dvd wasn't hooked up had to call the front desk numerous times before someone answered..chair in room needed replacing very bad. Shrubs by gazebo was very tall and kinda spooky at night and grass needed cutting around the hotel

This property is close to major roads in the area. Also close to shopping, movie theatre, and restaurants. I found it very quiet. The beds were comfortable and the linens above average.

Many things I like about the hotel, room size was nice, high bathroom counter and the kitchen area. the recliner was broke and not useable the recliner and desk chair had the covering falling off (need replaced) Overall was good but coould use some TLC.

A little hard to spot in the dark, they must have regulations against tall signs. The rooms were perfect - as described. Staff was very helpful. Restaurants close by including a convenient store. The price was right, would definitely stop again.

My girlfriend and I just wanted to get away for a night and we chose this location because of the great location. Everything was great except of the water stains on a few spots on the carpet. Other than that I will be making a return stay.

Although I'm not handicapped, I was given a ground floor handicapped ADA room. At first I was thrilled; there was so much more room than a regular room due to the necessity for a wheelchair to maneuver. The bathroom was 2-3 times the size of a normal hotel bathroom. But the room smelled like smoke, even though it was a non-smoking hotel. I quickly found out why: this room was at the end of the hall. Next to it was a door leading to a stairwell, and the stairwell had a door to the outside. People would stand right outside that door and smoke, which would somehow permeate the bathroom in my room, probably through the plumbing pipe holes. I closed the bathroom door one night and the next morning it smelled like someone had smoked in the bathroom itself! Of course this was all compounded by a real lack of insulation in the room - every time someone went up or down the stairs it sounded like someone was stomping on my ceiling. This hotel should be ashamed of putting anyone in this room. It was one of the worst stays anywhere in my experience. But the room was nice to look at and it was clean. I imagine that other rooms might have been just fine. But this is a warning that you should request another room if you get this one, unless you are a smoker who enjoys the sounds of elephants on the ceiling all night!

It was the worst experience i have had on the road yet. First room was across from barking dogs. Moved down the hall and that was worse. Loud music coming from somewhere. It sounded like it was in our room The person above us went in and out of his room repeatedly. Sounded like he had on combat boots. This was not an experience we wish to repeat. The room was clean is the best I can say for the whole thing. I realize you have no control over other tenants but you may want to rethink pet policy.

While not being the life of luxury type if hotel it is perfect for a short weekend stay or business for a week or so. Service was very friendly and responsive. One thing to remember is cleaning is weekly so they didn't forget. If you would like daily just let them know and they will make it happen. Very close to a mall and other shops along with plenty of good options very close. Rate was perfect!

Bed was hard as a rock! Wifi didn't work that well. Tv only got a few channels. Won't stay there again. Paid to much money for a room that left me with back pain the next morning

Nice enough room, friendly gal at the front desk, but really a no-frills experience. No coffee in the lobby, 2 sets of doors to enter the lobby and neither set automatic. Maybe not a big deal but when you're dragging in your luggage and all hands are arms are full, it's nice not to have to set everything down twice just to enter the building.

It was an ok hotel. The room smelled like smoke even though it was non-smoking. The furniture was outdated and stained. The bedspreads where also stained. It was nice to have a kitchen in the room but someones leftovers where in the fridge when we got there. Ewww Would not stay there again

I was suprised to see how clean the hotel was. The room was very comfortable. Close to shopping and nightlife. Only complaint is walls are thin so you can hear people walking around above you.

I was totally unimpressed with this hotel. They only provide cleaning service once a week and guests are expected to replenish their own towels. Bed was uncomfortable room temperature was marginally controlled by their systems. Also, original room air conditioning was not working they wanted to put me in a room that was less than what I had paid for. I would not give this hotel more than one star.

Overall my stay was good. I particularly like Candlewood properties. My biggest complaint is that they don't have enough help on the premises in the evening hours. The person at the front desk works really hard, but the work load is too heavy for one person. In addition to that is the safety measure. She should not be working the front desk alone with the economic climate we have the increase in crime. My concern for her was that of a mother with a daughter her age.

