I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Columbia. The staff were very friendly and some spoke english (which helped). The breakfast was buffet style with an ok selection of items. The hotel is in the city center so it is older, but I sort of like that charm. Just know if you prefer things to be completely modern, you will not like it. All in all, it was clean which is the most important. A/C worked fine and there were no problems with the internet. There are several networks you can use, so which ever picks up the best signal. The comfort of the beds could be a little better, but it wasnt horrible. Windows have a metal draw down which is great if you want to sleep in without the sunlight coming through. The surrounding neighborhood can be a bit seedy and seem dangerous because of the people hanging out and some vagrants, but to be fair, I noticed that through just about the entire city. It sort of reminded me of San Francisco in that sense. (Again, nothing directly against the hotel, because it was all over). All in all, I would stay there again. Also, from the airport (GRU) it is very easy to use the airport bus to Praca Republica and the hotel was a 7 minute walk away. With traffic, the bus took about 50 minutes, but I flew home on a Sunday and it only took 30 minutes to get back to the airport from Praca Republica. (The airport bus has an office in Praca Republica).

Infelizmente tive uma péssima experiência com o quarto 605, reservei esse hotel achando que eu teria um melhor conforto e no momento da escolha deixei bem claro que tenho problemas sérios de insônia. Me colocaram em um quarto com um ar condicionado super antigo, barulhento além do chuveiro estar nas mesmas condições. Pedi para trocar o quarto e mandaram […] alguém para remendar o ar condicionado, resultado: noites mal dormidas pois o barulho não foi resolvido e uma péssima impressão. Sou de São Paulo mesmo e passei a noite do hotel para poder descansar e acordar tarde no dia seguinte. Primeiro a recepção tocou o telefone no quarto às 6:30 da manhã. Depois começou a barulheira no corredor. A porta parece de papel dá para ouvir tudo que acontece no corredor e o hotel achou que seria uma boa fazer manutenção do mesmo num domingo de […] manhã, com os quartos ocupados. Às 9:00 começaram a lixar a parede bem em frente ao quarto, o que durou uma hora. Para finalizar, por volta das 11:00 a camereira simplesmente invadiu o quarto (o check out estava previsto para dali a uma hora, não havia a menor necessidade de serviço de quarto). A estadia foi razoável. Tive problemas com a reserva, o que fez com que me realocassem para um quarto de fumantes, que cheirava muito a cigarro. Por outro lado, o café da manhã estava muito bom. A localização também é boa, na esquina da Avenida Sumaré.

Excelente hotel, com opcoes de restaurantes - japones, tailandes, italiano/pizza, padaria, lanchonete especializada em hamburguers - nos arredores. Atendimento muito bom pela equipe. Cafe da manha completo. Bem localizado. Centro Cultural da America Latina proximo. Recomendo.
