However the street outside was very noisy when the windows had to be left open due to the heat. I wouldnt recommend the hotel for a family of five due to the noise levels but would highly recommend it for access to the city and location.

This hotel was everything all the reviews said it was. The location couldn't have been better. We were able to walk out the door to catch either the city tram or the bus.; easy connections to the subway as well. The room was clean and airy; the beds spotless and comfortable. Be aware that you have to get a special coin from the owner to operate the washing machine, but the dryer and iron were ready to use. I stayed with my 25 year old daughter and my sister-in-law and we all felt very safe in this neighborhood. I was often outside at 1:00 in the morning to have a smoke and never worried about my safety. That could perhaps be said of all of Vienna, but this location was extremely safe. After 6 days, my sister-in-law flew back to the U.S. and my daughter and I left Austria for a 3 day visit in Greece and were to return to Vienna for a one night stay before heading home to the States. We were originally going to book at another place closer to the airport, but instead came back to the Apts der Josefstadt, because we felt so good about it. Well worth it....we loved the place and the location and the owner was a gem; very nice and very helpful. Even when the reception is not open, you can contact her via a buzzer system that is available. Close enough to the centre for quick access but far enough away to escape the crowds - a perfect location for playing tourist but also being part of everyday life in Vienna. Supermarkets nearby for all the essentials and a great bakery on the next block makes catering very simple. It's not really a hotel but they rent out rooms in this block of apartments. The room I stayed in was a single bed cause I was travelling alone. The location of the hotel is very good, walking distance to supermarket, and a 20 mn walk to the Rathaus. Service was good. It was provided a baby bed, high chair and eating kit for our little one. I stayed at the der Josefstadt during the international AIDS conference, and thought it was a comfortable stay in a beautiful city. The apartments don't appear to cater to high maintenance tourists, but has all of the amenities needed. It is nearest the Rathaus metro station, which is about 5 to 7 minutes walking distance along a pleasant road lined […] with cafes, shopping and a nearby church. It is slightly off of Alserstrasse as other reviewers noted. A taxi stand is right outside the premises as an alternative to the Rathaus underground. The check-in procedures were straightforward, though there was no one to receive me when I arrived in the afternoon over the weekend. In general, I found the reception hours did not cater to my schedule (departures at 8AM, return in the late evenings), so there was no "concierge" to give directions or answer questions. However, the studio apartment in which I booked was clean; had a nice kitchenette; shops and cafes everywhere in proximity, and very comfortable. It did not have air conditioning, but a fan. It also includes a small radio with CD and cable television as well as a safe. While it was not luxury accomodation, it offers mid-range accomodation, in easy proximity to most attractions, very clean and comfortable, at an affordable price. Decorations are tasteful. I would recommend this location for travellers not wanting to pay high prices for accomodation or spend a lot of time in their hotel. There is no gym or other additional amenities, but a good buy. Dienstleistung sehr gut. Leider ist das Appartementhotels nicht rund um die Uhr durch Personal besetzt. Das hat den Nachteil, das Gäste in den Gängen vor Ihren Appartements rauchen und sich sehr laut unterhalten. Das kann mitunter am Abend oder frühmorgens sehr störent wirken. Sonst waren wir sehr zufrieden.

Ein ABSOLUTE NO GO waren dann aber die GLASTÜREN als Eingangstüren zu den individuellen "Apartments" = ABSOLUT KEINE PRIVACY. Immerhin- das Personal war nett und hilfsbereich und die Lage gut direkt vis à vis Tramstation und nicht weit von U-Bahn. Ich würde solch ein Appartement jederzeit wieder einem Hotelzimmer vorziehen. Es ist großzügig mit großem Wohn- und Schlafraum, einem Vorraum mit Küche und einem Bad mit Dusche. Alles gepflegt und sauber. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Fenster geht zu einer Seitenstraße auf, was natürlich noch Straßenlärm reinlässt, wenn man bei […] geöffnetem Fenster schläft. Aber das wird einem wohl im Zentrum von Wien überall so gehen. Und wenn man von Kongress, Stadtbesichtigung und einem guten Wein müde genug ist, schläft man trotzdem ein und kann morgens das Fenster ja schließen. Kurze Wege, da die Straßenbahn in der Nähe hält, man zu Fuß zum Kongress ins AKH kam und man auch zu Fuß rasch bei vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten oder der nächsten U-Bahn ist. Ein Bäcker, ein Lebensmittelgeschäft oder auch ein Cafe, wo man auch preiswert Frühstücken gehen kann, sind um die Ecke. Ich würde wieder dort nächtigen. Read more

Das Hotel ist sehr verkehrsgünstig gelegen, was dann auch mit starken Straßengeräuschen verbunden war. Flur und Rezeption können noch aufgewertet werden. Das Appartement war sehr gut, mit zwei großen Zimmern, zweimal DSL, sehr gepflegt und ansprechend. Das Parkett ist noch original erhalten, sodass man dann dann auch nachts gut vor "Eindringlingen" […] gewarnt würde. Schade, dass sich nicht alle Hotelgäste an das Rauchverbot im Nichtraucherzimmer gehalten haben. Das Hotelteam sieht dies auch mit Befremden. Erstaunlich zentrumsnah, Parkplatz an Hauptstraße war zumindest samstags kein Problem- Hotel hat nur einen Stellplatz in einer kleinen Garage- hmm...naja- ging auch so gut! Zimmer waren schön und schön groß- jedoch hat leider unser Vormieter wohl darin geraucht (ist eigentlich verboten!!!). Sonst von der Sauberkeit her ging es in Ordnung...