This hotel was more than I expected. There was free popcorn, punch, and cookies in the lobby when we checked in. There are free DVD rentals at the front desk as well. The employees at the front desk were efficient and very friendly. The room was clean and larger than expected. The bed wasn't as comfortable as I had hoped, but not bad at all. For the price, it was one of the best hotels I've stayed in. I would definitely stay there again.

We had a group of 10 needing lodging because we were booked at another hotel who could not accomodate our double bed request. Candlewood Suites was available and it was the greatest thing that could have happen to us that day. This hotel was in much better condition and the people were more friendly and helpful. We had a great week and would not hesitate to come back again.

I am a Platinum IHG member and usually book at Holiday Inn. Thought I would experience a different hotel in the same chain (and save a little $). Greetings from the staff were very friendly and covered all the bases from room cleaning ( once every 7 days) to the free guest laundry (just saved $8). Rooms are clean to include counter top stove, dishwasher, refridgerator and cookware. Great location with several restaurants and pubs close by. They even have an outdoor atrium complete with a gas barbeque. Highly recommend.

We stayed valentines day weekend. Was not expecting the mini kitchenette-we did know there was a full sized fridge, but not burners, and pots and pans and a dishwasher too.very nice room for the price, VERY friendly and nice front desk staff.

I read a lot of reviews before I booked here. I will start with the positives. The staff--wonderful!! They were all so nice, very friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well stocked. We had a regular room, not the suite. It has a full size fridge, cooktop stove, no oven, microwave, and sink. The cabinets are stocked with some silverware and extra utensils (serving spoons, cooking untensils, stuff like that.) Also had a few bowls, plates, a small pot, etc. Papertowels, dishtowel and dishrag, pot holder, a toaster up in the cabinet. I was impressed!! The room and bathroom was a decent size. Very clean, fair decor. One chair had a big rip, the recliner was ok. Some negatives....Some people complained about bad smells. The room smelled a little like rotten bananas to me when we turned the furnace on. But the 2nd night we were there. We came in around 11pm or so. The lobby was fine. But the hall on the 3rd floor where we were smelled like a mix between burnt toast and pine sol. So strong it made me sick at my stomach! At least the rotten banana smell covered that up in the room. UNTIL about 1:30-2am. I woke up with the hall smell in the room so strong I had a horrible headache and was so sick at my stomach I thought I was going to throw up. I was gone by the time we checked out. Some people complained about the bed being uncomfortable. If you like a firm bed, you will like it. I don't. It felt like sleeping on a floor to me!! Not the hotel's fault, just my preference. Some people also complained about hearing people walking on the floor above them and hallway noise. That is VERY true! I came prepared though. I brought a fan to cover all the outside noise so I could sleep. No, I won't stay there again, but I can't say that I would never stay at a Candlewood again! I have been told they are a wonderful hotel chain!

I booked a room at the Candlewood Suites in O'fallon as I was going to be at an event in the area. I had never stayed at a Candlewood before so I didn't know what set it apart from other IHG brands. They are basically geared towards extended stay guests to bridge the gap between hotels and apartments. When I arrived at the property after 5 in the evening there was no one at the front desk. I waited several minutes and was questioned a couple of times by a child that was very difficult to understand. I eventually found the bell hidden on the corner of the desk and rang it. No answer, and five minutes later still no answer. Eventually a young man came from down the hallway dressed in a hoody and jeans. Shortly after he came along a young couple came from the same hallway and appeared to be waiting for the clerk as well. The room was nice and fairly clean. The furniture was somewhat worn and looked like it needed refinishing (perhaps their cleaning chemicals are too harsh). The one bedroom suite was spacious enough for me by myself and the chairs and bed were all comfortable enough. The first night when the A/C would kick off I could here what I thought was a back up beeper on a piece of construction equipment. I could only hear it when the fan kicked off so no big deal. Then the next night I could hear it again and it was getting tough to fall asleep. After investigating from the 3rd floor window I came to the conclusion that I was actually hearing an alarm clock from another room. I was surprised that some was at the desk to take my call as a sign was posted to call a certain number after hours if you needed assistance. The front desk clerk answered and a few minutes later the alarm was silenced. Checkout was fairly quick and uneventful.

