Arrived early evening with nightfall just starting. Driving directions not very helpful. I had to call the resort to find its location. The resort is well maintained and nicely appointed. The room (it was listed as a 1-bdrm suite) was a converted hotel room. There were kitchen appliances but no dishwasher. "Watch out for hidden fees- and loud noises"
We stayed at this property for 2 nights. Overall we had a good stay, but the hotel has hidden resort fees of $5.00 per night and $10.00 wifi per device. The biggest problem we has was their lack of respect for noise late at night. The hotel and maintenance staff tore an event down between the hours of 12 to 3 am. using ATV's and large trucks. This hotel […] has no A/C, so to be comfortable you have to have a window open. I expressed my frustration to the front desk manager. He looked at my reservation then agreed that the noise was disruptive but refused to issue a refund when I requested one from hotels.com. The nighty resort fee we charge is only $5.00 plus tax which currently includes Wi-Fi. A new Wi-Fi system has just been installed this week and we are looking forward to providing a much better Wi-Fi service as an option to our guests who select to use it in their guestroom. Additional charges may apply in the future. The intention of our resort fee is to bundle the most widely utilized and requested resort amenities and offer them to our guests at one convenient low price. Nevertheless, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. While we empathize with you in your feelings regretfully, we cannot always offer a refund as some rentals are non-refundable. If you are willing to give us another chance, we are extremely confident that your next stay with us will be much more enjoyable and even exceed your expectations.
We needed a place to stop at on our way to Vegas so gave cedar lodge a try since we stay at quite a few diamond resort properties. Keep in mind we are not hard to satisfy. Check in was quick but the staff at counter was not friendly or very helpful. The property had a "Shining" feel to it. Kind of lonely and a bit scarey. Our room was okay but dated. […] The fireplace pilot light was on and made the room a little too hot. This is July so maybe they should turn them off. I'm sure we could have called the front desk but we were only staying one night and I didn't really want to talk to the staff. We had dinner at the lodge and I have to say they make a mean burger! The server was great! The next morning we had breakfast at the coffee shop and the food was good. The barista was kind of rude to us and some other guests. Our server was polite but not too friendly. We checked out the gift shop and we loved it. Not what we expected. Good quality stuff and good prices! The clerk was really nice and helpful. I can't remember her name but she's from California. Every time you turn on the TV the CEO of Diamond Resorts is touting how great they are and treat you like kings but what they neglect to tell you is we aren't going to make up you room until after 3 days. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay; excellent facilities, friendly and helpful staff. Room was one of the best I've ever stayed in. My only complaint was with the internet access. They did give me coupons to use the internet, so no additional charge as some have complained of in the past. The problem was that it is incredibly slow. I tried to watch programs […] on Netflix as well as other streaming video sights, but the download speeds were usually not enough. Netflix requires .50 mbps and recommends 1.5. The best I got from a few speed tests was .30. For what they charge for rooms, and the additional $5 per day resort fee, they need to do better. I've gotten better internet service in hotels I paid much less for. They said they were upgrading their internet access; let's hope they can get the speeds to at least 3 mbps. We had a nice time and the Lodge was very nice. We live in southern Nevada and it is really hot at this time of year so we went to higher elevation for some relief from the heat. "Don't stay in this ski hotel in warm weather!"
What looked like a nice place to stay turned out to be a disaster. Our 3rd floor room was seriously hot. Without AC, we tried opening the window and using the fan, with little relief. This place may be comfy in winter, but not in June. Heat was one problem, but the other would be year-round - the saggy mattress. Coupled with the overly stiff foam pillows, […] this bed was a nightmare; a horrible night's sleep. When I was asked at checkout how my stay had been, and I told the front office staff my complaints, their responses were "oh, you were on the third floor" (which being under the roof would presumably have been hotter), and "did you notify the front desk of your complaints last night?" - as though they would have brought me a new mattress and an AC (and also implying that because I had not called earlier, they were absolved of any responsibility). Please be aware that our website, as well as, our 3rd party rentals website clearly detail that we do not have A/C in any of our units. As we have recently undergone a change in management, we are in the process of updating our rooms’ mattresses and pillows. This is an ongoing process that should be completed within the next year or two. If you had notified our front desk immediately when you realized the mattress and pillow were not comfortable, our front desk staff would have checked and see if a room was available that had a newer mattress and pillow that would have possibly been more comfortable for you. That being said, I am truly sorry that we did not meet your expectations. If you are willing to give us another chance, we are extremely confident that your next stay will be much more enjoyable and even exceed your expectations. The hotel was very nice and clean but potential visitors should know it is located at 9,800' which can cause altitude problems such as headaches or worse if unaccustomed to this height. We were looking for a room to book for one night. Either it wasn't clear this was a ski resort or I missed it. The drive was pretty but it had snowed and was a bit treacherous. We had accidentally booked the room a day out from when we were going to arrive. I booked this on accident thinking it was between Zion and Bryce Canyon. What a pleasant surprise, when we got to the top of brian head and got snow in May. "Nice family vacation spot"
We stayed in the main lodge with the indoor pool so our grandkids could enjoy. The kitchen suite was awesome with all the necessary supplies so I could cook dinner every night. There are very limited quality places to eat in Brian Head so I was so glad I brought meals with me (there is no real grocery store in Brian Head either so bring supplies with […] you). There are a couple of markets but no real produce or meat. The gift shop in the hotel has a few supplies and very inexpensive which was nice to see. Rented directly from the Cedar Breaks Lodge rather than through a private party. Glad I did as the place was immaculate and the 'cleaning fee' charge is already built into the room charge. Our family stayed here for an overnight stay on our way to Vegas. With 4 kids it's often hard to find accommodations large enough without having to get 2 rooms. We had a 2 bedroom very reasonably priced and very spacious. It was clean and comfortable and I was a little sorry we were there for only 1 night.
