economy stay. The hallways were a bit dirty and the towels had stains or hair on them. The last day we had no hot water.
"Comfortable and Quiet Stay"
This hotel was centrally located to all the hot areas in NJ and NYC as long as you have a car. The accommodations are clean, quiet and safe. This place is good for travelers, families and anyone who likes having some of the basic comforts of home while away.
"nice room for the money"

"Great Place"
Great hotel to stay at. Easy to get to the train station to go into NYC. The parking at the train station was very reasonable. The room was very clean, and the bed was awesome-very comfortable. They even include pots, pans, and dishes. Don't forget the mini dishwasher. The free washer and dryers were handy. Be aware they do not do housekeeping but once […] a week so you will have to request fresh towels if you want them, this was not an issue though. I will be back, as long as the rates stay reasonable.