My wife and I stayed here for the night while passing through on our way from Dallas to Detroit for a family funeral. We had our small dog with us and I used IHG points for my stay. When we checked in at 10:30pm I was shocked at the pet fee of $75.00 for one night. I don't mind paying between $10 to $25 per night for a small pet but $75 for one night is way too much. To make matters worse, I gave the gentleman at the front desk my personal credit card to charge the pet fee too when we checked in. We checked out at 6:30am the following morning and the front desk was closed. Our receipt was in the letter-rack to the left of the front desk. Our receipt, didn't have the Pet fee on it. Two days later, I saw that the hotel had charged my company credit card for the pet fee (my company credit card is kept on my IHG travel profile) despite giving them my personal credit card at check in. This created an additional problem for me as I now have to write a check to my company for the expense. Clearly two issues at this propriety: 1. Incompetent check in staff and 2. Upper managements pet policy is inconsistent with other Candlewood Suites I stay at with our small dog. On the good side, the room was very clean and the hotel is quite with a couple of restaurants within walking distance if you don't feel like using the kitchenette in your room.

We were told that our soccer team HAD to stay at this hotel for a tournament in town. We booked a queen studio suite online which was said to sleep 5 people. Queen bed with a pull out sofa. My family arrived, 2 adults and 2 kids (12 yr old girl and 9 yr old boy), the front desk clerk checked us in, we hauled our bags in to our room, which turned out to be a room with one queen bed & a recliner, NOTHING ELSE. How were 4 people supposed to sleep in 1 queen bed??? I asked aboout a rollaway bed...they don't have those at this hotel. We went back to the front desk and were told that they could move us to another room but the cleaning person needed to clean first and it would be an hour before the room was ready. The girl at the desk was very sweet but the whole situation was frustrating!!! Half of our team's rooms were messed up, one father checked in with his 12 yr old daughter and another teammate and they were given a room with only a queen bed. He ended up sleeping in a recliner for 2 nights because they didn't have a room to move them to. Their rooms are not condusive to families, they don't have a pool, and there is no common area (lobby consists of 2 chairs). The gazebo out back was often being used for workers smoke breaks and was infested with wasps. This hotel should only be booked as an extended stay or for individuals/couples traveling with pets. On the upside, it did seem clean enough, they had free wi-fi, and the staff was polite and as helpful as they could be.

Nice property with the usual Candlewood amenities. Front desk is staffed 24/7 at this Candlewood, which is not the case at some of them. (We were relieved to find this since we arrived very late). Overall clean and well kept. The only negative in our room was a broken recliner chair.

Which is a shame because it's a relatively new property in a convenient area. It's off I-64 EB from east of St Louis. It has several eateries within a.5 min WALK. It has (nearly) new chairs (which need a break in period to be REALLY comfortable).The TV has the first 80 channels of the local cable listing ( including NFL and MLB). This is a long term stay hotel which means weekly (NOT daily room cleaning), no breakfast.(OK with me if I know ahead of time). A FULL kitchen (Wow when was the last time I COOKED a meal in a room, being single). NOW here is my REAL .issue. Not only can I hear the upstairs neighbor roll his / her desk chair roll across the bare kitchen floor but seemingly all my neighbors taking showers and flushing toilets.( GEE I hope they all go to bed ahead of me).

Traveling to Kentucky...spent the night at Candlewood, not expecting a whole lot. Wow for the price it was great, very comfortable bed and nice clean room. Staff very helpful and many conviences for people having to stay a longer time. Surprised to find they even rent various equipment for longer stays that you might not think of packing. In anycase will use this franchise again when on a driving trip.

Old furniture with tears..dvd had to get front desk to help which took up our quiet time together..he was nice but had to make several trips to our room due to no batteties n really didnt know how to connect it
