The room was spacious, bright, and immaculate. The whole facility was clean - and smelled fresh without any perfumes or other tricks. Breakfast was adequate, and again, the area was kept tidy - late-comers chose food from a refreshed selection and sat at clean tables. We have booked hotels in the area many times. This was by far the best experience we've had.

My room was very attractive, clean, and comfortable. It had a nice-size flatscreen tv, a refrigerator, and coffeemaker. It was everything I needed in a convenient location. The lobby was attractive and there was a swimming pool and jacuzzi which looked well maintained. There isn't a restaurant on the premesis however a very nice but simple breakfast was included in the price of the room. There are many restaurants close by as this hotel is on Route 1 in Branford.

Last Christmas we stayed at this hotel and had a very good experience. We recommended it to two couples that were joining us at a party in the area. It was the only hotel close to our party that we would consider. When we got to our room it had a very strong smell of Fabreeze, or some sort of "cover-up" spray to probably hide the smoke to make the room "non-smoking" as we requested. One of our friends had a room that smelled of smoke terribly, and the other couple had a very nice room. Two bad experiences out of three is not enough for me to recommend this hotel again.

In reading a review before we went, one guest was dissatisfied because he couldn't sleep due to 3 weddings in the hotel. That could conceivably be a problem, but we went on a Sunday evening and our stay was great - and price included breakfast in a nice setting.

Aug 2009: Stayed at this hotel after a visit to Yale. 15-20 minute drive late on a very dark rainy night on I95 & 91 was scary. But hotel was a nice surprise. Free apple and coookies on arrival were a nice welcome (milk would be a nice addition!) Perhaps the hotel is very new, so the spacious room was immaculate, the bed was nice and firm, wi-fi worked without a hitch, and the breakfast had reasonably good variety. Did not check out swimming pool or other facilities, but noticed many families with kids splashing around.

Hotel was great! The room was very comfortable in size, the bathroom was a little small but O.K. The pool and jacuzzi was a pleasure. The hotel also offered a complimentary breakfast the days we stayed. Would stay again

Let me start by saying that when the woman at the front desk handed me a key to room 101, I should have known better. It is the closest room to the front desk, the elevator, the breakfast room, as well as the pool and fitness facilities. But I was too tired to switch it and a little pleased that I didn't have to lug my suitcases too far. The hotel itself feels new and the room was clean and bigger than expected. Those are the only positive things I have to say about our stay at the Holiday Inn. We stayed for just one night - a Thursday - and the woman at the front desk told me there were 3 separate wedding parties also staying in the hotel that night. One of the groups of wedding guests was currently holding a party in the breakfast room that night. Becuase our room shared a wall with the breakfast room, we could hear every laugh, every speech, every round of clapping and every other party-like noise until the wee hours of the night. To be fair, we never called the front desk to complain (we planned to attend a wedding later that weekend and didn't want to bring any bad wedding-karma our way). I'm not sure what time that party ended because at around midnight we turned up the music in our room to drown them out and tried to get some sleep. At around 5 am we were awoke to the sound of banging cabinet doors. Hooray, the breakfast crew had arrived! I am actually quite a heavy sleeper, but we clearly heard every step of breakfast preparation as if they were making it in our very room. (BTW, we also SMELLED the bacon and eggs as if they were making it in our very room...for the entire 5 hours! It gets gross after the first hour, trust me.) We called the front desk, who laughed and then agreed to tell the breakfast attendant to be more quiet. There was absolutely no noticeable difference in the the amount of noise she made after our phone call. Convenient location to New Haven. Swimming pool was warm, which was nice. Had very good dinner at nearby diner.

I visited here with my wife and stayed for 4 days. It was a nice stay, the hotel has good interiors and made us feel fresh. I would very strongly recommend this hotel. The staff is very well organized and courteous.
